Calcutta. Without a doubt. I have a 400TE that is my Go to reel. I toss smaller stuff with my Curado 300E, jerkbaits with an Abu Record 60, an Abu 7000i for double 10s and another Abu 7000 for trolling. It took me 3-4 years to accumulate but now I do not need anything other than the odd new bait or leaders and some new line. Buy good gear, it will last and take a lot of use and abuse, cheaper gear will always leave you wanting and always end up needing to be be replaced because it falls apart. Welcome to the musky fray. Yuuup. It also helps if your pup has the runs. Pumpkin and sweet potato. They help settle the stomach and also help to regulate the colon. If they are stopped up, give them some sweet potato and/or canned pumpkin.

That would be a good rod to start a musky gear collection with. Its a bit short and a bit stiff for trolling but it will do.

If the guide is included. Do a trip with him. Going all the way up there and not catching much would be a huuuuge disappointment. I know a spot or two on Andrew Bay that hold skis and eyes. Met several people that were at Witch Bay. All had nothing but good things to say.

Witch Bay is a good spot to be in. The most amazing fishery in Canada. My in laws had a place on Route Bay, just off of Bigstone Bay. Walleye fishing was stupid good, pike great, smallie great, muskie elusive but I was new to muskie fishing at the time. I want another kick at that can. There are tons of lodges, places to rent and the like. All depends on how much you can afford to spend and how much timeyou have. I would suggest getting a guide. There is too much water and not every good looking spot holds fish and there are literally thousands of good looking spots.

Know this, you hit a stump or a rock with a ss prop, you will be needing a new prop shaft etc.... costing a few grand. A couple mph is not worth it. Try a run at full tilt. You need to know where you are rpm wise at wot to help you with selecting a prop. A 24v trolling motor will make a world of difference but it adds the weight of an extra battery. You should re wire it with a good thick guage of wire, thicker the better because you will have bettercurrent flow to the motor, helping it last longer and work more efficiently. Go with brand new for a fish finder. You will have a warrantee. Save up a bit longer if need be. Enjoy your boat.

They make a nice hull and have great layouts. Resale is good too. Up there, make sure you buy a brand that has a dealer nearby. Would be a pain to have to go to TBay or the 'Peg to have warranty work done.

Improvements are a huge thing in parks. How long have the owners been there?? How big is the park?? The clique thing exists but if you are nice and friendly to everyone, soon enough you'll join the gang. What is included in the price?? AC allowed or not?? Do you pay your own hydro? There are a lot of factors. DO NOT for your first trailer buy brand new, the depreciation will absolutely murder you. Buy something older but in good shape to try outthe lifestyle. If the park does not work out, you don't get slaughtered. Dip your feet in first.

My kids really want to get out too. We'll be back fishing Lake 'X' again Friday morning for a few hours.

I know I am a week late but I was busy last week with work commitments. Our 23rd annual boys fishing trip was a relative success. We have been going to a spot in the Muskokas for a looong time. It never fails to produce some decent fish. 31 lbrs have been caught there in past years. This time around, we landed 3 10 lb fish, a 9lbr, a few 2-5 lbrs that graced the pan while we still fished on and a 14 and a half pounder was the big fish. A buddy broke the cardinal rule and brought his 9 year old son up, we let him reel in the big fish. While our wives and children have NEVER been allowed we made an exception this time. The look on his face when he saw the fish go in the net was priceless. The next generation will be ready in a few years. He could not get enough freshly caught freshly fried up spring pike, I thought he would burn himself... good times with good friends.

Be very careful with this. Drifter lives up in NWT. Not a big dealer network. In Barrie, you can bet that the dealers like Georgian et al will be quite incensed to have independant shops do warranty work as it is one of their biggest money makers. Oil changes and routine maintenance can be done by anyone AS LONG as the parts used are OEM or warranty approved parts. Keep all receipts for any work done.

Thats good news. You should get a voltmeter and track down what is draining your battery though. Youtube university and a voltmeter are all you need...that is unless one of our more learned members pipes up and helps which will probably happen anyways.

Check the connections to the battery to make sure they are clean and tight. If so, try boosting it if you have a spare battery around. That is your simplest course of action. If it starts, your battery is pooched. If not, check to see if anything electrical works or not, power trim, lights, radio..... if they work, you may have a blown main fuse to the motor. If that fuse is fine, try tapping the starter with a hammer, if that works, you will need to either rebuild it or replace it, tapping is a temporary fix at best, it will leave you stranded.

That royally sucks Wayne!! Such is life. Death and taxes. I mention Jen to a couple of people I know battling cancer. Climbing the stairs to the top of the CN tower with no hip took a huge amount of bravery and intestinal fortitude. That is how it has to be fought. She inspired me through my own battle, I thought I had it bad, nope, this young girl had it worse and did not let it slow her down. As far as this kid is concerned, Jen is a true Canadian hero.
