  1. Neat, they look like they'd be great for carving. Any pics of the saw machine they use? Cheers
  2. Don't just check for voltage, do a continuity check as well. Resistance should be under 1 ohm. Hook up your leads to get a reading then wiggle wires around looking for any changes. Check the handle bar switch first then work from there down the line. Good luck.
  3. My tip of the day lol... I'm kinda surprised I've never seen these leader to line connectors mentioned anywhere. I've used them for ages and they just don't fail. There is no knot in the mainline, just a hairpin turn, compressed in a nylon pressure fit between a shaft and sleeve, and you can add/remove your leader of choice, up to four, anywhere on your line in like five seconds. They make for a good standoff from the mainline and also can be an attractant being white. Check them out, Bear Paw connectors. https://bearpawtackle.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=61 Cheers
  4. Lol I remember those times with OMC 9.9/15 outboards. What I also remember from back then is the best way to do it was to buy the 9.9 and install the 15hp kits. That way the model numbers match the cowling and the price was around the same as buying a new one for a 15. Plus you haven't done anything wrong, just souped up your engine a bit. Cheers
  5. Yep, lots of water out there.
  6. Did it mention that in the instruction manual? Cheers
  7. I've used those type for Whities on Bark lake with those old time tip ups where you set it right on the bottom using small salties for bait and the tip pointing just slightly down. When a fish takes it it does actually tip up, hence the original name. We caught Whities, Suckers and Lakers on them. Each shack came with a can full of small salties. After a few days though fingers got pretty rough from all that salt lol. However I use the two way spreaders on my "tip ups" for Walleye and Perch or even Lakers sometimes. http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/search-results.html?q=2 way spreaders I replace the hooks with a longer snell, which allows live minnows to swim freely . They also don't get snagged on the bottom of the hole like the three way ones do all the time with the long snells. Cheers
  8. They turn to mush once frozen. When salted they never freeze hard. Windshield washer fluid works well as a preservative too but I still add salt for flavour after taking them out of the freezer. Cheers
  9. That's a beauty Speck Joey. Congrats on the PB. We always called them switches, and that's all we use when fishing back lakes since the late 70's. They can be super sensitive when thin enough. I always like to be able to see the minnow swimming at the tip. One of my buds used them for everything. Cheers
  10. Very strange. The videos show up but I can't see a single pic. I've allowed every script and disabled both my ad blockers. When I refresh the pics start to show up but then disappear and all I see is the .jpg description. Maybe it's something with firefox but I've never had this problem here. I'll have to try a different browser and see if that works. Yep, tried Chrome and everything's fine. Much better. Ever since the newest so called latest and greatest version of firefox came out I've been having weird problems Great trip and nice pics. Cheers

    Ooma

I switched to OOMA two years ago and couldn't be happier. I did my research first and they got the best reviews. For under $5 /mo in regulatory fees I get free long distance in Canada and other options. If I wanted to upgrade to $10 I would have long distance in NA, three way calling and other features. Sound is really good for the most part and usually no delay. The only time I have issues is because my bandwidth is quite low at 3Mbps so if I'm downloading it does affect performance but that could be fixed by setting up QoS (Quality of Service) on the router. I got mine for $90 on sale and it payed for itself in less than two months by not paying Bell. I also got to pick my own number and best of all I have not had one spam call since I switched. You can also pay a fee if you want to port your old number over, but then you'll keep getting those unwanted calls. I would definitely recommend it. Cheers
  12. Wow, what an incredible story. I guess miracles still can happen. I got emotional just following the story, I can't even imagine how emotional it must have been for all those involved. They all deserve medals. Tks for the link OI. Btw the author is the Jane Sims lady in the videos. Shows it on the first page. Kudos to her. Cheers
  13. Lmao Doug, I think that dish OI and I were commenting on was Caponata, an eggplant dish with olives and capers. As for Puttanesca, we had my recipe again this past week and OMG it is so good. It still amazes me to make such a fantastic Italian dish in a 1/2 hour start to finish. It's makes enough for 4 large servings so we had it twice, once with sausage and once with shrimp. I could have had it again the next day even. You do have to like strong flavours though, which I do, and every time I try it I'm still thrilled at how well all those strong tastes come together. Just the aroma coming off the plate itself is wonderful. My own fresh garlic used twice and fresh grated parm on the plate help with that too. Cheers
  14. It is a very unique flavour for sure. A little goes a long way. Dougie, I like a pinch of the ground in mashed taters, along with finely chopped onion and fresh garlic of course. Or if I have some leek butter in the fridge that's a gimme in and/or on. Also add it to oil for brushing on tater quarters or veggies for roasting or grilling. I'm going to try the whole seeds in a jar or two of my next batch of olives next year. Toasting seeds for 5 batches sure does make a home smell great and Cardamom could be a nice addition. Cheers
  15. Best thing I could offer is to do a compression check before purchasing. That will give you the best indication on the engine condition. Cheers
  16. Yea no Brookies in Kipawa. I have no idea if any of the lodges have outpost lakes for Specks. There is a good laker population, and a very good Walleye pop. The upper third of the watershed now has a very healthy small mouth fishery that is slowly travelling south. But most of the members there focus on the Walleye fishery it seems, while we were different as we were there primarily for the Lake Trout, but over the years spent more and more evenings for Pickerel. My largest was over 11lb. Some guys used riggers for lakers, while a lot of us dragged gang trolls behind leadcore or copper line. That being said, jigging is certainly an option as there is a ton of structure everywhere up there and the long narrow layout of the waterbody and tons of islands means you can almost always get out of the wind somewhere. There are also plenty enough trolling methods with mono available like 3 way rigs or a light diver like the fish seeker on 10lb line or heavier divers on baitcaster rigs. Here's a quick glance at the whole waterway. That line is the 14 mile boat ride to Alwaki Lodge. That island right at the hub is where Corbeau Lodge used to be. It's now privately owned by Eric Lindros Cheers
  17. My first suggestion for a drive to location would be Kipawa, specifically the central part of the system at Alwaki Lodge which is a 14 mile boat ride, but the are many lodges throughout the whole water system. It is an absolutely gorgeous water body that yearly draws in many Americans from as far away as Texas. Walleye, Lake Trout and Pike are the main species fished for. Here's a quick story. Chris, a new member this past summer in the Kipawa fishing forums took his first trip up there after getting a ton of info from members. He was so impressed he went back up in September again. After that trip he went out and bought a new boat, had someone fabricate some real nice downrigger mounts and has now rebooked two trips for next summer again. He certainly caught the Kipawa bug big time. If this sounds appealing to you I would highly suggest visiting and even joining the forums at http://kipawafishingforum.net/index.php Members there are very helpful and there are tons of trip reports to check out as well. I can guarantee that you will be super impressed with the beauty of that area. You didn't say what time of the summer you wanted to go, but my suggestion would be July to mid August so that the bugs are way down and the water is warm enough to swim in. For me it just makes for a more enjoyable vacation. Cheers
  18. That is my understanding as well. Gasoline begins to degrade basically from the time you pump it.. Stablilizer stops the the octane level from dropping and in the case of seafoam also cleans and prevents phase separation. Drifter I was told by a small engine shop owner that even with a stabilizer in the fuel that carbs left with fuel in them will still create varnish as the fuel evaporates over time. I use SeaFoam in all my premium small engine fuel but still run the carb dry before storage for any length of time. Cheers
  19. Any chance of a plugged up fuel filter? Cheers
  20. I'm sure you'll manage with the PC stuff, if not let me know and I could walk you through it over the phone. As for the Kodi box I've never used one so I'm no help there. Cheers
  21. I've been using Seafoam for many years now. My understanding is that it will stabilize fuel for two years, not that any fuel should be kept that long anyway. I put it in my premium small engine fuel as soon as I buy it. And yes it does prevent phase separation, they've always touted this feature from way back. Cheers
  22. That does seem rather strange. You could go into device manager to check the ports you are using. Right click on computer and hit properties. Then click on device manager. Go down to all your different ports and expand them. Double clicking on any of them will bring up an window that will show you if the device is working properly. I also wonder if you have probs with some of your system files. A system file check might be in order if you feel up to it. Hit the windows key and type in cmd. Up top you will see cmd.exe. Right click on that and then click on "run as administrator". A new small command window will show up. Type in sfc /scannow and hit enter. This will scan all your system files for errors and repair them if it can. When it's finished it will give you a message telling you what it found and what it did. Don't worry, you can't hurt anything with this command. Cheers
  23. Yea right, sure. Tell that to all the people and companies who have been fined or worse for copyright infringement. Plus internet providers will throttle traffic from torrent sites. Plus they can forced to release any data they have on anyone's traffic. The best protection you can have is a vpn, that way no one can see what data is in the packets as it is encapsulated and encrypted. There is a good reason many companies also use them to hide data from prying eyes and allow remote users to safely access local intranet. Cheers
  24. Best $40 a year I spend. Well that and my voip phone. Just make sure to subscribe to one that doesn't log anything. That way the gov can't force them to reveal info they don't have. Cheers
  25. Yea, they are called environmental splices. I've used hundreds of them in the aviation industry on engine harnesses. You need a good heat gun with a u-shaped attachment on the end to deflect the heat to the back side of the splice so they shrink evenly for best results. Cheers
