  1. Best of luck with the new show Jamie, really looking forward to seeing it. Diane & I are coming to Ottawa in the near future for another weekend, maybe we can all hook up for dinner.....I'll let you know when.
  2. Always nice to see the finished product of someone who knows their way around the workshop. Great job !!
  3. Now THAT'S what you call a day of bass fishing !! Well done boys !!
  4. Hey Pete, if you were any kind of pal you'd ferget about the Niagara trip this year, grab your paint brush, and come spend that weekend with me. Lotsa painting for everybody
  5. Harry, it sounds like a few of us should go in to the drywall / painting business together
  6. A few years back there was an old couple, both in their 80's, who used to jig a weedline every night at dusk and I'd always stop my boat & chat with them for a few minutes on my way out night fishing. One night I came across them and they were both looking over the side of the boat with a flashlite, obviously upset, and they told me the old boy had dropped his favorite fishing pole in the drink and couldn't find it. It was nearly dark by now and they were gonna head in to their cottage which was close by. Early the next morning I headed to the spot he'd dropped his pole and with the sun shining I was able to find it and snag it with a big treble hook. I headed in to his dock and when he saw me he came down to see what I wanted. I held up the fish'n pole and as soon as he saw it he started to cry and said he thought he'd never see it again.......and that was one of the happiest moments of my life He offered me a reward, but of course seeing the old boy so happy was reward enuff.
  7. I'll be passing this year Roger, infact this'll be the 1st one I've ever missed, but I'm re-doing the whole house and am gonna be busy for awhile. I've even put all the fish'n gear away for the season.
  8. I've dealt with the Peterboro office a few times and they've always gone way overboard to accomodate me and rectify the problem. I broke a rod once, 100% my carelessness, and they replaced it without question, and a couple times they've repaired reels for me without charge. If they can't find a replacement tip,I'm also surprised they didn't just offer a new rod, even with a small replacement cost.
  9. Maybe we can work a deal Dara
  10. I feel your pain bud, I'm just getting ready to hang 11 sheets of drywall, then re-paint the entire house, then lay down new flooring. I enjoy doing the drywall & hardwood, but not the painting, infact I think I'd rather be doing anything else
  11. And don't forget about carbon monoxide while burning those logs inside your shelter.
  12. Never heard of Tackle Industries or their rods before, nor have I ever found the need for a triple XXX rod, but hopefully it'll work for you. Not sure why you sold off your other rods though, cause now what are you gonna use for your smaller baits ?? Only my opinion, but I think you'll find that new pole will be far too heavy & stiff for anything but the heaviest lures. Sort of like your proverbial 8' pool cue with very little flex. Good luck with it though.
  13. Atta boy Simon and congrats of the 1st musky, the uphill climb is over now
  14. Dam, Steve, that's terrible news, Sonny was a great guy and so young for this to happen. Condolances to both you & Jen
  15. I don't want to be out of line here, but if you don't know how to use a mast, boards or electronics, perhaps your not quite ready to be a charter boat captain yet ?? I'm thinking guys spend big $$$$ when chartering a boat in hopes of a successful day on the water, but if the operator isn't experienced in ALL aspects of what's going on, the clients may be spending money for nothing more than a boat ride. I may be wrong here, but that's just the way I read your post
  16. When I first went on the job way back in '68 we were making $100 a week. Seemed like good $$$$ back then
  17. Another Shimano fan here, Calcutta CT's & TE's and Tekotta 600's for trolling. Best if you tell us your price range and target species and it'll be easier to figure what reel will work best for you. As others have mentioned already though, best to buy good quality now rather than starting off cheap and regretting it down the road.
  18. Good to hear I'm not the only one having this problem
  19. If your going the 1st week of June, you'll have to pass on the musky as their season won't open till later in the month. You'll have plenty of good fishing otherwise though.
  20. The tournies we fished, we were told the day before to hold a certain object in the picture....which is just to keep folks honest....but it's the same idea. Ever try to hold a 4' musky while balancing a basketball on yer head ??
  21. My new Skeeter / Yamaha rig that I just bought this year is hardly even dusty yet, but praps it's time for an upgrade already Thanks for the info Craig
  22. I've had approximately 80 staples removed from my hips, roughly 40 on either side at different times, and can honestly say there was almost no pain at all from any of them coming out. Last year my wife had 30 staples in her scalp from the top of her head down to her jaw and she also had very little discomfort when they were removed. I'm guessing the lack of pain comes from both the skill of the person putting them in and the same skill from the person removing them. They definetely leave a scar though and mine are still visible even after 16 years from the 1st surgery. Fortunately though, my wifes were under the hair and not visible.
  23. One way you could include everybody would be to make it an on-line tournament rather than having everybody meet up at a certain body of water. Set a date & a species and then folks could fish wherever their located in the country, or even south of the border, then post pictures of their catches with the size of the fish. We did this type of tourney for muskies twice a few years back and it actually ran very smoothly. Course you have to trust folks to submit the proper weights for fish, but normally if there's no cash or prizes for the winner.....just bragging rights.....things usually go pretty good. It's just a thought, but with our members spread over 2 countries it would be impossible to have tournies that included everyone who wanted to participate
  24. Some good reading there Rick, infact I actually remember a couple of those posts from back in the day. It'd be nice to hear from some of those long gone members again.
  25. Sheesh Wayne, the days half over by 4:45 Great stuff, sounds like good times all around !!!!
