  1. The Muskokas have settled down a bit, with this rain however.......
  2. Lake Rosseau is up a couple inches in the past few days. The worst is not over for Lake Muskoka.
  3. The dead trimmings from the vines. Sublime.
  4. I brought one of those years back. They are cheap and if you get 2 years out of it, you are ahead of the game. They are pretty much disposable and for 1-3 people, perfect. I've got you beat though, when our Barbie at the cottage had a nice fire caused by spider webs in the Gas tunes, I took the heavy cast iron grates and put them over a couple concrete blocks and voila!! A nice BBQ pit that doubles as a small fire pit. You really can't beat charcoal, what is better but hard to get is dry grape vines. Bbq'ng on those is unbelievable.
  5. Ditto on heavy equipment mechanic. If diesel does go the way of the dodo bird, there is still the whole hydraulic system in play. Bill, as for Nissan and the early CVTs, they had growing pains. Now, they are much much more reliable. Teething pains with new tech.
  6. If you stay with electric, the old style rings are the way to go. They don't look cool but they work great and are easy to replace. Otherwise, go with gas, you won't regret it. Besides, if the power goes out, you still have a source of heat to cook with.
  7. 2-3000lbs, you don't need a full size pickup. You can get by with a Toyota Tacoma or Nissan Frontier quite nicely. Both come in 4x4 and are more than capable enough. For the hairy snow, definitely invest in snow tires, they will be more helpful than awd or 4x4.
  8. Good to hear Cliff. You were always more than ready and able to help anyone from our group here. What happened in Mexico sucks but unfortunately it is something that happens at resorts quite often. Glad to hear you enjoyed Myrtle Beach. If you ever want to go for smallies in Muskoka, let me know.
  9. Lew, living in the north ish country, I'd wait till mid April. That said, you are retired so unless it's urgent, you don't have to leave the house.
  10. I will keep that in mind. Hopefully this year's expenses are only cosmetic. I need some cushions Re - upholstered.
  11. Gonna be lots of great used parts for sale.... Isn't that the Marina right in Rosseau by the beach?? We boat up there and spend the day. A short walk up the hill takes you to a great chip truck that's been there for years. The General Store is great too.
  12. Cdn Tire will always put the majority of power tools / and tools on sale for a great price at some point. Watch the ads leading up to any projects you might have. Have fun Lew!!
  13. Since my illness a few years ago, I decided to take my foot off the Gas and change careers. I started off helping a neighbour shuttle cars around for his Used Car Lot, a couple hours a week quickly became 50 hrs a week (took 2 weeks). I was running it for him for a couple of years while he was taking care of another business, I spent some time with another Dealer Group working their Used Car Dept and have now landed at Woodchester Nissan. I am a new and Pre Owned Sales Rep and also work in the Business Office as a Finance Manager specializing in difficult Credit Situations. If you are looking for a New or Pre Owned Vehicles, please feel free to contact me. I can get 99% of people approved, regardless of their credit. FYI, those looking for an ABSOLUTE BEAST of a Pickup truck, look at the Nissan Titan XD. Cheers and Tight Lines!!
  14. I tried it for almost a whole summer. I just could not do it.
  15. I stay in during winter. I sharpen hooks and dream about fishing in the spring/summer/fall......
  16. I'm a righty. I use a right hand baitcaster, I tried the lefty side but just could not get the hang of it. So I cast switch and retrieve. I use my left to retrieve with spinning gear. Go figure, I sure can't.
  17. Merry Christmas. This year was tough at our house too, we lost my dad in the late spring and it wasn't the same without him. Christmas is about spending time with family and remembering those that have left us.
  18. Vinyl is nice for easy cleaning. The ONLY problem with it is it gets hot in the sun, can't barefoot it in the boat on hot sunny days. Other than that, it makes for the best floor covering for marine purposes IMHO.
  19. Xylitol is lethal to dogs. As for chocolate, milk chocolate probably won't kill them but they will be up peeing a lot, a lot of milk chocolate could cause kidney damage, dark chocolate however is VERY BAD. A few ounces of it could be all it takes to kill Fido.
  20. That's a serious supertanker musky there Bunk!! Great Job!!!
  21. Any good quality synthetic motor oil that meets the specs will do the job just fine. I use Motomaster synthetic gear oil in my lower unit, better than the semi synthetic stuff marinas use. I run whatever 20w50 dyno oil I find on special in my i/o, the key being yearly oil changes.
  22. Quantum Hot Sauce. I use that s....t on all my reels. The oil and the grease. It made my cheaper Abus a heck of a lot smoother. If you fi d it, it is worth the price.
  23. If you have a squeaky clean record, check with Allstate. They take the best drivers and give the best rates. Brokers hate them because of this. The more products you buy, the more you save. Bundle home and auto.
  24. Mine is away for the year. Every mechanic that has ever gone near my lower unit has always cheaped out and gone with either Dino or semi synthetic. I always use synthetic. Canadian Tire being the best source. You don't want water in those lowers boys. The condition of the gear oil speaks volumes about the condition of your lower unit.
