  1. sweet and cuddly they are...rrrrriiiiiiigggggghhhhhhttttttt
  2. I'll take you up on that Brian. Only ice fishing I did on Simcoe was that Charity tournament, even got meself 47th place (out of 500 plus people). Would really like to learn more about ice fishing out there
  3. hahaha too funny Dan. We do that where I come from. Tell the neighbour kids its a "pinata" and voila, got yourself a tenderized steak
  4. After reading all these encounters people have had, I actually feel much more comfortable about a bear encounter. Sounds like a lot of the time they are curious or looking for an EASY meal...and if they aren't, just yell and hoof 'em in his furry nuts
  5. I fished there last year in January in open water! Here's hoping that happens again this year! We Barrie-ites are in favour of global warming
  6. its all my domain. Last I checked humans are number 1
  7. thanks for sharing this info. I've often thought of going (not to buy, just to watch what goes on). I'm far too ignorant on boat/motor mechanics to consider buying one there. May go one time just to see the rude auctioneer! Perhaps he'll let me burp into the mic...unless he's a different type of rude of course
  8. Snagglepuss! Those are some great fish, thanks for sharing the photos
  9. sweet mother of pearl thats a big fishy
  10. just make sure people are VERY clear as to what they are getting (ie photos of the exterior and interior)! Some people would think a place like this is just perfect (OFC'ers) whereas others would be mortified. People love to complain, make sure they are fully informed so that they have nothing to complain about (although we had one renter complain that there were too many mosquitoes in the evening...go figure, heart of the muskokas and somebody wasn't prepared for the evening mosquitoe onslaught)
  11. I've had a bear visit my site one night, and no sir, I didn't like it. Although I don't own a gun, I sure wish I had one at that point. Pretty sure you could hear my heart pounding across the lake the stinky beast was right outside the tent. Man I wish I was a sound sleeper, would've missed all the excitement. I think the best advice I've heard here involved hanging the food, but a LONG way from your camp
  12. geez, now I wish I didn't know. The wife has brought it up a couple of times as something for the future, I just pretend to be asleep when the subject comes up. Thanks for the update
  13. once again I have absolutely no clue what is going on
  14. nice looking fish and photos
  15. yup, a lot of money for a guy whose redeeming quality is a slapshot. On the positive side, I was actually impressed with Antropov's play. Still takes bad penalties (although the boarding call was a bad call IMO) but played surprisingly well...finally
  16. I would like to see any picture of a 52 inch pike. That is a rare fish! Not sure if I've ever heard of one that big.
  17. all a part of musky fishing. Even the best see days of being skunked...even 2 days in a row! That spinning reel in the last photo doesn't really cut it as far as targetting muskies though.
  18. Did you really think the game would end any other way then a McCabe screw-up? I know my money was on him. Lousy way for a great game to end.
  19. hopefully this will lead to some charges and a conviction!
  20. Sorry to hear about your luck. I was in there 2 weeks ago because a trolling motor I bought from them (5 years earlier) had broken. They were actually very friendly, hooked up batteries outside so we could test it etc. They then wrote down directions for me to get to "Rocky's" repair...unfortunately the helpful young man left one street name out of the directions and I ended up back on hwy 11 heading for Gravenhurst! Took me a while, but I eventually found Rocky's and it all worked out. Either way, I actually found them quite helpful, other than a little careless in recording the directions)
  21. Neat...I guess back them they had wicker baskets rather than white buckets for everyone to get p-o'ed about
  22. We have relatives on Balsam who tell us the frequency of pike being caught is very low, but is increasing. I just started fishing there this year but I'll tell you now any pike that finds its way into my boat from Balsam will not be going back into the lake.
  23. that's awesome! Congratulations on the new fishing partner
  24. Better not let my 3 year old see that, he's always asking to go fishing so he can catch a "big pike". Naturally his idea of big pike is the ever-so-plentiful snotrocket which we can catch every few minutes. If he gets hooked on musky (like his dad) we'll never see mom.
  25. Last year it snowed October 13 in Barrie, then basically nothing until the middle of January...the rest of that winter I don't want to talk about, I still have snowbanks in front of my house that survived the summer.
