  1. Ranger will rig your boat with any major motor brand you want. The last time I went to a marina, a rep for Ranger was there and indicated that the buy out of BPS will not affect your selection of motors. You can still request a Yammy, Merc, rude or Suzuki. It will more depend on the dealer you buy from.
  2. Went to a school with a guy named Nacho and he didn't seem to have a problem with it. I can't see Nutella being any worse. I also do not think a courtroom should have the right to say which names you are not allowed to use. Should t they have more I portsnt things to do?
  3. Sounds like one of her neighbours has way too much time on their hands...
  4. I actually have experienced this^^^^ I don't fish for Muskie and used a WTD for bass quite a bit last year. I had 3 Musky blow up on a Pencil 110 but not of them hooked up. That lure was used each trip and landed me quite a few bass but for some reason, I could hook a Musky with it if my life depended on it.
  5. On windy days it may be a bit more than five feet but not much. I overpowered my boat when I upgraded the TM so it holds pretty good once it figures out the drift pattern. I just provided what Minnkota states and nothing more.
  6. Not recovered. They are just downsizing to a single from a double wide...
  7. This is also the reason why you see so many "pro" staff boats in our area. Getting a boat that was ran for a season at $20,000 less really helps a lot of people out. My issue is a WANT a boat like that and don't mine paying $500 a month for it. What kills me is that after 20 years when I would be done paying for it, I could have bought two of them for that price. I've decided to let someone else take that huge hit. I have a plan to buy something of that caliber but I can guarantee it will be at least 6 years old. And with a savings of $30,000 at least over new, I will sleep better at night!!! I will hopefully be able to save up as much as I can before purchasing so monthly payments will either be low or non existant! Adam
  8. I did a lot of research in this before buying my terrova. Minnkota states it will hold you within a 5ft diameter of where you turn it on. Here is a video. http://www.minnkotamotors.com/i-Pilot/ it's about halfway down the page.
  9. There are some pretty good pics on bassboatcentral. Here is a link. You will not that the actual screen size isn't much smaller than an 8 series. I think the will be great budget friendly units. So far there are 11 pages of comments but I think you may find a lot of the info you are looking for... Not being able to link is important to some but not the people who are looking at spending this much money. I wouldn't mind buying 2 or 3 of them and I could care less if they linked up. http://www.bbcboards.net/humminbird-sonar-gps/524029-new-humminbird-standalone-helix-5-units-announced.html
  10. Had some buddy's over and we played Rotten Apples and Cards against humanity. Both great and vulgar games if you get the right cards and the right time... One of the couples just had a baby so they left around 11:00. The other couple was here until 1:30. I feel hungover yet I didn't drink a stitch of alcohol. I guess staying up past midnight just doesn't agree with me anymore.
  11. I know gear isn't talked about her all that often but the truth is there are fisherman and there are enthusiasts. As stated before, people who buy higher end gear typically love how the product fishes as much as how exciting it is to catch a fish. I would love to catch fish everytime out but if I don't, using the gear I love fishing with makes it enjoyable anyway. Not everyone will understand it, but that is why there are different pricepoints for each type of angler.
  12. That is understandable. The rod is rated for 3/4oz. The Dobyns that are being tossed around as ideas are about the same.
  13. I've caught a few pike on that rod without issues. Nothing to write home about but big enough to test the rod. I should not I picked mine up for quite a bit less because the tackle shop wanted to blow out the Megabass rods. That wing said, I would buy another in a heartbeat. Although it states "jerkbait special" on it, it is quite a versatile rod that is worth a good look over. I don't beleive you will be dissapointed. I would have preferred to buy a Dobyns but as stated, I could not find what I was looking for at that time. Looking back, I probably could have done quite well with a champion 683 (not a cb stick yet almost the same ratings as the xx) but you never know.
  14. Good to know! Thanks!
  15. I may have to try a smaller diameter line. I use 30lb pp and a 20lb seaguar leader. It fits through for a few casts and then swells to the point it just doesn't fit through the last few guides.
  16. If you use leaders, you may have to learn some new knots. The jerkbait special has a little bit larger than micro guides and a uni to uni knot will not fit through them after a few casts. I have heard a modified Albright knot works well but I haven't tried and just used straight braid last year.
  17. I use almost all Dobyns rods but couldn't find what I was looking for when it came to jerkbaits. The 704cb was too long and the 684cb was too soft in the tip for me. The rest of the Dobyns I have (champ 734, 735, 702sf, dx 743 and 745) are abslolutly great! Warranty wise, you won't find one better IMO. Lifetime on manufacturing defects and a $70 no questions asked warranty for when it would not be covered under the lifetime. I smashed a rod tip in the rod locker and went to the store and picked up a new rod. I told him what happened and he handed me a new one anyway. It literally is a no questions asked warranty. If you do want to use the manaufacturer defect warranty, you will have to pay to ship it to California, but that is it from what I recall. Great rod with great customer service at a pretty good price. I don't think you will be disappointed if you go that route but maybe email or call Dobyns and ask what they would use. You will end up either talking to Gary or Richard Dobyns and you will see why their customer service is said to be great! Adam
  18. Sounds like we have the same taste in jerkbait rods. If you can find a jerkbait special I. Your area, check it out and I doubt you will be dissapointed.i also use mine for walk the dog style baits and love it for that as well.
  19. Orochi xx jerkbait special is what I have. I do not like very parabolic rods and prefer something like a medium fast rod. The jerkbait special does a great job for me and it launches baits quite well for a 6'8 rod.
  20. More than likely, a Sedona will not explode on you anytime soon if tat is what you want to buy. I would however recommend stepping up to the Symetre though since it has a few extra features for not a whole lot more. X-ship alone (a bearing supported pinion gear) will add to how long the reel lasts because it helps keep everything alignment while under a large load.
  21. I'm gonna throw it out there. After catching a 44" Muskie on a 2500 ci4and watching a quality drag system work effortlessly, I will never buy a cheap reel again. If it would have been the$10.00 Zebco I have at the cottage for panfish, the reel would have exploded.
  22. Before this goes crazy. Higher priced reels won't help you catch fish but they do provide me with an enjoyability that I just don't find in cheaper gear. Higher prices rods in the other hand, may help you detect the more subtle bites. If your budget doesn't allow for you to buy three stradics and you really want three combo's, go cheaper and get the functionality you are looking for. I myself, usually buy one combo a year. I started out with one good one and built up from there. I have sold off a few that didn't provide me with what I was working for and bought better stuff over the years and it has worked out well for me. Currently, I am running all shimano reels and mostly Dobyns rods and don't plan on getting rid of any. In fact, I sold off a lew's, pflueger and abu last year to buy more shimano reels. There was nothing wrong with them, I just preferred the Shimano products.
  23. Freshtrax, I've used a Pflueger president and the. Switched to a Stradic CI4 and then promptly bought a second one because I was that impressed. The difference between the two was night and day. As stated above, everything is built with better components which translates to more refinement. Also, until you hit the Stella, the reels are typically lighter. The stradic is worth the money IMO but I find there is still a cut off. I don't know if I would spend more for a Sustain because I don't find there is a big enough difference. The same couldbe said on the baitcast line as well. I have shimano baitcasters from $200 - $500 and there are noticeable differences. The Curado is a workhorse and does an excellent job (I have an e and an i) but if you step up to the ci4+ Chronarch, you will notice some refinement with better bearing and drag being used. The core is in a league of it's own and feels so smooth considering it has less bearings than the other reels mentioned. My Metanium on the other hand is not worth the extra money to me. It's level of refinement over the ci4+ chronarch is not enough to justify the added cost because of the way I use it. I have heard that the met really shines with 1/4oz baits which isn't what I bought it for. If I used it for that, I would probably have a different feeling towards it. The more you spend, the newer the technology is as well. X-ship was only offered in the high end reels for the first year and trickled down a few years later. Needless to say, I beleive there are a few advantages to buying higher end gear but in the end, it comes down to personal preference and comfort level for what you are willing to spend. Adam
  24. A little more than I would ever expect anyone to spend on me but my dream would be to see a Megabass Lin 10 zirconia Meteor under the tree. To me, that reel is more of a work of art than something I would want to fish with.
  25. I bought/was given: Shimano Metanium XG Shimano Chronarch 150 CI4+ Shimano Curado I 6.2:1 Dobyns 735C (used) Dobyns DX743C Megabass XX Jerkbait Special What I am looking to acquire over the winter is: Dobyns DX744 or Megabass XX EMTF Dobyns Champion 764CBRM 2 reels. More than likely will be JDM but I haven't decided on Daiwa or Shimano. Whatever they are, they will be for the two rods I buy. I also have a slew of tackle I want to grab, but I am afraid the list is too long.
