  1. Hard to read underwater Albert. Merry Christmas to you and the family.
  2. In 1986 our new build neighborhood had a central mailbox in Stoney Creek. This isn't something new. I had a bar where the posties from downtown Hamilton came in at noon at the end of their shift. There is 173.33 hours in an employment month, 2080 annually, do the math, the hourly rate is very high. If a postie makes 40K a year ( I have no idea the wage) and works 4 hours a day that's $38.46 an hour, not bad. A new member here Garzy something is someone obviously very close to the posties. He has some good points, some I wasn't aware of. But he said Harper is trying to get in part time uneducated individuals with "low morals". What in hells name does education have to do with morals. That's how someone that has something good to say looses me. Keep to the facts man, or lady. There was a time that good workers used horses to deliver block ice to your home. And the guy that came down the street in a cart, in my lifetime, sharpening knives, or a steelworker that could put 30 years in hell in a plant working every holiday and weekend and come out with a pension, maybe, they survived somehow. Time to accept the future and the future is now.
  3. The idiots started getting out of the cars more than 4 minutes before all the carnage stopped. I'm surprised only one person lost his or her life that is sad but lucky only one. Is the video sped up? Even if it was sped up, too fast is too fast. I have never seen a Nascar driver get out of the car in the middle of a crash, unless the car or someone else catches fire. Notice it all continued until a 52' rig stopped in the middle of the highway, even then someone flew past and struck the cars and people on the right shoulder. I counted 8 people out of their cars at one point with more numbers heading towards them. Then more than a dozen on the opposite highway for a shot at getting hit there. What are people thinking? Is it shock? An inherent human reaction for some people to help? What? My cousin and her 2 little one's were struck waiting for a tow on the I-90 outside of Buffalo when she got a flat. Someone said she was crossing the highway when it happened. Yes they were very seriously injured. One kid limps today 25 years latter. Intelligent yes, she's has her PHD in nursing, stupid, yes that too, unfortunately intelligence and common sense aren't always a crossover. Last year we watched a VW fly past us on a very icy #11 with ski's strapped to the roof just north of Webers, we all said he's going to be in the ditch when we get to him. There he was upside down when we finally caught up. And of course a bunch of people standing around the car. I know there are some big rig drivers here, would you stop the tractor trailer and put your rig in the path of these idiots coming in at 100K or more to warn them to slow down? Looking at the video it's when that guy stopped most of the oncoming traffic slowed down except for one that swerved to miss him and piled into the cars and people on the right shoulder. I'll have to look but a few big rigs went through the traffic unscathed. Those gals and guys know how to drive. This video is going to all my family that thinks because having snow tires means 120K on the 400's makes you good to go. And the nieces are all driving those little 4 bangers with rear drum brakes and 13 inch wheels with a Bluetooth in one ear, stereo at 100db, with a coffee in one hand and talking to the office doing business. If the speedometer goes to 160 it must be safe to do 125. One sister in law actually told me they wouldn't make cars that can go that fast if it wasn't safe to. Scary stuff boys and girls very scary. Lew where do you find this stuff? Thanks for the link, maybe it will convince one person to slow down.
  4. Very interesting job for those looking for employment. Too late for this guy. Can be a tad messy and in 99% of cases hazardous if proper safety precautions aren't taken. Way back when, I found that most of the MOE inspectors and investigators were no nonsense retired lawmen, mostly RCMP folks and you will meet them in probability, they ask everyone questions. The best thing about being on the clean up side of a spill you don't have to explain why it happened. That is of course you don't make things worse in the execution of your duties. It will take you to all types of environments, industrial, commercial, laboratories, hospitals, sites of spills of everything from car accidents, train derailments to house fires and marine spills and will meet individuals from all walks of life. I don't know if Rod casters company offers biological clean up but if you don't like the look of blood and guts it might not be something you would be able to handle. Someone has to clean up the site where blood is present in copious amounts. Think Coroners office, I don't need to get graphic to get the point across. I'll tell you it won't be boring. What a bonus working from home. Plenty of time for fishing and hunting. If you're a 9 to 5 kind of guy or gal that doesn't like excitement or action this isn't the thing for you. You need to stay sober as you may be called into action at any given time. The crews we used were drug tested regularly. Wormdunker, it entails more than throwing some Speedy Dry on some oil and shoveling it into a wheelbarrow. It's a bit more than a glorified laborer. Some of the stories the guys told me were something else.
  5. Back when the world champ in boxing didn't have 5 belts draped over his shoulder an opponent would have to knock him out or best him to a pulp perhaps to take the title. Read a play by play, sure read like a close fight. Will need to see the replay. Sounds like JSP is going to take a long break. He's done everything a world champion should, and with class. He has nothing to prove or win, all that is left is lose after a stellar career. That would be a shame. Stepping away from the ring after all he has done is the right thing to do now. No shame in going out on top, no shame whatsoever. Congratulations to all the fighters, no losers tonight.
  6. Talking heads were saying Evans was working through some issues and was going in angry, for all you UFC guys that follow, what issues? Glad he won, sort of a local guy Falls NY. Not far where I grew up as a child.
  7. Same here Lookin. I'm not touching them with a ten foot pole, nothings free.
  8. When the results are in can someone post them here please. Thanks
  9. I wanted to get into selling online, still may. But that Dillon Millard murder charge had me stepping back. I not saying someone is going to kidnap me for goodness sakes, but I don't like the idea of inviting some characters I have no clue as to who they are and what they're up to coming to home for me to make a few hundred bucks. Many no good dirty thieves use online websites to case places. Yes I'm very cynical now, life's experiences have made me get that way. I could always put a few more bucks into my jeans, but at what price? Security out in the sticks here is non existent during the winter. My kid brother sells online regularly, I told him if some characters that look like they need a hit of oxycontin tell them it's sold before they go into the garage. It may be Rob Ford campaigning though.
  10. KF, You've lost me here? How does the other messes relate to this mess.
  11. As the great orator Tiger Williams was often quoted saying, "He's done like dinner". What now? Eat in or take out?
  12. I started to make a post saying basically what you did, not my job. Emotions get the best of us on hot topics like politics and religion to name 2.
  13. 206, Best editing for a documentary, nope. Best still photography, nope. Best musical score, nope. Best supporting cast of fish, nope. Best boat featured in a foreign film, nope. Best motion pictures of 2013, yep. And best cast of characters as well. And the OFC Oscar goes to,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 206, his friends and family. Keep the speech short, the music is playing. .
  14. I regret starting this thread. I really do. I've been known a poop disturber in my former life. My wholehearted apologies for those looking to discuss, what was it? Oh yea fishing.
  15. Limeyangler, With your southern experience we should be asking you the questions. As in why do I always seem to attract the attention of the local crooked constabulary? Maybe it's my swarthy good looks and my Mediterranean completion? I think any of the hardware you have mentioned will do the job. I hope the extra weight charge from the airline isn't too high. In was on the south coast of England and watched local pier fish sometime ago. Amazing the difference in tackle and technique I saw in the UK. JD
  16. OK JB, agreed, but most lie till they die, we'll have to see how this thing plays out.
  17. What a great definition of a politician from Washington to the board of a fishing club. What I'm saying is I respect him for doing a 180 degree turn and telling the truth, late yes, but no Politian I know of has done that and survived even this far afterwards. They are going to have to kill the guy before he quits. No one can argue what he has done is not absolutely discussing, but he does his job, and well. Last night NBC, i believe, had a show "Top 10 political scandals", Ford didn't make the list, too soon I imagine, as far as scandals Ford wins hands down.
  18. With out going into detail of what has transpired this morning in Toronto, I can tell you in my opinion he is the only class act in this entire "Zoo". If a vote were to be taken today and I could vote he would be getting mine. I wish we had a guy like him here. We wouldn't be in this mess with the land dispute in Caledonia with the First Nation folks, or the wind turbines being pushed down our throats without any say. I couldn't say that about him after this circus all started in May, I had based an opinion of him without knowing what the guy was all about. As I'm sure many have.
  19. In my experience KG as well as what my wife tells me who has been running retail stores since a kid, retail price generally relates to the final cost of the product from raw material to out the door. Many times the more expensive item isn't as good as the less expensive product. I really look hard at testimonials from buyers for a product to help, not sway, my decision making for consumer goods. Good luck.
  20. If I was in the market Irish I would jump all over a Baron 2150 for that price. I don't even want to see a pic of it, I AM NOT IN THE MARKET. If one cares for their boat, or anything for that matter there is no problem flogging it when the time comes. I know I'll get what I paid for mine after 4 years of using it, maybe more with the upgrades I've added. This year I got everyone going when the first time out one of the guys dropped some worm dirt on the carpet, out came the Dust Buster I stuck in a bag on board and I started vacuuming the rug! I wouldn't want to be around the first time I kissed the dock if I had a new boat, it would kill me. Someone has to buy it new first might as well be Pyro.
  21. Actually JB it's mostly plastic! The underside of any vehicle isn't pretty, that's why I think it is important to take it through a car wash at least once a month and get as much salt off as possible, twice in the winter and give it an oil spray every fall. The touch free car wash in PT. Dover is 12 bucks, for me to hand spray the body only can be up to $22.00 of shrapnel. I think the consensus here is take some time to take care of the trailer and it will last you many, many years. It all depends on how much sweat and money you want to put into it.
  22. Best to embrace winter than fight it off until spring. That's why I'm heading south asap. Virginia looks better then that ice stuff.
  23. Drifter let me know how you make out. We have the same engine, you go first!
  24. I always hear steel rusts from the inside out, not true. The reaction is the iron (Fe) in the steel (80%) comes in contact with both air (O2) and moisture (H2O). Steel is monolithic, unless there is a crack, scab or occlusion penetrating the core all rust starts on the surface. Usually the portion unseen and therefor uncared for, so it would be more accurate to say from the underside out not the inside out.. Like the inside of a pipe, tube or underside of a sheet. Fe+02+H20= fe0+fe0203 (nasty old rust) Old Ironmaker
  25. My vehicles get soaked every time it rains, it takes years to rust if not taken care of. Shouldn't a good automotive quality paint job and clear coat protect it as well if you want to pay for some good PPG paint? I ground and wire brushed all the rust 3 years ago, cleaned it with Spray 9, primed with automotive, applied a few good coats of Tremclad above and below, gave her a good coat of Mothers car wax, still looks pretty good. Even removed the fenders to do a thorough job. The only small spots that have popped up are on the welds that came off with some Spray 9 and a scrubbie. Next time if there is a next time I think I'll save my back and sandblast it. What about Rocker Guard?
