IMO, There are only two options. Factory Cover or custom cover. I bought one of the Canadian Tire covers for my dad and it lasted about a year. It was great for the price but if you want it to last, buy a good one and $500 for a factory cover is good. My personal cover is a factory one that is 11 years old. I have to re seal it this year but it is still going strong. so if your factory cover for $500 lasts half as long as mine has, you will be further ahead in the long run. Adam

I found it funny last night, I was talking to my wife and said I wasn't a huge fan and didn't like his music and couldn't really think of any of his songs. Until every channel on the radio was playing something different song, and I knew it, and I liked it. I guess I never really looked into just how much this artist provided to the music scene over the years.

Wynne is planning another one for us! NF NF

Am I missing something? The supreme court of Canada has already made this legal. They postponed the decision by 1 year to provide time to the Federal government to create legislation that will provide guidelines to assisted suicide. Wynne having provincial legislation created seems like a waste of time to me. -
You can get the just fishing magazine at a few places. our local tackle shop has it but he also started an online catalogue of all magazines. It comes out quarterly.

New trolling motor in the Spring! but some curves ahead...
Lape0019 replied to Raycaster's topic in General Discussion
I've got the Terrova with us2 and ipilot. If that is all you can get from sail, it is worth having us2 if you ever want to upgrade to a bugger unit up front. What everyone else is saying is true. Now as for sail... I have a buddy who used to work there. Essentially, their buyers put in one but order a year for all of their stores then figure out what goes where. This means that the stores themselves don't even know (or have a say in) what they carry. Even staff members cannot order what they want to buy so I'm not surprised to hear that they will not order you the exact TM you want. Fortunately what you want is usually sitting in the store (with US2). Now, Aplumma mentioned the Xi5 can be hooked to an. HDS unit. The terrova can be hooked to a humminbird unit as well but you need the ipilot link version. -
Hey Drop! I currently fish Jerkbaits on a baitcast reel with 30lb braid. Because the rod I use has micro guides and I have yet to find a knot to fit through them, I typically don't use a leader anymore. Before I used this combo, I used a Dobyns 702sf/Stradic ci4 with 20lb braid. If I needed a little stretch or a little dealer presentation, I would throw a 4' flourocarbon leader on it. As mentioned before, pike don't seem to go through flouro as easily but the fact it is virtually invisible and sinks can be used to your advantage while jerkbaiting as well.

I don't float fish but seeing as you are breaking at a swivel or hook, it doesn't really matter. I use a uni 90% of the time with Fluoro but have never used line that thin. If I am not using the Uni, I am using the polomar knot. They are easy to tie and just work for me...

I'm with tekksavvy as well. I think we are 14mbps (the highest in our area) and have unlimited data. Cost is just over $60 after taxes if I remember correctly.

Pretty sure Trudeau is pulling the planes out because it was an election promise.

My Mercury manual specifically states not to fog the engine. It is a fourtroke. It states if you want to add anything, add a little of the crankcase oil. I don't fog, my marina recommends I don't do anything so All I do is change the oils and rund 91 (all of the time) with fuel stabilizer and quick kleen through her. I do not bother with Antifreeze in my live well pumps either. But, I can see where my pumps are.
-
I do it manually as well. I read something on the internet about it a while back and figured what the hell, it can't hurt anything. Now I just find it annoying to do it any other way. I don't know if it helps with anything but I have been doing it for a few years now and don't see myself going back.

I've got two at home. one is 9 and the other is 4. The 9 year old was sleeping through his nights at 6 months only after switching to formula. The wife wasn't producing enough milk. Once we started formula feeding, it was great to finally get a full night of sleep. I was also harder on the wife when it came to going to check on him. We knew he was not hungry and he didn't need anything from us. Worst case, I would go in, put the blanket back on and stick a soother in his mouth, turn on his fisher price mobile (Little fish thing with water in it attached to the rail of the crib) and walk out. He would be back out in 5 minutes. He also learned to turn that thing on himself around 11 months. The 4 year old was a different story. We switched to formula at 3 months but this little girl did not sleep through the night until she was 2.5 years old. The only difference I can see is that I let the wife coddle her a lot more. So in the end, I would have to agree this is more of a comfort thing than anything else. nut know every child is different and although some of our suggestions worked for us, they may not work for you. My advice, let the kid cry it out for 5-10 minutes. It should be long enough to know that no one is coming yet short enough to know if something is wrong. Good luck! I surely do not miss those days but it does get better.

Who is this middle class I hear them spout about?
Lape0019 replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
I try to keep neutral when it comes to politics and this is not going to be any different. They all give you half truths. The article listed above is a prime example of this. Harper is giving you what he feels is what you need to hear in order to vote for the conservative party. I imagine Trudeau and Mulcair are doing the same thing. What you need to do is not take their word at face value and go read the platforms of the parties you are considering voting for. It is the only way you will get the most accurate facts when it comes to what the party is willing to do. Now, does this mean the party will do it? not always but it is still better than listening to another party spew "facts that are inaccurate. one thing is for sure though, no matter who gets in, there will be people complaining. Not a single party will ever support all of your views but hopefully there is one out there that you can see supports them more than the others. -
I change mine myself every year or so. You can pick them up for around $20 at Canadian tire and it takes seconds to do.

What is this sub thing used for ( Owen Sound )?
Lape0019 replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
I've seen them on the back of Great Lakes ships. It's a rescue boat -
Legend is not a terrible boat but there are certainly better ones out there. Their resale value is where it hurts the most. Legend is about as bad as Tracker when it comes to their packages (I can say this because I have a tracker...) The put a small motor on it to meet a price point and then you go off and are truly unhappy with your boat. If you were to build the legend with the Max HP rating of the boat and compare it to the price of a Lund, you will see the prices are very similar. As always, try to get as close to the Max HP the hull was designed for and you will be happy. If I were to buy a deep v boat, the two I gravitate to are Lund and Crestliner. There are other boats out there of the same quality but these are the best boats I have to choose from in my area.

2006 Bass Tracker 190 TX w/ 75 Merc four stoke. 36-37mph full tournament load or 38mph with me and my gear at 5500rpm. That's with a 17p aluminum prop. I can hit 40 with a 19p aluminum but I lose some maneuverability.

Bass love senkos...... A little too much
Lape0019 replied to Acountdeleted's topic in General Discussion
I use the Powerteam lures sick stick. It is designed to be used with a weighted wacky hook and last alright when used by themselves. My buddy started using the heat shrink tubing and it works quite well. I find senkos are just to easily broken when wacky rigged. You are better off using a knockoff. -
I know it won't help you this year but there are quite a few Bassmasters clubs within the Toronto area that pair boaters with non boaters for tournaments. I joined the Ottawa Valley South Bassmasters in the off season and will be fishing my 4th tournament on Saturday with them. Because our club was low on boaters, I have been a boater for 2 of the 3 events I have participated it. Our club is run really well and I have learned from my boater and non boaters alike. Everyone has something to learn from someone else and I find clubs like these are very good for learning and getting out on the water. I know not all clubs are run the same so check out the ones in your area and maybe attend a meeting. I do not know how they vote people in up there but our club makes you attend at least one meeting and on the second one you attend, you can be voted in. Check out Ontariobass.com and click on "about" to see the "find a club" list. The other positive is I have found many people who have offered to take me out in their boat from this club as well as found a slew of people I would have in my boat any time. Its a good way to meet people with the same love as fishing that you have.

Bass Boats are not meant for everyone and they are designed with the live well in the back to keep speed up. You want to bow to lift to gain more speed so sticking a big live well upfront would be the worst thing you could do to a bass boat. To me, this is a very well laid out BASS boat. The center rod storage is great! Holds 18 rods up to 8 or so feet long, has room for 4 3700 size boxes and houses the TM batteries. The side storage areas are nice and deep to hold a lot of other gear. And with a 200 on the back, it will do a top speed of 64mph! For a tin boat that is setup for BASS fishing, I think Lund did an amazing job. I also believe the hull used isn't going to beat people up any worse than my Bass Tracker PT190 and I could easily deal with rivets. Now, The price of this thing is going to be up there. a place in the US already has it on their site with a 150 and it is almost $36,000 USD. At that price, it will be competing with a few glass 18 footers but has a good enough layout that I would definitely consider this over glass for some of the areas I fish. The hull would also be a major upgrade over the pounding I take on St. Francis with my mod V...

Marinco makes the a good connecter. They also manufacture the minnkota branded ones. I went with the Minnkota branded one because it has a smaller diameter, It was the MKR-18. If you go with 6 gauge, you will need the adapter as well (Adapter is MKR-16A). Depending on how long your run is, you will be able to get away with 8 gauge wire no problems. Just make sure to put in an inline fuse or breaker in whatever size your TM calls for. I used the Minnkota breaker as well.

I got a call similar to that when I posted my truck on Kijiji. They offered to give me my asking price in a loan and when I sell it, I could pay it back to them...

I personally would just buy another rod or have it replaced under warranty but this does not sound like a manufacturers defect. I do not know if this is a one or two piece rod but I use all 1 piece rods. The tip of your rod is where a lot of the action that the blank makes. It is also what creates the presentation you are looking for. If 4" is now missing from the rod, the way it has behaved in the past is now all but gone. With that much of the tip gone, your rod is also going to load up faster. this would drive me nuts so I would just go buy another one rather than trying to fix it.

My boat (Bass Tracker 190TX mod V) had an underpowered 46lb motorguide on it when I bought it and ever since then, I have had a bad taste in my mouth from them. On a day where a the water was calm, it would move the boat well but I could never take my foot off the the pedal without it turning 90 degrees on me. I upgraded to an 80lb terrova with Ipilot a couple of years ago and have been quite happy. I have had one pedal replaced under warranty because the speed shown on the Ipilot was not the same as what was showing on the pedal. I could put it to ten on both but when I used the remote, it was faster and when I used the pedal, the remote would show at 7 instead of 10. Anyway, I tell you this to illustrate that although the Terrova is proven, it has its quirks. I went a took a look at everything that comes with the Xi5 and to be honest, I like the design, ergonomics and general layout better of the remote and pedal with the Terrova. I turn the terrova on continuous quite often and use the two arrow buttons at the bottom of the pedal quite often to steer around obstacles. The Autopilot feature is also built into the pedal where as it looks like you have to use the remove for the Xi5. Not a big deal to some, but I do not always use the remote. Where the Xi5 has advantages (IMO) is that the pedal looks to be wireless (Can anyone confirm this) so you wouldn't have 20 feet of cord to worry about. It looks like the motor guide spot lock feature is built into the pedal. The disadvantages to me is that there is no screen on the Xi5 remote, has a less functional pedal with less options and I prefer to have the part where you step on to turn the motor on to be on the left side of the pedal. This may not seem like much, but I like the information the screen on the terrova gives me. As for the motorguide quick release bracket. They can usually be easily modified to fit any TM. I have buddies with MG plates on MK TMs and I know others who have the reverse. This will all come down to personal preference though so go check both of them out. And lastly, think long and hard about stepping up to the 80. You will be happier in the end.

How long should a 12V battery last for Helix-5 SI GPS?
Lape0019 replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
As for your side note, I do not believe you should be running a FF off of a deep cycle. That is, if it is hooked up to a Trolling motor only because it would cause some crazy interference.
