  1. Here's the new boat the OPP will be using in the Kawarthas. 21' Boston Whaler with a 300 HP Merc. You won't be outrunning these guys Ernie  http://www.mykawartha.com/news/article/1358289--peterborough-county-opp-buy-new-motorcycle-and-boat
  2. That wouldn't have gone over too well I'll bet
  3. You put in some tough years from the sounds of it and now you deserve the more normal life with your kids and it'll be great for both them and you. Happy kids are worth LOTS more than $$$$
  4. Great looking boat and with that full windshield and stand-up top you'll be more than comfortable when the weather turns nasty. Never had any experience with the Suzuki's myself but I've heard alot of good reviews on them.

Your more than welcome to the old mesh, but it'll be a freebee. I'll send you the directions to my place.

    Musky net

Thanks guys, I think this net is gonna work out very well. Dax, I'm wondering if your thinking of the bags without the coating to protect the fish ?? This one has the coating but it's still quite soft, infact it's much more flexible than the Frabil bag.
  8. For the last 6 or 7 years I've been using a Frabil musky net. I was always happy with the very strong frame & hoop but never really liked the bag. It's big enough but tapers to the middle and it often made it awkward getting the fish out. I've fished with friends that use Beckman musky nets and I always liked the big Fin Saver Pen net, but found the handles and hoops to be very flimsy. Their basically a big flatbottomed holding pen and it just makes life much easier when the fish can lay in the open bag. I decided to have the best of both, so I ordered a replacement Beckman bag and put it on my Frabil frame. This makes a great set-up now and will be much better for releasing muskies. 1st pic is the old Frabil bag and you can see how it narrows to basically a point. And this is the new Beckman bag on the old Frabil frame. It's a good sized bag and is wide & deep but you can see how it's square and flat on the bottoms and sides. It'll be much easier on both the fish and myself. I tried all over Southern Ontario and nobody had the bag so I called Rollie & Helens Musky Shop in Wisconsin and they had it to me in less than a week.....great service and it only cost me $12 to have it sent up Priority Mail. I seems as though Beckman is owned by Lindy Fishing but this darned net is Made in China Don't we make ANYTHING in North America anymore ??
  9. None in Nipissings West Arm either.
  10. What a great looking pup !! You'll have a bud there for alot of years.
  11. Hope you can make it down for a visit Guy
  12. I've always assumed the manufacturers tell us to do things for a reason and have always followed the manual. I figure if they wanted us to hammer a brand new motor and run it hard straight out of the crate, they'd tell us to do just that. I always buy everything brand new, do what is recommended and all my gear lasts me a long time, but maybe I'm wrong ??
  13. The price of some of those baits could be compared to jewellery too Paul
  14. Howzbout a big ole wooden box for carrying all my 10" Boo-Tails It's not fancy but it keeps everything in it's place and the air holes let the baits dry out after a day of fishing. I no longer have this box but it was something like 12 x 20 x 12
  15. Just because a guy sells outboard motors doesn't mean he actually knows anything about them. Do what the manufacturers manual says.
  16. Could that be the old Merc's your thinking of ??
  17. Jeeez Bill, that looks just plain nasty. Bad enough when it's in a hand but under the fingernail must have been alot tougher for the Doc to push thru ??
  18. Obviously if someone doesn't have the money it's expensive Pete, but I'm just saying I'd MUCH rather pay $20 for a good ramp, rather than using a poor ramp for free. Alot of these places put a pile of $$$$ into their ramps and docks, and they also often have gas available and even washrooms sometimes and I'll gladly pay to use them.
  19. I doubt even a CO would give you a problem with taking a picture of a fish in the water while your removing the hooks, or even a pic of you measuring the girth while reviving that brute. Let's have a boo at the beast
  20. It's funny how different folks view things, cause I find $20 to be VERY reasonable for a good ramp with docks. I regularly pay $15 - $20 in the Kawarthas and don't mind at all. I've used both the LSC ramps in question here and find them both in pretty rough shape but prefer the Jennings ramp over the Lighthouse. We'll be coming down this fall as usual and I'll definetly be checking out the marina ramp that you guys are talking about. Until I read Mikes post I didn't even realize it was available to the public.
  21. If you've got rails on your boat, there's also a Downeaster that'll clamp on there too.
  22. 75 fish makes for a fun day Doug, even if you don't win.
  23. When I saw the 1st few pictures and then the BBQ, I thought you were gonna say you were cooking up moth-kabobs Your livin the life my friend and I can't believe how much your younguns have grown. Good to see Moniques Mom enjoying herself at camp too
  24. Maybe he doesn't have a copy of the regs Dax I didn't have a copy awhile back when I needed to know when the musky opener for Nipissing was so I came on here and asked the question and I was given the info I needed. If everybody knew all the answers to everything and nobody asked any questions, we wouldn't have nearly as many interesting discussions around here as we do now. And for what it's worth, I still don't have a copy of the regs.
  25. It opened last Saturday
