If taking a photo of game is illegal many a wildlife photographer would be in deep trouble, photographing out of season would then apply to a photo as well then. Of course it isn't illegal. We have some pretty stupid laws but that isn't one, yet.

I was in the Sail store in Burlington this past Friday. On the second floor is what is supposed to be the world record moose from Alaska full mount on display. That rack on that Moose in Burlington is no where the size of the moose in the pic from the Yukon. The Yukon pic looks to be far larger. The distance from the inside of each side of the rack is maybe 3 feet on the mounted moose in the Sail store. I don't know moose but the one in the store doesn't look that huge to me. Has anyone here seen that mount in Burlington who knows what they're talking about? It may be the photo but the distance from the left and right side looks like much more than a few feet. Maybe like holding a fish towards the camera to make it look bigger.

I haven't seen a rack like that since I was in the Piccadilly on Barton Street in Hamilton before it closed. A farmer out here was raising them until someone opened the pens and they skedaddled. They didn't seem to thrive as none were sighted after the first year. How can a few herds of Elk do as much damage to crops as the many, many flocks of Deer here in Ontario? Or maybe they do? A real question from a citiot once removed.

We took a wonderful road trip from here (Selkirk) to almost the end of Long Point all along most of the Lakeshore. I saw not one single person shorefishing. There were more boats than I would expect out in the inner bay as the water had sat down but not one person from Dover to the Old Cut shorefishing. Including Turkey Point and Ryersee and Rowan. The most fish I saw were around the docks at the Port Dover Marina. Bluegill, very small perch and a few what I think were wait,,,,,, crappie. I don't think fishing is allowed there of course. Is it Rich? BTW did you get my PM Rich from last week?

Bill, I'll buy every 60" shaft 24V trolling motor you can get me for $400.00. I'll add a 15% finders fee on top of that. I have been on ebay and Kijiji and haven't seen any for that price tonight. I have seen some transom mounted 12V units with short shafts for around 500 but nothing like that described at that price. PM me if you have a lead at those prices. I'll buy them all.

BOAT, bring out another thousand (or more). I was at the Sail store in Burlington today and looked at a few with you in mind. I love spending someone else's money. I priced the 80 pound thrust Minncotta 60 inch shaft with I Pilot, wireless, for you and it came out to around $1700.00. The receptacle, usually mounted against the hull interior should be installed where water entering won't be an issue, it should be mounted at 90 degrees. $300.00 for 2 good batteries. He said we, I mean you, will need an on board charger as the batteries will most likely be housed under the bow and difficult to access. It may not be a do it yourself mounting as there most likely isn't a flat spot on the bow and it needs to be on level as to deploy straight down, so mounting may be tricky. You asked is it worth it? That's up to you now. If it isn't a must have I wouldn't unless a bowrider, then to spend that much bread it would have to be a must for me. It looks like a nice boat, what percentage of the retail price of the entire boat would this accessory be? For that much money I would hire a student to row the boat for the summer, a bit to the right son, yes that's good, no a bit more, left, go left now.

You should be charged for theft. $150.00 up where you are is like $15.00 in southern Ontario money. What about one of those transom mounted electric trollers mounted below the water line next to the prop I've recently read about. I've never seen one, Yea probably because they are underwater, duuuuuu. They can't be cheap either.

A neighbour here has a Lund Tyee I believe, it is a very deep minimum 24 footer I/O and he has a Motorguide up front so shaft length shouldn't be a problem. I would sell even give you mine but removing the built in bow plug and chasing the wiring to the panel wouldn't be worth the time. Besides I haven't run it for 2 years so I have no idea if it even works now. The 2 new batteries will set you back at least $250.00. In my experience any electronics should be a new purchase, as Lew says, buy new. I would think that glass ChrisCraft is fairly heavy and you need to go with a 24 volt system with at least 70 lbs thrust. There not exactly cheap with wireless remote.

I don't think the deck is designed to stand on. I wouldn't. A remote control is an option for you and as everything else it all depends on your budget. Also what type of fishing you do? I have only used my Motorguide a hand full of times in 5 years as we are on Erie and drift, troll or still fish. We call it the hood ornament. I find it underpowered at 55 pounds and 24 volt for my 19' deep "V". Any wind and I'm concentrating on working the thing not fishing. It's always windy most days out here. It has a remote foot pedal, I don't like it, just my opinion. Working bays, small shoals and rivers it would be a must. I probably should use it more but don't. JD

Any reports of catches between Port Dalhousie and the Niagara River folks?

When I was able to bushwhack into streams and rivers in the fall was always the best time for Smallmouth for us. Normally we couldn't get to them in the summer as they were deep in the lakes when we didn't have access to a boat. Fall was best for us. The Maitland river was a honey hole for smallies. I'm not sure about now. Leech like plastics and Mr. Twisters on jigs, shinner imitation minnow baits fished slowly brought nice catches of bass. Find a bend in the river and fish the undercut of the bend, slowly. Drifting a black twister rigged below a quality float was a winner as well. And rigged California style as well, which is simply a hook, rubber and a few splitshot above the hook enough to bounce bottom. Burleigh Falls from the rocks held Bass and Walleye. Port Maitland pier is also hot this time of year before and after dusk for nice Walleye on Reef Runners and deep diving Rappala's. Bounce the bottom which is about 12' to 15'. Be careful of climbing around the rocks, bring a long handled net.

F150, say it isn't true. Look at them all, especially a Chevy, please. There are great deals out there now on 2013's. I bought a new Chevy in November of 2011 and it was about 10K less then the equivalent F150 then with all the rebates for cash and retire your ride. I may have gone Ford if not for the pricing. I didn't even consider Chrysler because of a business partners bad customer service experience and 2 trannys in as many years shortly after the warranty was up. Good shopping and enjoy the new ride even if it is a Ford!

I have a 25 pounder hanging on my kitchen wall. I caught it in Skugog in 81', before I learned catch and release. The report states; "The tiger muskie was examined by a fishery biologist with the Idaho Fish & Game Commission before being certified as a new state record. The fish was certified as a new world record by the Modern Day Muskie World Record Program. For more information about Kalinowski’s record catch, " I would presume in order to be examined by the biologist the fish was killed. That is sad. Unless the post mortem examination can further the science of the species that is rare I have come to learn and it's death would not be in vain. If it's not rare I haven't seen any before or since. Are they rare? By the way the mount was done by Joe Martin from the Hamilton mountain that is an award winning taxidermist back in the day and did fantastic work. I hope Joe is still around and still doing his fantastic work. Fish Farmer if you are reading this you would probably be aware of Joe and his work. Is Joe still with us I hope?

I agree 100%, and couldn't say it any better. I do sometimes enjoy reading what a few dolt trollers and true animal activists have to say for entertainment purposes only. The amazing thing is that the P3ta folks actually believe what they say most times. The admin folks should let that side pipe in once and a while this winter, if only to break the boredom with the lack of soft water threads. I can only read so much about ice fishing and hunting and stay interested. Just a thought.
