  1. I would rather take care of my own money and invest it as I see fit. Kathleen and her predecessors don't really have a great track record when it comes to caring for my hard earned money. This is just another 'revenue tool' for them to squander on their next boondoggle.
  2. If they show up at the rink, work hard, and actually give a crap it's a huge step forward from what they get out of Phil and his cancerous attitude. Whether he goes somewhere else and excels or not, he is done in Toronto and a 1st rounder in return sounds like a bargain at this point whoever it its.
  3. Every house insurance policy I have had since the early 80's has clearly stated (if you choose to read the policy that is) that someone has to check the house every 4 days for signs of leakage or heating failure if the homeowner or tenant is away. It's kind of sad what happened to this lady given the circumstances but you really cannot expect any insurance company to cover whatever happens in your absence just because you paid your premium and left the house unattended. We all complain about the premiums so in order to keep them low the companies have to limit their liability to a certain degree. Try leaving your keys in your car and see if they cover it when it's stolen. You need to read and understand your policy or have your broker go over it with you.
  4. Just to be clear, you can use your foot pedal with a Co-Pilot on a Powerdrive V2 but you cannot connect the pedal with an I-Pilot on the same PD-V2. On the Terrova you can use both the I-Pilot and footpedal simultaneously. I am not aware of the switch that Landry mentioned but it may well exist. LIke others, I put a co-pilot on my PD-V2 and never used the foot pedal ever again. I'm on my second Terrova now and the foot pedals have never been plugged in. Once you have a handheld you'll never go back. Also, as far as the accuracy of the Minn-Kota spot lock goes, I have used it out in 3 foot swells perch fishing and it held me within a 10 foot radius according to the chartplotter. It was even better in flat water. If the Motorguide is more accurate than that it is really accurate... Tupelo, here is a link to a Minn Kota serial number guide so you can figure out the year of it: http://www.fish307.com/minn-kota-serial-number-guide.aspx
  5. I live just down the road and I know people fish there all year around (that doesn't necessarily mean it's legal but it's a fact). It is part of the Long Point Region Conservation Authority and nowhere in their info does it list any restrictions on fishing so I would assume that the Zone 16 regs are the only rules. They do have a maximum motor size of 9.9HP on the ponds however but that shouldn't be a big deal given the size of them.
  6. They moved them into the tire shop at the Ancaster store, maybe they did the same at yours....
  7. I think she is kind of cute and has a very soothing voice so I think I would have asked her out for a drink or supper maybe....
  8. That is just the female ones Terry. Try a male, they are much more trainable, highly cooperative and don't seem to get so emotional when you throw them out of the boat.
  9. I have a Micro-Start XP10 and have boosted pickups and cars with no problem at all during the last cold winter. I boosted a diesel generator at work one day that hadn't run in over 5 years and had a totally flat battery. This little pack cranked the engine for over 30 seconds no problem. It has 600 cranking amps of power and you can carry in your pocket almost. Amazing unit for the boat in summer and quad when out icefishing. I'm sure most of the others are similar...
  10. They truly are a water separator on the FI Mercs, they even have an electronic water lever sensor built in them that alarms if it senses water in the separator bowl. They also come with a primer bulb on the main line from the factory....
  11. Okay, now we're all straightened out once and for all!!! Sorry for my part in the misunderstanding The FI Mercs have a built in filter / water separator on board and I'm almost certain the Yammies do as well. I'm not sure about the 9.9 pro-kicker though, my 8HP just has an in-line filter inside. In any case, if the OP is worried about the kicker and has room to put the additional separator it's a good way to go but the 3 way valve to me is not a great way to go.... I'm going fishing now....Lookout Detroit!
  12. A primer bulb between the tee and each motor is all you need unless you want the additional separator/filter in which case Bill M's idea is fine too.
  13. You don't, that's my point. I never suggested that you do need two tanks. The drawing Drifter 016 provided that I was referring to is for a two tank setup and what the OP wants is a single tank to two engines (at least I think that is the case). His set up is great for his purpose but doesn't really apply if the OP has a single tank. The separator idea you suggest is fine if you need a separator but if you have them built on the engines anyway why add more complexity when a simple tee will do??
  14. That is a perfect setup if you have two tanks but I am thinking that the OP has a single tank and wants to connect his 150 and 9.9 to the same tank which is kind of opposite to what you were setting up...
  15. The only issue with a 3-way valve (on the main fuel line) is that you cannot run both motors at once if you ever needed to (for example I sometime run my main for a bit to charge the battery while trolling with the kicker or if you want to start and warm up you kicker while the main is running). The fuel separator setup is good but it may be overkill in your case as you already have a filter/separator built in the main motor (and I think in the Pro-kicker as well but I may be wrong). There is a simpler way that lots of guys use (myself included). Just tee off the main line and have a primer bulb in hose to each engine. The primers have check valves built inside them (that's how they work) which prevents one motor robbing the other and both can run at once.
  16. You have to be careful selecting cranking batteries for some of the modern high tech motors. Many of them require very high cranking current batteries to prevent damage to the ECM. I know the Optimax says minimum 1000 MCA (800CCA) battery which you won't get with a deep cycle or dual purpose AGM. Just something to keep in mind if you're running any of these.
  17. Sens-Flyers game blacked out on TSN again. Thanks NHL.
  18. With the wind and rain this week it will look like a Timmies double-double and will likely take a couple of days to clear up. Fishing will likely be really tough. The big girls have been biting all week all over the river. The eaters will be on soon enough but I would wait until mid week for clearer water.
  19. Lots of pivotal games last night and between TSN (5 channels) and Sportsnet (3 channels) all but one game was blacked out.....
  20. Please Mike, don\t start trying to justify the time or money spent catching fish especially on a public forum. If our wives get wind of talk like this we'll all be lined up at the fish market buying our weekend dinners. It is a fun trip and a truly unique fishing experience when your drifting downriver with a pack of 500 boats in the shadows of the Detroit or Windsor skyscrapers.
  21. I go fairly regularly. Things are just starting to get rolling and the water is still quite cold (36 degrees from my source). With all the rain and wind this week, it will stir up the mud and the river will likely be brown so I am waiting until next week. The fishing gets better once the water gets up to the low 40's. As long as the water is clear, the fishing on our side is as good or better than the US side but if it's muddy, the US side clears up faster. You can get your Michigan license on line quite easily if you need it and you can buy a 24 or 72 hour one so I just wait until the day and buy it then if necessary. Fishing will be good through mid-May typically and some of the common hot spots are North of Fighting Island (at Lasalle), just above and below the Ambassador Bridge and really all points in between the two along the Canadian side. You will always see boats in these areas, just join in at the top of the drift and watch for nets. I find heavier jigs are easier (3/4oz) with braided line and either a rubber worm or Finesse minnow (or similar). I always use a stinger hook as well. Boat control is critical as you need to jig perfectly vertically and be able to feel bottom on every bounce. There is a definite learning curve to this and lots of rookies end up disappointed but you just need to keep at it until you get the hang of it. You can launch at the Lasalle ramp behind the TD bank or at the free ramp in McKee park just below the Ambassador bridge. Good luck!
  22. I have no issue going to the Reserve at all and travel through it every day. That said, there is no way in the world I would hunt there. The rules (if there are any) are different and whether it's legal for me to hunt there or not, I can assure you that I am not welcomed by most of the native hunters. That said, this guy didn't deserve to be shot to death whatever the reason.
  23. Just in case you don't believe that there are two different laws, this guy got charged for shooting his own toe off: http://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/2015/04/07/ontario-hunter-fined-after-shooting-himself-in-the-toe
  24. Who'd have thought that the Bruins, Pens, Redwings, and LA would be on the bubble for playoff spots? This is a great week of hockey!
  25. This is why most non-native hunters choose not to hunt on Six Nations or most other reservations. Legal or not, it's just not a great idea. I live just down the road from where this happened and I wouldn't dream of hunting that land, I just don't belong there. As far as what happened that day, there are all kinds of theories but I'm pretty sure if it had been anyone else we at least would have read about the evidence in a court report in the paper.
