These are really cool. They fold and slide into a 3" diameter tube through the transom so they are completely out of the way. Not cheap but really a neat desigh: http://garelick.com/Compact-Eez-In-II-Transom-Ladder

From Transport Canada: You can use a rope with knots tied in it to meet the regulation or a hanging rope strung between two cleats although they may not be that practical if you actually have to use them. The outboard works but does not meet the requirements. The cops were giving out tickets on L. Ontario last year for this so make sure you have some plan. The measurement location is not defined and remains the usual grey area....

The jets on those are quite prone to plugging because they are so small. Screw them all the way in, counting the turns as you go a note the positions. Take them all the way out, wipe them off and put them back in. The upper one is the low speed and should be open about 2 turns. The bottom one is the high speed and should be open about 3/4 of a turn. I used to have to do this every so often but I put an inline fuel filter in and it's been good ever since.

I fish on the Detroit River fairly often and there are at least 8 different branches of Law Enforcement who like to stop and check you out from time to time. I kind of went out overboard (pardon the pun) but I made a checklist/chart thingy showing all the the 'Required' gear for my boat along with all the 'Optional' gear I have on board. It has the location where each device is stowed and the date it was last inspected. Rather than go through the whole routine every time I just hand them the list and they can find the stuff themselves if they feel so inclined. Not once has any of them ever gone beyond looking at the list.....

So why did the MNR shut down the Stakeholder's Association from harvesting eggs and running their very successful restocking program??.....I just don't get it.

White goes on the top screw (L1), Black goes on the bottom screw (L2). Black connector goes on the tab on the L2 post, Violet goes on the post where black was (4). (3) is left open. Just did one of these yesterday at my neighbours..... -

The World News Daily makes the National Enquirer look legit....that story is on the same page as the FDA approved tranquilizer gun for children and the 40 pound baby born to the 600 pound woman.... It is not reported anywhere else so I'm pretty sure it's a hoax. They got me too.... -
If seatbelts prevented your head from contacting the steering column, why did they invent air bags in the first place????? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NACA1W2A5Wk&feature=player_embedded

Or you can seal your fate with a face full of steering wheel....the choice is easy in my mind given the odds involved.

The newest software update for the Gen 2 touch (version 4.0) makes it look and operate very much the same as the Gen 3 units with a lot of the new Gen 3 functions built in. It is a lot different than the version 3 but has a lot of nice new features as well... check it out before you decide one way or the other.

I'm not saying not to get them fixed but I wouldn't have them disabled in the meantime. I'm sure thousands of these same airbags have deployed as designed and maybe even saved lives. Why disable something that is likely 99.99% fine and way more likely to save you than not?
-
I think I'd rather have a potentially defective air bag rather than no airbag any day.....there have been no reported issues in Canada so I think the risk is pretty low.

BABCOCK JOINS THE LEAFS!! I can't believe it, I thought he was a lot smarter than that.....I guess he must have wanted a challenge and he's gonna have his hands full. GM's, assistant GM's, presidents, you name it will be meddling with him and he's still got to deal with the cancer in his 'leadership group'. Good luck Mike, the Wings are gonna miss you..

Do us all a favour and scan the letter and post it here for all to see, please help stop the insanity!!!!

Buying new AC (maybe Furnace) - Hamilton area help - Update
G.mech replied to Steve's topic in General Discussion
The new York stuff is really good and the price sounds fair too.....good shopping! -
Those work fine as long as they don't get drenched. For that kind of money I'd grab a spare one too just in case.

I think Buckhorn, Rice and most of the Trent systems are only on the Gold card and won't show up on that chip....that's what sucks about the older Navionics chips. The new Navionics + chip has all the lakes with 1' contours (Fish'n Chip mode) throughout the entire area you choose to download.

Buying new AC (maybe Furnace) - Hamilton area help - Update

x2...those prices are pretty bad especially for the Goodman stuff. I had mine replaced in a panic two years ago (I was out of town and had to get the local a/c guy to do it while I was gone to keep the wife happy). He put in a 2 ton Goodman condensing unit, new A-coil, new 50 foot lineset, all for $2500. I put a new 1.5 ton Payne condensing unit, coil, & lineset in my mom's house last year for her and the total parts were under $1200, labour was about 8 hours. The high efficiency furnaces list for about $2000 (installers get 50% off list). You can't buy the parts yourself at too many places and even if you can, most guys won't install or service it. I really hate these guys and they all seem to be cahoots. As mentioned, the Goodman stuff is okay but it really isn't up the York, Carrier, Payne standards by any stretch. I am very lucky to have a good friend in the business so we can get parts and he's got the license and tools needed. I think all you can do is keep shopping around and see if you can find an honest Residential HVAC contractor (aka Unicorn). Good luck and my heart bleeds for you....sometimes the 'dudes' are far more honest and reliable than the name brands, hopefully it works out. -
Buying new AC (maybe Furnace) - Hamilton area help - Update

x2, if you can afford it change them both, You will see a huge difference on your hydro and gas bills with the new equipment over that vintage. Your furnace was likely only 77% efficiency when it was brand new and will be down considerably from there even if well maintained. A new one will be 92% or higher which is a fair difference. The furnace change will mean more installation work however as the venting, gas, ductwork and condensate drains will likely need to be re-worked or replaced. With your A/C, you will see a difference from the old worn out 9 or 10 SEER stuff to even a new 13 SEER unit. You can get anywhere from 13 SEER to 17 SEER efficiency ratings on your condensing units but the higher rated ones cost a lot more and I'm not sure the cost is justified (the SEER rating system is somewhat misleading). I think you would be pleasantly surprised how much better the 13 SEER is than the old clunker on power usage and performance. As far as brands go, they're all pretty similar any more. I would stick with Carrier, York, Trane, or Payne as they are all fairly popular and most guys can service them. Goodman is popular now too and there's lots of other stuff on the market but from what I've seen they're quite as nice as the ones I mentioned. Choosing a contractor is the hard part unless you know someone or have a good referral. Most of the installers will give you similar prices but you'll really have to grill them and make sure you're clear on what each is providing. -
Same Lake Trout Caught Four Times , Four Years in a Row

That's a great story, very surprising. When I catch and release walleye I spray paint the tip of the tails white before letting them go. Let me know if anybody catches any of them again... . -

Reputable residential HVAC contractors are about as common as unicorns. -
i suppose you have a point there....

Forget releases on the inlines.. just reel them up to the boat and take them off. If you run braid, wrap it around the clip once and it wont slide down.

You can run offshore boards off a spinning rod or very light trolling rod no problem. Head to Leamington in June and you can see about 5000 of them out there every Saturday. The only thing that makes them pull hard is the lure behind them. We only run about 6 at a time but I have seen 10 & 12 board spreads lots of times trolling worm harnesses and deep diving cranks.
