  1. I know a lot of them that should of been named "Skunked Lake"...
  2. Anytime........April, May then Sept and early Oct.....
  3. Lake Erie was on his list so I thought it was worth mentioning...
  4. For the best pounds of fish per effort......SEPTEMBER for Lake Erie PERCH.
  5. NICE....... I got to get a fishing pole like that........
  6. I have to agree.......stocking is NOT the answer......Lake Erie was not stocked......just outlawed the killer gill nets and the walleye population took off.... BTW you would be stocking fish for commercial boats to net them....doesn't make a bit of sense to me..... BUY OUT THE COMMERCIAL BOATS and then outlaw gill nets....this is how it was done in NYS....we had a 3 year Lake Erie Stamp to fish Lake Erie at the cost of $3 per stamp per year....but after 2 years they had enough to cover all costs and it was dropped and Lake Erie has been GREAT since.
  7. A crappie/perch rig with two #2 gold hooks and just enough weight to get it to the bottom.....MOST times I like a 5/8 oz sinker...... Now here's the trick.......a gentle drop lift about 18" and REPEAT very slowly......you will now get the feel of that sinker.....keep doing this....when the sinker seems to have gotten heavier set the hook HARD....almost all my large perch are caught this way....you never really feel a hit....just a very little bit more weight on the line...sometimes I describe it as if the sinker got stuck in the mud for just a second or two. Check out this thread.....all of these were caught using the technique described above... http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=62142&st=0 Bob
  8. We went through this on a MUCH larger lake.....Lake Erie....walleye populations crashed.......so GILL NETS were outlawed all along the USA side of Lake Erie.......since then the walleye populations rebounded and now it's the BEST walleye fishery in the world..... GILL NETS KILL FISH.....they should be outlawed world wide.
  9. Sorry but my tire DON'T sway and I get a LOT more miles out of them......buy what you want but I have the best combo.....
  10. X2 on using radial car tires.....HOWEVER, you must make sure they will handle the weight....ratings are printed right on the tires....so if you have 2 tires on your trailer divide the total of your boat, motor and trailer by 2 and that's what one tire will handle. For you Grim, divide by 4...... BTW I have been using car radials for OVER 15 years now....they last and last and last and last....well you get the idea....trailer tires for me were only good for about 3-4 years.
  11. Sorry.........but I think you forgot to add the website or pictures. And YES, we have to take EVERY threat to our water access SERIOUSLY. Bob
  12. The 6# or 8# mono would be my choice.
  13. Nice Report.........I fished "ABA" over 20 years ago with 7 other guys....I think we stayed in a different cabin...back then it was the only camp on the ABA...it was a huge log cabin that easily slept all 8 of us...it even had running water....yep, you took a bucket and ran down to the dock, filled it and ran back....LOL....we also took a Beaver plane in and out...it looks like you did too...... The only thing that would make it better is if it was much closer to drive to........back then it took us almost 24 hours of straight driving....but the guy that set it up had a 38' motor home for all of us to travel in...drinking beer and playing cards the whole way... Our numbers were a bit more then yours (1080 walleyes and 243 pike) but we had 8 guys so that evens out....HOWEVER, your walleye size blows us right out of the water.....biggest I remember was under 4 pounds....I did get a 12 pound pike but the kid we brought along beat me with a 14 pounder the next day... Now if they could only pick us up at Buffalo Airport and fly those Beaver Planes in, that would be GREAT....
  14. Now you sound like my bride........she wants me to catch TUNA, SHRIMP and ESPECIALLY LOBSTER.....LOL I think you and her are out of luck..........
  15. I have THROTTLED fish with live bait and tried GULP minnows....waste of money IMHO.......have yet to catch ANYTHING on these..... These were caught one after another on real minnows......so I tried GULP minnows....NOTHING ! ! ! http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=62142&st=0 SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR REAL BAIT....... Bob
  16. You BUY fish .... ....where....didn't even know it was for sale....LOL.....come on over to Lancaster, NY and I will sell you all kinds of fish.....walleye, perch, crappie and now some salmon....
  17. Jigging for walleyes and or crappies is my kind of fishing....been doing it for over 30 years....and I have to say I'm pretty good at it. What kind of rod is the question...... But what kind of jigging should be the question... I like using VERY light jigs for both walleyes and crappies.......so this is what determines the rod used..... For walleyes I use 1/8 to SOMETIMES 1/4 oz jigs.....mostly all black bucktail jigs that I make myself..... For crappies I use 1/64 SOMETIMES but mostly 1/32oz and SOMETIMES 1/16oz jigs.....many I tie myself....... With that said I like a LIGHT 6.5' rod and MOSTLY 4# test line....SOMETIMES 6# test line for walleyes....but again mostly 4# test line...... Here is the rod I like to use....(use to make my own but now it's cheaper to just buy one)..... The model # GS662 (6'-6") LIGHT rod for 2-8# TEST.... http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=738725&categoryId=0&parentCategoryId=0&subCategoryId=0&indexId=0&productVariantId=1292758&quantity=1&itemGUID=&WTz_l=Header%253BSearch-All+Products&destination=/user/wishlist.jsp There is NOTHING like twitching a 1/8oz black jig to simulate a bug on the bottom and feel just a twing on the line...then setting the hook and knowing you just connected into another nice walleye dinner... ...doing it this way is the best way to fight a fish....it's like it was tied onto to your line with no other weight whatsoever.... BTW.....this does catch a LOT of them damn smallmouth bass.... Bob
  18. Whatever route you decide on........remember to stay in the middle lane........
  19. Walleyes = DINNER Muskies = Sport fish and shouldn't be targeted during certain times on the year.....that's the way I look at it.....
  20. Yes........Sucker.
  21. NO WAY.......he caught it in the summer......
  22. You MUST be, as I can see you can't even afford clothes......
  23. GOOD IDEA........
  24. So the POOR guy fishing the shores of the Great Lakes is restricted to only 1 rod.....while the wealthy guy with his 35 foot fishing boat is allowed 2 rods while fishing most parts of the Great Lakes......Makes no sense to me......
  25. Not telling you when you should see bears.......I am pointing out your math doesn't work....I have a slide rule that can compute that... BTW we also have bears here
