  1. It's amazing what some folks do for fun that most of us would never even consider
  2. 10 or 12 years ago my bro and I were staying near Gowganda during the hatch and we had the best bass fishing I think I've ever seen. There were lots of trees overhanging the waters edge and wherever the trees were touching the water is where most of the Mayflies were and they were literally covering the water and the branches. We started casting ChugBugs right into the thickest parts of them where the trees met the water and we were getting good sized fish on nearly every cast. If we moved away from the Mayflies the bite would stop. It was an incredible few days of fishing and I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before or since.
  3. I've seen the pictures and the fish is huge. You don't need to waste your time explaining yourself as far as I'm concerned Bruce and if you did post the pic, or even if your bud posted it, we all know a few guys would just destroy the post anyways. And it usually happens from all the wannabe's too.
  4. A good technique for those who are too lazy to cast & crank

  6. Muskies become VERY active and aggressive just before the storm hits and it's one of the best times to fish for them. Just depends how close you like to be to the lightning.
  7. Just saw it on Global about the severe storm warnings between Huntsville & Parry Sound.
  8. Along with the 1st AID and CPR, also learn how to perform the Heimlich Maneuver. It's very simple to do, but it's also very effective, and chocking is something that can happen to anybody at anytime, whether at home, in a restaurant or deep in the bush.
  9. My boat has a built in conduit running under the floor from the stern to the bow and it can be accessed from either end. It's meant to run cable from the front mounted charger to the rear mounted cranking battery You may find the same set-up on your boat.
  10. I'm just the opposite cause when I'm fishing nasty areas I remove my stainless prop and put on the cheap aluminum spare and when it gets dinged or ruined I'm not out alot of $$$$
  11. Thanks for that MB, an excellent read as always !!
  12. We don't have gas here and switched to propane and just swapped out the gas jets with propane jets that came with the stove, and as davey mentioned, a regulator is also required.
  13. He's got my vote Dan, I love those old classics !!
  14. Every March my wife and all her girlfriends get together at one of the homes for a "wild & whacko" weekend....my words, not hers. The last 2 years it's been held here so both times I packed my suitcase and spent the weekend in the local hotel & restaurants. Expensive, but well worth every penny just for my own sanity
  15. My boat/motor came from the factory with a transom saver already installed and I can't imagine Skeeter/Yamaha would do that if it was a waste of money or not advised.
  16. Congratulations Simon, that's definetely a couple accomplishments to be VERY proud of !!
  17. Always enjoy your Specktacular reports and as usual this one was excellent, thanks for taking us along. Beautiful country and great pictures.
  18. Great stuff Mike, you must have made quite an impression on them !!
  19. I now have a permanent automatic standby 10KW Generac wired directly into my house, but before that I had a 6500 watt Champion that worked very well when I needed it. A year ago we lost power for 50 hours and it performed flawlessly the entire time. I don't know how the Champions stand up over the long haul but I was very happy with mine and the way it performed. For the 50 hours it powered the house it used $100 worth of gas but that was about the same as the other portable generators on the road. It was also quite noisy but no more than the others around here. I think HONDA puts out one of the best portable units but I think their also several times more expensive.
  20. That's interesting Dax, I've got a Lowrance Globalmap 7200 GPS that sits on the dash right behind the Taylormade windshield and the external antenna is only inches infront of the windshield and everything works perfectly. Infact the antenna is fine even when it's covered by the bow cover.
  21. Just be sure to get the proper size crimps for the fluoro your gonna be using Boss as there's different sizes.
  22. Congratulations to your daughter Dan, that's quite the accomplishment for her, your wife & you must be very proud. As for the accident, thank God nobody was injured and hopefully the courts will do something to slow that other driver down next time.
  23. You should be able to get everything you need at JB's Boss, if your in the area that is.
  24. Most of the fish we got on Angus were small pickeral but the fella that owned the cabins had boats on a bunch of surrounding lakes. There's a path that goes up and over the hill from the west shore of Angus that leads to a whole string of lakes you can boat to and we got some very nice fish there, including a very big pike that my brother got...maybe 18-20 pounds or so. If he's not booked up...and for a fee...he may even rent you a boat on the other lakes, but I'm just guessing here.
