  1. Thanks for the advice all. The scraper bar was basically right on ground at first. I loosened the skids, and then lowered the machine onto a ceramic tile and re-tightened it. That is still very low clearance, but I'm paved driveway so we'll see if it works. Either way, it was a real quick adjustment for even someone like me, total of about 2 minutes. If its still too low, we'll stack 2 ceramic tiles and do it all over!
  2. Speaking of Big Cliff, I believe he provided the words "right tool for the job" (or something like that) when I was debating walk behind snowblower or snowblower attachment for the lawn tractor...so I went out and got the walk behind. Now to try and adjust the height so that I don't half to wrestle the thing to keep it moving! Would be nice to have some snow to try it out on as well...it just keeps raining here.
  3. So I took advice from some board members and bought a snowblower. Barrie apparently has been pretty much sold out of them for months but I finally found one after searching about 10 stores. Used it for the first time a few days back and found it didn't drive very smoothly. Engine ran smoothly, but I had to rock it or physically push it in some areas. I don't think the tires are the problem because they are quite significant. I believe it is because the scraper bar is too close to the ground and was hitting some packed snow/ice stuck on my driveway. If this is the case, is this as simple as adjusting the height of the "skids" it runs on or is there something else I need to be looking at? I'm hoping the height of the skids can be adjusted from the outside and I don't have to get right in there, as my tools basically include a wrench, $9 screwdriver with adjustable heads and my dad's old hammer.
  4. some incredible ice sculptures there! Looks like the Rideau could use a Zamboni though. Any rules about cracking out the auger and ice fishing the canal?
  5. ...my goodness, I believe cabin fever has truly set in.
  6. there's a woman in Barrie who came up to me when I first moved here 3 years ago, said she needed a few bucks for busfare to visit her dying mother in Sudbury. I gave her some money. Because she has a very distinct look, I recognized her when she aproached me again a few months back...started in with the same story...I stopped her and said not this time, I had given her money in the past...man oh man did she freak out at me for not helping! Maybe mom had 9 lives, because she's been "at death's door" for at least 3 years now!
  7. thats kind of sad and funny at the same time. Guy probably makes more with that dude story than half of us do at our jobs (after tax of course)
  8. To get meself back to Lakair in June (missed last year) and reclaim that horrible monstrosity known as the "Crayola Cup"
  9. oops, thought this thread was about Jamario Moon performing in last night's dunk contest. The first was a beaut, not sure what he was thinking on the second
  10. hahaha, I heard a similar joke involving a guy picking up a hitchhiker who notices a bottle of Rye on the front seat. The driver says, "I got it for my wife" hitchhiker replies, "oooh, good trade" even funnier involving McCabe though. They'd be lucky to get a box of "day olds"
  11. Kahshe has got lots of pike, although out of the 3 or 4 times I've been there they've all been in the 2-4 lb range.
  12. nice looking fish! Somebody once told me whitefish are "greasy". I always thought they meant the meat, but after watching you grab that first one I gotta wonder!
  13. dang weirdos...maybe we can get cliff and his band to play that polka
  14. that is a classic, but worth watching again. never realized how small Simmons was until that opening scene where he stands between the two guys
  15. Man that sucks...I hate incompetence. Hopefully something positive can come out of this for you. I'd imagine best case scenario would be refunding the fees you paid him ($300??), can't see them getting involved in re-wiring costs
  16. hmmmm, fishing for carp in -27 degrees...that question of stupid or extreme is pretty much a no brainer....meaning you'd have to have no brains to try such a feat
  17. what's more pesky, cormorants or hammerhandle pike?
  18. its hard to trade Toskala and come out on top because we just gave up a first round pick for the guy, and probably a pretty darn high one at that! Would someone else give you a first round pick for him? Maybe, but even if they did, it wouldn't be as high a pick as the one the Leafs gave up to get him.
  19. sounds like a great day on the water! as far as the H Montana thing, probably not too good. Most teen stars turn into walking disasters, hopefully she turns out better
  20. nice looking northern...its probably been chomping on some of those ciscoes
  21. tee hee...think I'm gonna use that one. Luckily most of my friends are ugly so I can use it lots
  22. all that snow sure can be a great insulator...bad news for ice formation
  23. tiller...question solved
  24. I can't help you with the name of someone...but that's awesome!
