  1. I have zero interest in ice fishing, never do it, and use the winter months for other things.
  2. No offence to you personally Dan, but as soon as guys make comments like that is when a post starts the journey down the tube. Threads often go along nice and smooth, then somebody makes a statement about it and all of a sudden...POOF !!
  3. When TJ started this board many years ago he decided not to have seperate pages for non-fishing topics. He liked the idea of having everything on one page. I've been a member of this board going on 10 years now and in that time this website has had several facelifts and even 2 or 3 name changes but it usually got better and now we have something like 7500 members. There's always been different folks over the years who have suggested that we have seperate pages for fishing & non-fishing but the powers that be have no intention of changing it. A rule came into effect several years ago stating that we'll put NF in the title of any thread that isn't about fishing and that way, if your not interested in it, you'll be able to avoid it by not reading it. Problem is though, people will still read the thread, then start complaining about it because it's not fishing related, even though the title probably indicated just that. Next thing you know, a couple more folks jump on the bandwagon and before you know it, the post has gone completely off topic, down the tube and locked up. What's interesting to me may not be interesting to you and visa versa. If you don't find a thread interesting, why not just close the post and move onto something else, rather than ruining it for those that are taking part in the thread and enjoying it ?? I have absolutely ZERO interest in some of the stuff posted around here but when I see those subjects I just move onto something more to my liking. Worst part is guys who post non-fishing things, then complain when somebody else does the exact same thing. We currently have a music thread with around 1000 replies, there's always talk of hockey and car racing, how do I fix my fridge, my air conditioner is broke, guys posting that they need a job, do you agree with seat belts, raising $$$ to help a member and just about every other topic you can think about. Always lots of non-fishing stuff to read, or not read. If you enjoy it, that's good, but if you don't enjoy the topic, why not just move on and not ruin it for those that DO enjoy it But that's all just my opinion.
  4. This has been an interesting discussion that nobody is being forced to take part in Wayne, and has absolutely nothing to do with winternet. And if somebodies fishing post only receives 4 replies, well, there may just be a reason for that.
  5. It's so ironic isn't it ?? We're preached to constantly on how seat belts save lives...which they do...and if we don't wear them we'll be fined, but when it comes to making even MORE money they decide seatbelts AREN'T needed and jam as many standing patrons on a bus as they can shove through the doors. A lady was killed on a Toronto bus last month when they hit a truck, I wonder if she was strapped in ??
  6. Whats really strange is the fact that your given a hefty fine for not wearing a seatbelt in your car, yet your allowed to stand, fully unprotected, on buses subways and streetcars.
  7. I saw alot of nasty stuff over the years but one that always stuck with me was probably 40 years ago and involved a little Volkswagon Beetle and a big ole '67 Pontiac. There were 3 ladies in the Bug with nobody wearing a seat belt and the Pontiac crossed the road (Toronto street) and hit them head-on. The Pontiac probably weighed 3 times as much as the bug and when he hit them he just drove them straight back. The lady in the back seat shot forward between the bucket seats and drove the 2 ladies in front under the dash board, including the driver who was bent around the steering column. The rear seat passenger continued flying thru the windshield, then landed on the roof of the Pontiac, then bounced off the roof and hit the road face first behind the car. It took a long time for us to dismantle the Bug enough to get the women out and when we finally removed the driver her left foot remained in the car where it had been severed by the clutch pedal. All 3 were alive when the ambulances took them away but were all terribly injured. We seldom followed up on things after the fact and I don't know if they survived or not. I don't know what the outcome would have been had the ladies been wearing seatbelts, but I think it would have kept the lady in the back seat and she wouldn't have flown into the front and did so much damage to the others and herself. This is just one story out of many but in my mind anyone who doesn't wear a belt is just plain foolish...but that's just my opinion.
  8. That's lousy news Doug, condolances from my home to yours.
  9. G'Day Roy & thanks. Water conditions aren't sounding too good but we'll make the best of it & hopefully have a few fish'n tales to tell. I'm outta here in about 40 minutes
  10. A few of us are heading down to LSC early tomorrow morning for 3 days of musky fishing and the reports say the rivers & lake are totally blown, but I sure wouldn't let poor conditions keep me away. And it's absolutely guaranteed that nooooobody will catch a fish from their living room couch this weekend
  11. Jeeez, I haven't thought of that game for years Dave, but we used to call those donie whackers (sp)
  12. Thanks, I needed that
  13. There's a reason I fish from my boat out in the middle of the lake
  14. Gorgeous critter for sure and like everyone else, it'd sure be nice to get a look one "in person"
  15. And I miss my '74 Vega Paul......or maybe not
  16. Some beautiful pictures there MB, thanks !!
  17. Can't think of a better place for all that gold Phil
  18. You've gotta switch up the baits now & then, find out what their looking for. Their in there, you just need to figure the pattern.
  19. If I was unemployed and out of money, I'd be worrying about lots more things than fixing up my boat. But maybe that's just me....
  20. Great news Bruce, you've put your time in for that big girl and she's well deserved !! Kudo's to you too for thinking of the health of the fish rather than a picture.
  21. This weekend Pete, stay tuned
  22. I guess my mornings going better than yours...
  23. 10 minutes ago & mornings don't get much nicer than this
