I'll be there John. I think Rich is getting soft in his old age, haven't seen any of his great videos. I don't think he wants to show any of his secret spots But as Rich says, it does the heart good, good for you Rich

Was there ever a point where you switched species ?
Fish Farmer replied to muskymatt's topic in General Discussion
X2 and every day I can get out, plus hard and soft water. My biggest challenge is what rods am I going to take today So many fish and so little time???? -
Great Thought Old Ironmaker. This is where our club members from the Stelco and GHOC club take our excess and unwanted tackle and sports stuff. We just took out a bunch of stuff the other day in my truck didn't count the rods & reels, line and 12 Blowup beach canoes, the kids there helped us unload and were ecstatic.

Possible new to me Boat! Would like your thoughts and opinions
Fish Farmer replied to tb4me's topic in General Discussion
You have to think about the transon because it could be on it's way out with rot. Motor is not worth anything, it could be a part thing that you may not find. If you want a fixer upper for a couple hundred and something to do in your pass time. Wouldn't pay anymore than that. -
Pickerel stocking on Nipissing axed
Fish Farmer replied to woodenboater's topic in General Discussion
With all the crap happening with uped gas prices, taxes, toll roads, launch fee gouging, etc. No money left when I get to Nipissing, and to just catch and release with no fish fry, I'll stay home. Sorry Tourism, like said before, the big bang is coming. X2 Gerritt, you said it, very true. Time for the Sheep to come out of the closet. -
What rod would you buy for casting to steelhead?
Fish Farmer replied to Rod Caster's topic in General Discussion
Bill, I can't see anyone wanting to fish for Rainbows ( sorry, Steelhead) in a ditch with a 13' piece of Spaghetti with a cloth's line pulley while in spawning. I'd sooner fish with a ice fishing rod for Sheephead. Like you say, a good 7' rod and spinning reel chucking a spoon and a Rainbow, Bass, Muskie hit, now your talkin fun. Sorry guys, just pulling your chain each to their own. Now I got to cook up Perch and Eggs for breakfast, see ya. -
Your right. I talked to Clarence the other day and he said Alumacraft said they had to be a Alumacraft dealer only. Bay City sells Lund boats also, so good by Alumacraft. Princecraft junk also said they had to be sold with a Merc, and Bay City dropped them. I think Bay City may go to G3. I know Rizzo said Merc or Suzuki, but Bay City said when they sell a Yamaha, they never see a customer come back. I own 2 Honda's and can't complain. My next motor ? I don't know what to do now that Bay City won't be selling Alumacraft, I hate to think I may have to go with the over rated Lund. Alumacraft has the best spec's on the market, except if your going to life long boats like Stanley or Harborcraft Kingfisher, but it's going to be double price.

Can't see the pictures on my end Bruce, maybe it's my PC. Will see you at the Swap meet.

Don't know if this helps, I have a 2000 Fourtrac 350 and the pull start is hidden behind a plastic panel,

Some times the minnows you get are soft and down 60' if your minnow gets bit off, it's a long way back up. I use 20 Lb. Prower Pro and a 6' lead of Flor. You can detect bites better down that deep.
-
Can't beat the Minnow on Erie but you can use some plastics if their on the feed. But in the near future we could be banned for using live bait. Now that were fishin in 50' to 60' of water on Erie can be a pain using minnows. Ice fishing ultra lite 2 lb. line and jigs ice fishing with a maggot or Perch eye is great but dropping down a rig like that in 60' of water is not going to happen.

Buying a Lund Rebel 1650 Sport (vinyl floor)
Fish Farmer replied to snagmaster's topic in General Discussion
One thing the Rebel is the only Lund model that has a decent live-well in the front. Vinyl is great but make sure in the hot temps you don't have any thing sharp like a stone caught in your shoe or anything that's sharp that's going to touch the flooring because when it gets hot the vinyl get soft and can puncture easy. I also have those heavy rubber back carpets that are in store entrants on my vinyl floor makes it easier to pick up minnows. plus you can take them out and hose them down. It does get slippery if snow gets on the floor or Fish,Muskie slime. I still like the vinyl. -
Thanks guys. I'm thinking trading my chip for the gold chip, they say it has the great lakes and the Kawarthas trent system. It's a shame they don't have a chip that just covers all of Ont. Went to their site and their site caters to the U.S. Some video's of the Canadian chips would be nice.
-
What Chip do you guys prefer? Gold, Hot Maps, Fish "N" Chip I have the Fish "N" Chip and not very happy with it because it's not colored. It shows great depth detail, but with a small screen the depth numbers are off screen as you zoom in.

Way to go Joey & Paul looks like you had a great day. I've had 3 skunk days up there walking and drilling nada except dink Perch. May giver one more shot before the season closes.
-
April 20th. I was their last year and was a lot of good deals.
-
I walked out from the 6th line on Friday was lots of ice and a big crack near shore I climbed over. I walked and drilled looking for whities and maybe a trout for some fun but nada, just dink Perch. Got out as far as 80FOW nothing but small Perch. Thats 3 trips now without any fish, upside, I've lost a few pounds walking. I've heard a few people have caught an odd one. Seems guys that can get out to no-mans land are catching, I not walking out that far, the old heart can't take it.

I use the CTC ratchet straps but after a few years they were not working properly so I sprayed them with WD40 and now work great. I connect to all 4 corner racks and tighten them down to the trailer side racks but I found in the cold it made flat spots on my ATV tires, after driving for awhile it smoothed out Like Wayne says, the extra strap flaps around. I tie the rest of the strap around the racks to the trailer. I hate to cut them because I may use them for something else. If I had welded eyes on the bed, chains with a turn buckle could be away to go. Just an idea.

In our club we have measured lots of 30" Walleye and they average maybe 10 Lbs.
-
Thanks Roy, very interesting. What will they think of next. Bought a new machine last year and It's out of date already.

looking at getting a new outboard opinions please.
Fish Farmer replied to pike slayer's topic in General Discussion
As Tayzak15 mentioned about the position of the motor. You must remember that a 4 stroke must be stored only on the one side that is stated on the motor, because of oil in the crank case. You lay it on the wrong side and your in trouble. -
HMMMMMMM close to home ey. See if I can talk Spieler into some reel fishin. Did 2 dry runs so far Brian, 9th. line and BBP, Nutin.
