  1. I spent alot of time talking to him about the war Bill and it's unbelievable the horror those guys went thru in the trenches. Stuff most of us couldn't even begin to imagine.
  2. My grandfather fought in the trenches of France during the war to end all wars and had a bomb explode right over his head one day. A bunch of his buds were killed and he ended up with a whack of shrapnel imbedded in his body. The doc's were able to remove all of it except one piece and till the day he died many many years later you could still see & feel the black lump of metal buried under the skin in his arm.
  3. Those V-Rods were excellent Marvin and it's good to hear your Dad is still getting lotsa use out of them. I had 5 of them matched up with Curado's & Castaic's but once I gave up bass fishing they were just gonna get dusty around my place and that's never a fitting end to quality gear.
  4. Hey Marvin, I don't see the V-Rod in that picture that I sold you years ago....it musta went in another tackle purge eh ?? That's a pretty impressive collection of fishing poles there my friend
  5. Because muskies are special
  6. It's a shame that so many musky posts go down the drain on this board but it's also the reason so many serious musky fishermen no longer post fishing reports here.....me for one. nancur373, just ignore the remarks of guys that want to ruin these posts and continue to learn from other guys who don't think their perfect. And when guys do complain about vertical holds, just ask them how they lift THEIR muskies outta the net if it's not a vertical hold until they can get 2 hands on it. Some of you guys are just plain friggen pathetic. Again nancur373, congrats on a nice looking fish and your new PB.
  7. A large net is much easier to use, specially if your fishing alone.
  8. Any chance that 10 amp fuse is the wrong size for your motor and was put in by mistake ?? The main fuse for my 150 Yamaha is 50 amp and the smallest for anywhere on my motor is 20 amp. My last motor was a 90 Merc and the main fuse for that was 30 amp. 10 amp just seems kinda small to me for the main fuse. But then again, I'm no mechanic
  9. Congrats on the new PB, she's a beaut !! No need to apologize either.
  10. Very nice indeed Rolly !!
  11. C ya
  12. We do that up here on the back deck all the time Art and your right, it works wonders for keeping the bugs away.
  13. Don't feel bad davey, my brother lived there for 15 years and I still forget how to spell it
  14. I don't fish for pike, infact I consider them nothing more than a nuisance, but IMHO I don't think their the least bit line shy and will hit just about anything that crosses their path. When I'm fishing muskies on the West Arm of Nippissing it's nearly always big baits with 130# fluoro and some days you can't keep them off your hooks. I'm talking foot long lures or large spinnerbaits with up to #13 tandem blades and 7/0 hooks either casting or trolling up to 6 or 7 MPH and their hammering them. I took this pic last year just cause I thought it was amazing what those little slimers will hit. Toss whatever you've got in the box and a pike will grab it
  15. Your doing a great job Gerrit, on both ends of the age scale !!
  16. I had my thumb sliced open by a musky tooth one time and ended up with 8 stitches in it. The Doc told me the combination of fish slime & bacteria from the lake water is a very bad combination and to ALWAYS get any serious cut checked by a doctor.
  17. Lemme know next time RG, I live only 3 miles north of there now.
  18. Always good when a boat gets set up properly and running just the way it's supposed to. Your also gonna be very happy with that Guest charger too RG. I put one on my last boat back in '99 and it's still going strong to this day. As for the mechanics at Hastings, I agree, their all very good and also extremly friendly. I was there a couple months back for some minor warranty work on my Yammie & they treated me like royalty.
  19. It was definetely a very enjoyable week Rich and as always, it was great spending so much time with you & Patsy and thanks again for dinner. Can't wait to get back up in a few more weeks.
  20. Always fun spending time with you guys Joey and as usual your pictures turned out fantastic. We left about 6:30 yesterday morning and got home about noon. Here's a few pictures I got with you, Paul & Ralphie. See you again in a few weeks.
  21. He's turning out to be a great little pooch Brian !!
  22. Good to see you made it safely Rich, we should roll in around 10:30-11:00 And why are you on a computer and not out fishing ??
  23. Thanks folks, I'm looking forward to a great trip. And Joey, you tell Paul it'll be my pleasure
  24. The truck & boat are all washed, waxed, loaded and ready to roll at sunrise tomorrow morning. This'll be about my 8th year at Lakair on the West Arm of Nipissing and we spend about 3 weeks a year up there. The muskies can be tempermental at times and do a good job of hiding deep in the weeds, but with alot of effort they can be dug out. My last trip up there was 10 months ago when I was able to get these 3 pretty ladies. I know where these girls hang out and hopefully their Momma's will be there too. I don't bother posting many fishing reports anymore but if the Nipissing musky Gods smile on me next week I may just write one up
  25. I won't be coming down Mike, but I know you guys always have a great time with your g2g Just leave us a couple slimers for the annual October trip.
