  1. Bite alarms are not necessary for carp fishing to many people, but man am I addicted to the sound it makes ......
  2. I'm sure they are there, but I want to add another condition for my perfect swim -- no more than 2 hours of driving. Alas....I'm so jealous of people living near the big fish water. Gas price is one thing, I don't get enough time for fishing and any minute counts ;-)
  3. Not my cup of tea but glad you had fun and got into fish. I'm still in search of the perfect swim where I can park my car within 5 yards of my pod, a washroom within 20 yards, at least above average fishing, good scenery, kids friendly, and a Timmies within 3 minutes walk. Well, I can dream, can't I.
  4. Despite the slowness I bet everyone had fun. Hope I can make it next time.
  5. Nice fish, glad you had a good time. I had a good outing this evening too. Between me and my friend, in 3 hours, we landed about 150lb of carp ;-) Can't beat carping in May.
  6. Too bad I can't make it this Saturday either, have plans for family already. Might swing by on my way to Niagara Falls if time is right. Hope everyone having a good time, by the looks of the weather, you guys will have a blast !
  7. Yup, I'm been so wanting to go since last year.... Fished with Rich once in a different swim, didn't get him into any carp but sleded did get into a 24lb on his 6' rod.....they're definitely people I'd fish with any day.
  8. Thanks Victor... not trying to be a good husband/father... just didn't want to extend the lead too much ;-) Thanks for the report, it was fun and we should do it again SOON.
  9. Good people having good time... priceless.
  10. I don't think they are spawning yet..... probably won't be for another few weeks in this part of the province.
  11. Do them all if you can. They all sound good.
  12. Great report as alwyas.... hope my son's photography skill grows as fast as his DS playing skill ;-)
  13. Rich, I get my car tomorrow.... and the carp in your pictures are too skinny, I need to feed them some more food. LOL
  14. Another one hooked....and he didn't want to show his face LOL I remember my first talk with Photoz (the day the avatar picture was taken), he has "converted" a few of us ;-)
  15. Great report !! Nice fish and thanks for sharing.
  16. I'll have to bring a lipstick next time I fish that spot to make your french kiss worthwhile LOL Nice report as always.... guess you'll see me there soon too ;-)
  17. Nice fish and beautiful swim. Wish I lived close to one of those places.
  18. Egg sinker (1oz or bigger), single #4 to #8 hook with a few kernels of canned corn, hold on to your rod tight and don't trust your reflection thinking you can always grab the rod when a carp is on. Hair rig is nice and easy, although I fish carp with it 100% of the time (when ledgering), it's not 100% necessary when using canned corn. It is more fun though.
  19. The picture of the scale stuck in my mind for a few days, and last night I got the answer from God I landed a small carp about 4lb, after I released the carp I saw a fish scale left in the net. It looked exactly like the one in your picture and in similar size. And being from a smallish carp around 4lb, I won't be surprised if you get a bigger scale from a bigger fish.
  20. Never fished that side, do you park the car in the park and WALK all the way over? I like the idea of having another one a few weeks later... summer is only that long, can't waste any of it.
  21. DSN, if your problem is transportation, I am sure it can be arranged. But for picking a Sunday.... I might have to pass on this. Church in the morning and kid's skating class in the afternoon..... Will pray for you guys at least.
  22. Saturday would work for me, will probably show up with two boys. Thanks for organizing this. BBQ may be a problem ... who's going to man the BBQ when we're all hauling ;-) BTW, Port Credit swim gets pretty crowed by carpers during the weekends in May, if more than 10 show up we might have to practice accurate casting for a few days before going there LOL
  23. Nice fish ! I also got my first carp of the year yesterday. Thank God there are fish swimming in water ;-)
  24. +1 here.... I saw a salmon swimming up stream of Toogood pond (connected to the same water body) two years ago. What you guys do sure makesa difference. Thanks.
