  1. Great bunch of pictures of an awesome day from the looks of things !!
  2. That's just plain nasty !!
  3. Very similar to the boat & motor I learned to fish & water ski from in the 50's Pete, brings back some good memories. Ours was a pull start 25HP Sea Horse and I can still see my dad pull starting that big old beast. Funny thing though, back then a 25 was considered a big motor and we could just about outrun anybody.
  4. I also get the magazine delivered and just got my copy in the mail yesterday but haven't read any of it yet.
  5. Might be worth looking into Cliff, a neighbor had a beautiful red roof installed on his place about 4 years ago and after the 1st year or so the paint started coming off in big patches, as if it wasn't properly primed. He's now got a red roof with ugly grey patches all over it.
  6. The kids were riding on a dark country road, at 1:30 AM , while it was raining and only had reflectors on their bikes rather than headlights and flashing lights on the rear. That's probably why he thinks they have a case. Just another way of looking at it.
  7. 80 pound Fortrex with a 62" shaft for me, outstanding motor.
  8. Your the kind of fish'n partner I like Bill
  9. That was a great day Norm, really enjoyed spending the day with you. Unfortunately I lost a whole whack of pictures from my computer a couple years ago and the ones from that day were among them.
  10. I always try to buy my fishing gear from the small shops but sometimes it just doesn't work out. I want for a power handle for one of my Shimano musky reels and have called several shops around southern Ontario and even the States. Nobody has them in stock but everyone can order it for me. Price is in the $50 range plus tax plus $20-$25 shipping. I'm only about 25 miles north of Shimano in Peterboro and decided to call them. They get them from their California office and it'll only cost me $40 plus $6 to ship it all the way up here. Not a huge difference money wise, but it's better in my pocket that someone elses.
  11. No sneaking required Bill, we'll try and make it work this year for sure.
  12. I've fished it a couple times but without too much success. I've been going to the West Arm for 10 years or so now and know the area well and usually do good with the muskies, so that's the reason I keep going back.
  13. As I do every year, I'll be chasing muskies on the West Arm of Nipissing for a week in June and another 2 weeks in August. I've fished in a lot of places but have never found a place I like better.
  14. Sad day for both of us.
  15. Today, April 23rd, would be my son's 47th birthday, sadly though he was killed nearly 10 years ago and I figure he got ripped off for a whole bunch of living he should have had. Today, April 23rd, is also the 17th anniversary of my dad's death, yup, he died on his grandsons birthday, and was buried 2 days later on April 25th, his own birthday. Today's kind of a crummy day for me.
  16. I hear you Shane, but I spose these days the majority of folks don't want bare bones anymore and want at least a few basics like automatics, power doors and windows and air conditioning. Probably not much market for a basic truck anymore and not worth it for the truck manufactures to build them.
  17. Yeah, I'm only a few miles from there and get over that way quite often.
  18. My 2013 pick-up is just about fully loaded up with all the toys available and listed at $60,000 Shane. I buy a new vehicle every 3 years or so, as I've done for many years and their always nice ones. I'm not a yuppie citiot and I don't look cool no matter what I'm driving, but myself, along with thousands of other guys, just happen to like the extra comforts on a truck we worked long and hard to be able to afford. Doesn't make us bad guys.
  19. I bought a new Skeeter/Yamaha 5 years ago and wanted an SS prop and to be sure I got the best one possible for my rig I phoned Skeeter in Texas and told them how I wanted to use the boat. They told me which prop would best suit my needs and that's the one I had the dealer install and it works perfectly. It was probably a bit easier in my situation seeing as Yamaha owns Skeeter and it wasn't difficult for them to figure which prop would be best, but I'm sure in your case either Smokercraft or Merc should be able to figure out what would give you the optimal performance. If you don't have a tach, you'll need one to know what your rev's are at top end to be sure everything is trimmed properly.
  20. Also a waste of a beautiful animal.
  21. My neighbor down the road stores his 20' boat in his boat house for the winter but hoists it up on slings to keep it out of the ice. Now the water is rising so high (Clear Lake) that the boat is floating and the water is pushing it closer to the roof of the boat house. Trouble is the ice is only a couple feet outside the boat house and he can't get the boat out. Gonna be a tense few more days until hopefully the water level drops a bit.
  22. Well Joey, if it's in the Toronto Sun, it must be true
  23. Go and see him Matt and tell him what you just told us. Forget the past and start over now. Dad's are very good at forgiving.
  24. Yeah, I seem good now too, thanks Roy.
  25. Same at my end.
