  1. get it done right is all i can say, this is not the time to cheap out. As a funeral director I see it far too often that families are in disarray because there is no clear cut person appointed to make decisions (executor/estate administrator). This is especially true if you plan on being cremated. One child thinks cremation is the way to go, the other child disagrees...let the fun begin. Its not difficult to get someone buried, but cremation is a different story, you really need an authorized person (executor or clear-cut next of kin ie spouse to authorize it). And whatever you do, don't put your funeral wishes in your will, because its often not read until well after your funeral!! My suggestion is get a power of attorney (health and finance), get an updated will, then go tell your funeral wishes to your local funeral director...he's the only one who won't charge you anything...yet ;)
  2. don't turn your back on them there dolphins, rumour has it they can get a bit frisky!
  3. nice report...looks like you need longer arms though :D
  4. I've had good success with them. I'm one crazy s.ob. though, I cast em all day long, including the magnums. Last week -end I snapped the top foot of a rod off casting one though so you have to remember to lob them out there, don't muscle them too much or you'll end up short a rod! Never trolled one before, maybe have to give that a try. I like the fact you can work them at any depth.
  5. What I can tell you is this: When you get one, get it back in the water ASAP and keep fishing!. From my experience, when the fish turn on, they turn on! You may see nothing for hours, and then for 10-20 minutes you're getting hits, boils, agressive follows, landing fish etc. The sad part is, as quickly as they turn on, they turn off. What causes them to turn on like that? Even if I knew I wouldn't let that little gem out of the bag :D
  6. wow, those are some impressive bass!
  7. just what you need, lots of activity to keep the kids interested...even if that activity is playing with brightly coloured grubs!
  8. ya I would say his appeared to be around 15 lbs. The head on the thing was huge but other than that it was relatively thin for a fish that length
  9. ya, not uncommon in many lakes. A lot of the time perch have them so bad you can see them in around the gill areas...no need to fillet them, you can see them if you just look at the fish! Not very appetizing to say the least
  10. nice report and photos. Although I've never fished there (and likely never will), I understand there are actually some good sized pike in there. A friend e-mailed me last week with a photo of a mountsberg pike, thing had a head like a shovel and had to be 40 inches minimum. I was shocked to see it, a personal best for him.
  11. very nice! by the way, that snail probably makes for some fine smallie bait, just don't let your son see you "de-shell" it and place on hook!

    !

zoinks! thats one heck of a healthy looking fish!
  13. ...one can only hope (man this is gonna get me in trouble with our carpin' friends on this board)
  14. real nice bass boys
  15. do you think maybe they meant to say pounds??? If not, that's a ludicrous amount of carp!
  16. wow, you've got a real angler on your hands there! Very nice report
  17. I've fished L. Muskoka a few times, but more in the area of Gravenhurst bay. There is obvious structure in that area that produced for us, but when we got out into the main lake we felt it was a LOT of dead water (or at least water we didn't know how to fish).
  18. sounds like a great trip...but more details on the 2 musky you tied into are needed (worm harness or did they nab your pickerel on the way in?)
  19. I'm with ohiofisherman. Musky fishing is a heck of a lot more than chucking bucktails on a medium action spinning rod with 20 lb test. Although this may hook you a fish, and even a big one, said fish will probably not survive (if you're even able to land it), especially in the warm water months. Go to a fishing store with dad's credit card and get someone knowledgeable to outfit you with proper rod, reel, line, leaders, terminal tackle, big-arse net, big mouth spreader, long nose pliers, bolt cutters etc etc. May cost you (read dad) a few hundred bucks but worth it. To me, its a sickening feeling to catch a beauty fish and then doubt whether it will survive the release, especially if the fish could have been brought in/released sooner had proper equipment been used. When you're ready for the fish of a lifetime, then go for it because the big'uns are definitely in Nipissing. If you're not ready, you may end up with a big stinky dead musky in the bottom of your boat...but before he breaths his last, he'll thrash around (probably stick a few trebles in you first!) and trash everything in your boat.
  20. Nice looking bass. Check out the last picture..buddy in the background is either giving you the bird or he's mining for gold nuggets, already at a depth of a knuckle and a half
  21. thanks fishnfiend, maybe I stick with Head Lake unless I'm being faced with the big skunkeroo, then I'll jump ship and catch me a hammerhandle at Young
  22. sorry, I can give you some info on Head Lake near Norland but pretty sure you're talking a different lake
  23. thanks for the info, I'll post a report if I get out there. Might start at Head Lake in am, then shif over afterwards
  24. thanks bud, 85 views and only one reply I was beginning to wonder if it did exist. Anyone else who knows anythng about this lake or where to launch it would be appreciated
  25. I don't know simcoe (ignore the fact I live 5 minutes from it) but I understand smallies can be found at Thorah island. Can your boat get you there?
