  1. Big fish for sure !!
  2. That's the part that counts right there !!
  3. Be good to see you again Moe.
  4. Alot of the 400 series reels are good, I use CT's & TE's myself for most baits, but for sheer cranking power for large bladed musky baits you can't beat the 7000 series reels. Crank Double 13's with a CT or TE for a couple hours, then switch over and use a 7000 series reel and you'll be amazed at how much easier it is. I'm a diehard Shimano fan and have been for many years, but unfortunately they don't have a 7000 series I like for casting and Abu does, that's the only reason I'm using it. As I said earlier, it's not nearly as smooth as my Shimano reels, but for sheer cranking power, it's excellent.
  5. On my 8" musky twitch baits with 3 trebles I remove the center one completely and up the front treble from 5/0 to 7/0. Baits bigger than 8" I leave as is. Don't know if that helps you or not....probably not
  6. For big hard pulling baits and jerkbaits I use a 7000 Abu Pete. Not the smoothest reel on the market but with large spool it brings line in very fast and has plenty of power for the Double 10's
  7. Where you work Moe, you can't tell if it's sunny, raining, winter or summer anyways
  8. Just one more advantage to retirement, if it rains the day you had plans, just change your plans to the next day
  9. It'll be sunny & warm again by Monday
  10. I haven't been down there in years jedi, but at one time we used to head there for big family picnics. Really nice spot.
  11. When I said there were no markers Bob, I meant nothing to show the provincial or Canada/USA boundaries. Everything else is well marked as you say.
  12. Sometimes there's no way to know Bill as there are absolutely no markers of any kind where Mikes talking about. It's a huge body of water that touches 2 provinces and the US. Sorta like trolling across Lake O with nothing on your GPS and putting your finger directly on the Canada/US border.

    Garbage

There's not garbage everywhere in the Kawarthas, infact 99% of the area is beautiful and very clean, it just seems to be a small percentage of the spots that have the garbage problem. It's been my experience after a lifetime of fishing this region, that the worst place for the pigs to throw their garbage is the places where folks fish from shore, or else the free boat ramps like the causeway on Chemong. The vast majority of "pay as you use" boat ramps are kept clean.
  14. Nah, it's more fun slammin some poor soul for holding a musky wrong
  15. That's a few excellent pictures, thanks for putting them up !! I always think of moose as very majestic critters, specially the males and it's always good to see them. Coming down hwy 11 near North Bay a couple years back there were 3 of them standing just off the hwy watching the cars go by.

    Garbage

Years ago my old pal Andy had a very miserable neighbor who hated absolutely everybody she ever knew. Andy also had a very tiny dog that never left his property. One day the old lady came out the front door and found a very big pile of doggy doo on the front lawn. She was outraged and scooped it up with a shovel and tossed the doo over the fence onto Andy's front lawn. Andy screamed at her and asked "what the hell are you doing lady" ?? to which she replied, "that mess must belong to you as I don't have a dog" Andy was a pretty laid back guy and said nothing more but just waited his turn. Andy had no trees on his property but the old girl had 2 massive oak trees, one in the front yard and one in the backyard. As Autumn approached all the leaves began to fall and as always, 1/2 of them ended up on Andy's property. As he always did, he raked them up and filled about a dozen big bags with leaves, then set them aside and waited. Over several days he watched the old girl rake her leaves from her side, then haul all the bags to the curb for pick-up. After the garbage truck left, Andy methodically took all his bags next door to her nice clean lawn and began dumping them all over the ladies property. She eventually saw what he was doing and came storming out of the house screaming and asking what the hell he was doing. Andy calmly said, "these leaves must belong to you lady, cause I don't have any trees" I miss my old pal Andy, he was a pretty kool dood !!

    Garbage

    Great story Mike !!
  18. I fished Dummer with a resident of the lake a few years ago and he told me it was basically landlocked and you couldn't go thru to Stoney by boat. One of the homes had a private boat ramp and evidently that's also the only way to get your boat in or out of the lake. At least that's what I was told me

    Garbage

I posted the original thread Pete, so if your query was directed at me, you already know the answer.

    Garbage

We fished Chemong yesterday and the amount of garbage we saw thrown around the causeway was unbelievable. Even in the parking lot there were a couple garbage cans, yet some slob threw his crap on the ground not 50' away from them. It's pathetic that we have to share our world with such filthy pigs.
  21. I can vouch for the quality of both MikeP & Joey's baits.
  22. Attaboy, 50's are always nice !!
  23. Starting to look like you and me are never gonna share a boat Marty
  24. A friend had a 12' tinnie with a 9'9 Evinrude that porpoised like crazy for 10 years. I asked him why he didn't fix the problem and was told it was un-fixable as that's how it came from the dealership I reached down the transom and flipped the manual trim in 1 notch and the problem instantly disappeared. The look on his face was priceless
  25. Mike, I'm no boat expert but I'm wondering if you have a problem with your hull cause it shouldn't be that difficult to get rid of porpoising in a 16' boat. I purchased a new 17' boat once that would tilt about 45 degrees to port as soon as I hit around 30 MPH. Turned out the hull was hooked near the stern and that was causing the problem. Dealership ended up giving me another new boat. I'm wondering if something similar could be causing your problem.
