  1. Actually Roy, my garden was a bit of a flop this year. Tomatoes and beans were so-so and the cucumbers hardly even broke ground thru the ground. Good thing there's a farmers market just down the road
  2. You've always been a true friend to the younguns Roy
  3. Cliff, I've got a rather spendy stainless prop on my motor. Two years ago when I was heading to Lakair, the water was down about 4' and rather than taking a chance on smashing it on a rock, I went to the local marina and bought a regular rather in-expensive prop that was sposed to work on my motor. Same as your friend, as soon as I'd hit around 2500 RPM's the prop would just spin on the hub and the engine would rev high. No other choice but to take it off and put the good one on and just keep my fingers crossed.
  4. I've got a few 8' x 6x6 beams laying around here, so I'm gonna use them to prop the trailer up this season rather than my axle stands. Their gonna lay along the frames either sides of the wheels to even the load and give more support all over. As you say Wayne, it just takes the load off alot of parts.
  5. I run Marine Stabil in my 150 four stroke all year, then at the end of the season I put in some extra and fill the gas tank right up. I pull the plugs and spray a bit of fogger into each cylinder, replace the plugs and hit the key a couple time on & off fast just to move the pistons a bit and then shut her down till the spring time. Do the other fluids, grease what needs it and your good to go. Most years I jack the trailer up and put it on blocks just to take the load off the tires, although I didn't do that last year. Anybody else put the trailer on blocks ??
  6. Great video TJ !! I've got scat in the back yard, foot prints in the driveway, garbage bins getting busted open up and down the road and sightings all around me, but I've yet to meet Mr. Bruin in person myself . Always got the camera nearby though.
  7. I got an 8 pound large mouth from the Kawarthas a few years back and for this area that really is an outstanding fish, even to a serious bass angler...which I'm not. Many would have called it a monster, a giant or even a behemoth. A tournament bass guy from southern Florida or Mexico would have called it a ho-hum fish and not given it a 2nd look. Lotsa variables when describing a fish.
  8. How many fish does Baby La La catch from the couch ??
  9. That's the kinds stuff we like to hear
  10. Anyone who cancels a fishing trip because of an east wind is missing out on catching fish.

It was definetely a fun day Brian but I don't think I'll be at the g2g next June, but a group of us will be up there for 2 weeks in August. And don't forget those leaders
  12. My wife and 7 of her girlfriends are taking a 14 day cruise to Hawaii next April but I doubt they'll be doing much fishing though
  13. Same stuff here Dara, I maintain everything myself except my truck, just too much hassle there. As for the beer, the last time I drank one I think it was about $10 for a two/four
  14. So far today I've seen 1 car, 1 pick-up, a raccoon & 2 red squirrels on my road. Gotta luv rush hour in the boonies

  20. It's been nearly 44 years since I went on the job Bob and the differences in both technologies and techniques are unbelievable.....some good and some not so good. I was full time (Toronto) but I spose things are the same for the volunteer outfits as well. Long gone are the good ole days of just kicking in the door and putting out the fire. Nowadays, there's 27 guys lookin over your shoulder to make sure your doing it right. Been retired over 11 years now but still miss the job.....'cept when it's snowing & blowing and 10 below.
  21. Thanks folks, it was indeed a great weekend. Next trip is a few days on Lake St. Clair next month. I forgot about it, but I actually did take a picture and it's of the cormorants on the Larry. An absolute HUGE flock of them that we saw. Tough to guess numbers but there must have been literally hundreds of birds grouped together sitting on the water. Lotsa seagulls but the majority were cormorants. There's only a few here but many many more outside of the camera lens. Maybe they were all grouped together out in the middle to avoid the many goose hunters in the reed beds on the weekend
  22. Ten years ago me and buddy were casting a nice little bay one evening when a hunter in his camo boat came into the bay, pulled up beside me and told me to get out of "his" bay because he wanted to kill some birds from there and I was in his way. I told him it wasn't polite to order folks around and seeing as he was such a jerk we may just hang around till the sun went down, which we did. He got mad and left but as he was going past me I told him that next time he wanted to hunt an area and someone was already there before him, a change in attitude and maybe a "please" may get him a bit more co-operation. Folks with attitude problems shouldn't own guns.
  23. It's a massive body of water Larry and I've got no problem sharing it with everyone else. I just wish when their flying down the lake at 75 MPH and I'm trolling, they give me more than 50' clearance when the lake is several miles wide.
  24. Next time your out that way Paul, take a couple empty plastic jugs tied to some bricks and set them on the outside edges of the shoal. Most folks should realize what they mean. Other than sitting there 24/7 waving folks away, there's not much more that you can do.
  25. Nice looking fishing rig you picked up there Cliff, infact VERY nice, you'll be set for a long time now !!
