I don't take delivery of my new Yamaha for another 12 days, 2 hours & 13 minutes...but who's counting ??... but I'm assuming I'll get all my paper work then. Just curious though George, what did the dealer say when you picked up your motor and found the scratch on it ?? Is he gonna get you a different motor or fix the one he gave you ??

Getting ready for the inevitable Quinte downpour, eh Pat ?? See you in a few weeks

I just went into Google and typed "junk removal, oshawa" and came up with this. http://www.1888junkquick.com/index.html Looks like a few more in there to pick from too.

WTG Darren, beautiful fish !! Too bad a few folks saw fit to hi-jack your story though and turn it into something about Cronzey.

I like fishing just before a big storm hits as it often really turns the fish on, but it can get pretty hairy sometimes. You can see the storm building just behind me in this picture and we took off as soon as I released this fish. Got back to my trailer about 10 minutes later and I no sooner got inside when a bolt of lightning hit a horseshoe peg about 150' away from me and blew out the satellite dish & receiver on my place and a television in another trailer 100' away, even though we both have lightening rods. A neighbor actually saw the bolt hit the peg.

When your towing a big heavy boat at hiway speeds your trailer tires are one of the most important things you've got going for you and I don't think buying used or reconditioned is a good idea. The price of a set of good trailer specific tires is pretty cheap compared to the total cost of whatever rig your towing. Just my 10¢ though

Don't know anything about Sylvans but I've got a few friends with PrinceCrafts and they seem like excellent boats and any I've fished out of have been top notch. I bought a new 90 Merc 4 stroke back in 2001 and only got rid of it last week but it was an absolutely perfect motor without even a hiccup in all those years and not a single problem of any kind so if you decide on the Merc I'd hope you'd be as happy with it as I was with my 90. I just purchased a new 150 Yammy 4 stroke but it hasn't even seen a lake yet so I can't offer an opinion on them, but ask me in 6 months and I'll let you know what I think

35 years ago I used to drive a big tandem dump truck on my days off and I dumped many many loads of dirt, bricks & concrete in the construction of the Leslie St Spit. Sure hope nobody blames my in anyway for the onslought of the cormorants

All of my baits are stored in tackle boxes or boat compartments so they hang freely and I never have a rust problem. If your laying wet baits horizontal in plastic trays you'll get rust every time. When I'm done for the day and bring up my bow mount, I hang all my large wet boo & bucktails off the power cord and by the time I get back to the dock, the air rushing over them has them all dried out and ready for hanging in their respective spots. Baits, specially large musky baits, are far to expensive to have laying around getting rusty and it only takes minimal effort to keep them in good shape.

Couple years back Mr. Eh and I were fishing Pigeon Lake and I had a musky pull a 10" Believer apart, so I just took a photograph of the 2 pieces and emailed it to Drifter Tackle with a letter of explanation. Within days a package arrived in the mail with not only a replacement for the $25 lure, but also another $25 lure to go along with it as a show of great customer support. Good companies back their products and look after customers when a problem arises and I'm sure Rapala will do the same if they determine the problem is a manufacturing defect.

Thats an excellent looking bait and certainly doesn't look like the 1st time you've tied one. Black with silver is also a good colour combo too. You asked for feedback so I'd like to just offer a tip if I may. With musky size hooks being so large and to reduce doing any further harm to the fish, many of us simply cut the hooks off, rather than trying to pull them back out again. It only takes a few seconds to replace the trebles and were back in business, but with your skirt tied directly to the hook it would basically ruin the whole set-up if one or more trebles had to be cut off. Best bet is to tie on a skirt directly to the shaft, but have a split ring inside where a treble could be added, then when it's cut off there's no damage to the skirt section and your good to go again. Just my thoughts though and again congrats on a fine looking bait.

I always carry a photocopy copy of my insurance papers & boat & trailer registration in a sealed baggy in the boat and that's perfectly acceptable for the OPP, but for some reason I thought copies of licenses weren't acceptable ?? If infact they ARE acceptable, thanks for the tip Fisherman and I'll print off some copies right now and put them with my other stuff.

I don't watch much television and have never seen any of these new "Idol" shows, but if that's the caliber of talent I've been missing, perhaps I should start watching them. That lovely lady is a joy to listen to !!

I use a 7' 6" Shimano Compre with a Shimano Tekotta 600LC reel. Works well for me.

I can honestly say in 50+ years of fishing the Kawarthas regularily, I've only ever been stopped & checked by a CO once while fishing, and that was early in the morning on opening day of duck season and he was checking for guns & hunting licenses. Never been stopped on the Ottawa, St. Lawrence or Niagara Rivers, or GBay or St. Clair either, but have been checked on Quinte several times over the years. I've been stopped on the West Bay of Nippissing quite a few times, usually by both the CO's & OPP while their riding together, but it was always a very pleasant meeting and they've always gone outta their way to be friendly & professional. I think they do an excellent job with the resourses they've got. Worst encounter, infact the ONLY bad experience I've EVER had with a CO was waaaaay back in the boonies of Quebec, but that was by a pair of CO's on nothing more than a power trip.

If your outboard motor has an alternator it'll be charging your cranking battery whenever it's running so that helps replace the juice your using while running your accesories, whereas the deep cycle isn't being replenished until you plug it in at the end of the day. Your troll motor could also cause interferrence on your sonar unit too if they run off the same battery. Always a good idea to carry booster cables in your boat incase your cranking battery goes flat, then you can get a jump from the deep cycle to get you home.

Me too Roy, once I pass that spot I know I'm only 30 minutes away Won't be long now

EVERY kid that's ever lived has promised his folks he'll walk the dog 3 times a day if he's allowed to have one, but what's gonna happen in a couple months or a couple years from now once the novelty of the puppy has worn off and the little guy isn't allowed in the backyard to do his thing or even when he needs some excercise ?? What about when it's cold & raining outside or in the dead of winter and nobody wants to leave the warm house, what's he sposed to do then if he can't go in the yard ?? You can leave a cat in the house and he won't really care, but dogs need to get outside to do their business and they REALLY need to run and stretch their legs. If he's not allowed in the yard, I sure hope your gonna keep your word and be able to commit to taking him for walks EVERY day......for the next 10 or 15 years anyways. Something you want to think long and hard about.

Excellent fishin tale Mike and it made for a great Sunday morning read !! -
I guess everyones been following the very sad story of the 2 little babies who are both fighting for their lives right now in Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. One is only 2 months old and has a major brain disorder that will probably take her life in the near future and even if it doesn't, she'll have to undergo a kidney transplant in a couple years. She's gone home for now but will probably be back in Sick Kids soon. The other baby is only 1 month old and will also die shortly if she doesn't receive a heart transplant. She's at the top of the transplant list and is basically waiting for baby #1 to pass away in order to live herself. I've been following this sad tale closely from the start and have tears in my eyes everytime I watch the up-dates. Like a few other OFNers, I've lost a child, plus my daughter survived a terrible car crash a few years ago when she was T-boned by a truck. I'm not really going anywhere with this, but if you've got children, please enjoy every moment you have with them and cherish every second they are with you because you never know when something tragic will happen. Give your kids an extra little hug when you put them to bed tonight. Hopefully I'm not outta line here, I'm just kinda thinking out loud.
