  1. you read my mind Maureen. If I do go with a "combo unit" I have priced out a 15 hp Kubota that can handle a blower if you add a bit of weight and chains on the tires. Have to consider storage too. A snowblower would fit nicely in the garage, tractor/blower might have to be driven up from the shed in the backyard...either that or convince my wife to park outside so the Kubota can have a comfy bed in the garage!
  2. that's good advice! I actually did that last night (we met one of the neighbours). He had everything..lawn tractor with blower And a separate snowblower! I asked what others are doing and it seemed to be 50/50 split.
  3. So it snows a lot here in Barrie I've found out, and shovelling is not a favorite hobby. The wife and I have just purchased a place outside of the city where the lawn is big enough (just under an acre) that I need a riding mower. The driveway is also probably a bit too long to shovel (75 feet?). So do I get a blower attachment for the lawn tractor (which may be costly), OR get a separate snowblower and use the lawn tractor only in the summer? Please understand I have zero experience with either of these pieces of equipment, so keep 'er simple! Thanks for any input or advice.
  4. there's some good titles there, especially "t'was the night before fishing"
  5. wow, tarpon or sailfish. Pretty lousy choices, don't they have any saltwater carp or mudpout you can tangle with?
  6. difference is we were all better looking last year
  7. you're a sick sick man dougles
  8. definitely looks slippery out there! I once chased a windblown lawnchair halfway across the lake in similar conditions
  9. I believe hammerhandle pike is checking out the gills of respectable pike
  10. good luck! I helped a friend push one through before. Found it tough to push it through the skin on the other side so I took a knife and made an opening on the far side. I thought it worked great! He didn't seem to enjoy it though. We would have gone to hospital but that would have cut into fishing time. Couple of ice cubes, couple of shots of JD (for both of us) and it was all over.
  11. I got a Halle Hansen (or whatever its called) at Grimsby Bait and Tackle a couple of years ago for not much over 200.00
  12. save your energy for bigger battles. Not sure any breakage on 4 lb test could be considered "inappropriate". I figure stuff like that breaks if you look at it funny.
  13. Shetland pony...get yerself a mini saddle and you're in for the ride of your life
  14. really, doesn't Dunnville have a whole festival named after these creepy little buggers
  15. nice fish, but where's the mudskippers or mudpuppies or whatever the frick they call them down there
  16. People are talking about hammering some re-bar down etc - what are these covers usually made of? I know at our cottage the cover (which we leave exposed) is plastic. I'd think a piece of re-bar would go right through it..keep hammering till you hear a splash!
  17. yes, quite an animal...that's why I suffered through the pain of the "wuss" rock
  18. Very nice! You are in the same "boat" as me. #3 expected this May sure puts a damper on new boat plans but well worth it!
  19. whatever it is, I'm just glad that music ended...pretty sure my ears are bleeding
  20. congrats on the new vessel
  21. too funny. I actually had a worse experience than "pill-giving" with my cat. Had to give it the tomato juice bath after a skunk encounter. Crazy little jerk got loose while covered in red sauce. There was a huge red smear when I was finally able to tackle him!
  22. Glad I read this. We just bought a place with a septic and I was wondering the exact same thing about finding the lid. I'll see what the current owners can tell me about its location. Hope you are able to find yours!
  23. hahaha I have seen some people over there before...wasn't too pretty. does that mean they are quite deep? They actually look pretty shallow and flat. Would be a shame if a bass or two found their way in there
  24. Jamie where you been? You're welcome to borrow mine if you're coming through Barrie any time.
  25. I see some big ponds on either side of the road out highway 90 between Barrie and Angus. Anyone know if there is any fish in them?
