  1. Winter should start on Christmas Eve and then spring can start on Boxing Day.
  2. I've got a big 1000 sq. ft. garage plus a 400 sq. ft. loft above it and park my boat & truck in there plus all my tools and everything else. Being out in the country I never bothered to lock the place as there had never been a report of anything ever been stolen on this road before until a neighbor down the road had his ATV stolen last year. I now keep the garage locked every night and leave an outside light on. Sad that we have to live this way but until our courts ever decide that these punks need to be dealt with SEVERELY, we don't have much of a choice I spose.
  3. Thieves are the skum of the earth.
  4. My chargers have always been in the bow Mike and never an issue
  5. Pretty sure 4x4bassin didn't mean to have the rock glowing red
  6. Years ago my brother knew a guy in Brockville that was killed along with 3 buds when their off shore style racing boat hit some type of structure on the St. Lawrence River doing an estimated 100 MPH in the dark.
  7. Couple nice fish there Pete & Andrew, congrats. Mikes a good guy that knows his way around the Big River.
  8. It's an excellent place and you'll really enjoy it.
  9. I purchased a pair of Group 27 series Kirklands from Costco in Peterboro 2 months back for $90 each minus $10 each for my old ones and figured that was a decent price....maybe I was wrong LOL
  10. We used to be called firemen till that became politically un-correct. If ya know what I mean Dax
  11. I don't know Mattaw but Rob (Speedtroll) and I have been friends for years and if he sold you something you'll know it's good. I've sold alot of stuff thru the OFC classifieds and every deal with our members has been a pleasure and I've made some great friends and fishing partners here.
  12. I've been fishing the Kawarthas for close to 60 years and can HONESTLY say, I've been stopped by a Game Warden exactly ONE time....and I think that's pretty sad.
  13. Very nice Doug, you don't miss too often.
  14. Atta boy Dave, huge fish !!
  15. My wife Diane has been known to her friends as Lady Di for many many years but she never got in as much trouble as that boat
  16. Couple years back I was fishing the same area, infact Wayne was with me, and we got stopped by the same boat but a different officer. He checked everything in my boat and I was fine until he asked about PFD's and I opened a floor locker and showed him they were there. He said they were sposed to be within easy reach and if we weren't going to wear them would we at least drape them over the back of the seats. He could have easily given me a big ticket because the jackets weren't accessible, but instead he explained what he wanted and let it go at that. And to me, THAT'S the way to handle minor infractions.
  17. Pike are insane and will hit just about anything you put in front of them and they don't care how big or small it is. This little fool tried to inhale a musky bait that was darned near as big as he was. There's hardly a day goes by on the West Arm that I don't get 1/2 a dozen dink pike on big musky baits And if you can figure out the location of that flat rock in the distance behind me, there's often a big musky or 2 just out in front of it...the rest is up to you
  18. Not sure exactly which cottage your staying at John but I go thru that channel all the time and would certainly know the place if there was a picture. Lakair Lodge is now out of business...sadly. Memquisit Lodge is about 3 miles east of there on the north shore or you can go 2 miles up #64 and you'll see their road on your right and just go down there 2 1/2 miles.
  19. Agree with you 100% Fred and am glad your here to verify my story. As for the over-loaded boat, I saw them leave the dock too and thought the same as you, that was very dangerous and the guy in charge put everyone else at risk. It was either 6 or 7 people in that 14' tinny including a couple small children with nobody wearing a life jacket, a large Golden Retriever and all their camping gear and there was only about 6" of freeboard when they went out. That's the boat the police should be looking for rather than harassing tourists who are doing their best to obey the laws.
  20. Heard on the news that Toronto City council has voted...or will in the near future...to ban the use of all E-Cigs on all City property....for whatever that's worth. Truer words were never spoken.
  21. Huge pike Luc and some real decent bass to go along with her.
  22. Let us know how your trip goes johnl, you'll be fishing in one of my favorite places in this entire province.
  23. You've got that right John, do you remember 3 years ago when I parked my boat right on top of a rock, in the EXACT spot the GPS said was 8' deep and no rocks anywhere in the area. Sometimes your GPS is just a fancy hood ornament.
  24. I saw the equipment and no offence taken.
  25. If your unfamiliar with those waters and your fishing at night without your friend, be very careful as some areas have lots of hidden surprises just below the waters surface that can put a real serious damper on your fun.
