  1. In the article in today's paper it says that the shooter claims his bullet went through a deer before it killed the hunter. They never found a deer though....:you be the judge. http://www.thespec.com/news-story/5541439-fatal-bullet-hit-deer-before-killing-man-lawyer-says/
  2. My Ram 4x4 averaged around 11L/100km all winter. Towing my 7x14 enclosed trailer (which tows like a brick for some reason) I got just under 15L/100k. Straight highway on long trips it gets about 10. We'll see how it does with this boat the weekend but I would expect around 13 or so.
  3. This was the third partial eclipse in a series of 4 eclipses this year, the last will be in September. The series of 4 makes it the 'Tetrad". This particular one was really not visible here as the moon was below the horizon. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2015/04/03/397322864/get-ready-for-the-third-installment-in-the-lunar-eclipse-tetrad
  4. There is a Super 8 and a Comfort Inn right across the road from each other on Huron Church at the EC Row Expressway in South Windsor. The Super 8 is okay and about $80 and the Comfort inn is a bit nicer and around $100. Both have lots of parking space for boats and a few outlets around for your battery chargers. Don't stay downtown or parking becomes a problem and your boat will likely be gone in the morning. The Lasalle ramp was clear yesterday but there is still lots of ice flowing down the river. It doesn't look as bad today but I think I am waiting until next weekend. Here is a link to a river webcam on the Detroit side: http://detroithistorical.org/dossin-great-lakes-museum/detroit-river-watch-webcam There is also a free ramp right under the bridge that works okay too. It is at Mckee Part on Chewitt Street. It's not as nice as Lasalle but I launch there quite often if I'm fishing mid-river.
  5. I think they may be Payara (vampire fish) which are a relative of the pirahna. My son is studying marine biology at university, I've got him on the case and will see what he comes up with....
  6. The Leafs have had some very good (cup winning) coaches in the last 10 years, some proven GM's, and some quality players on their roster. They have been in a constant state of flux however and NOBODY was ever given the time or support to get anywhere. If they are lucky enough to land a quality coach after all the recent nonsense (like Babcock for example though I highly doubt it) the over stuffed management group will need need to take a 5 year dose of a powerful sedatives and let somebody do their job, unload the deadwood and manage the day to day crap with the players as it needs to be done. Honestly, if they had given Paul Maurice another year or two they may have actually made a playoff run.
  7. ...
  8. Phil Kessel last 5 seasons +/-: -20, -10, -3, -4, -35. Not too may elite players can compete with these numbers. Only two players in the top 20 in points in the league are minus players and only 4 in the top 30. Jamie Benn is -4, Tyler Seguin is -1, Joe Thornton is -1, Johansen is -11, Zetterberg is -3, Eberle is -17, Spezza is -4 and wait for it...........Kessel is -35. It is kinda hard to ignore the black and white isn't it? Of course Phil blames it on bad bounces and empty net goals on Friday....that's some pretty crappy luck.
  9. Hotmaps is not at all the same as Navionics + and doesn't have the same coverage or detail. I'm sure Jos would sell you one though if that's what you're after.
  10. It is the best card on the market as far as I'm concerned. Download the areas you want and save buying multiple cards. The detail is awesome with 1' increments in most areas. I ran mine all last summer and was very happy with it. You can download almost all of Ontario in full detail with the community edits within the allowable 2GB download limit.
  11. Wow, that is hard to believe....I still don't like the Sens but I guess I can cheer for the Canucks or the Habs given the circumstances. I would love to see Winnipeg and Calgary make the playoffs but they really aren't a contender just yet...
  12. From Hydro One:
  13. Just saw this in the morning news:
  14. QC must get the cheap, reliable power that our government keeps spouting off about; the stuff we sell below cost. We keep the expensive, unreliable, renewable stuff here in ON. Maybe the wind stopped blowing after dark last night....
  15. Same in Waterford....
  16. He definitely looked a lot better when they took the other nine skaters off the ice for him.....
  17. I just pull the little rubber flow restrictor out of the inlet to the shower head and bam, just like Kramer's! I put a new hand held one in for my mom last week and she didn't like it until I pulled the orifice out. Now it's gone she can hardly hang on to it. I LOL every time I see this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMITcQUe-9M
  18. They are solid. I wouldn't hesitate to order on line.
  19. x2. This is the easiest and best batter I've ever used. Mix Brodie's XX pastry flour and water (50/50) and your done. The guy at the local fish and chips store told me this secret recipe and I've never turned back. It's best to let the fillets sit for a couple of minutes after battering before you toss them in the fryer.
  20. So Dion Phaneuf was at the doctor on Tuesday and asks the doc "Will I be able to skate come Thursday night's game?" Doc replies "Yup, you'll be able to skate against the Flyers". Dion replies in amazement "That's great doc 'cause i really couldn't skate before!" Ba-da-ba.
  21. I guess the sarcasm was lost in my comment.....they are far better off with Horton. Nonis did refer to him a core player some time ago though, I sh!t you not.
  22. He was the 4th highest paid player on the team....somebody thought he was important. Not that it makes any sense.
  23. It really is a little surreal when your team trades what they consider a 'core player' for a guy who will likely never play hockey again and everyone involved feels like it was a good deal.......only in Leaf Nation.
  24. Yup, you're still missing the point but I think it's intentional. The point was (before all the twisting started) that a top draft pick put into a poor environment (such as Edmonton or Toronto) is not likely to change a franchise. Crosby absolutely changed the face of the Penguins but he was exceptional and also put into an environment where he could excel (i.e. some solid veteran leaders on the team along with some young talent). I don't think Toronto is a 'fertile' environment right now.......'nuff said.
