  1. overhanging tree into about 4 to 6 feet of water (Kawarthas especially) for large and smallmouth bass! pitching jigs or texas rigs... can't wait!
  2. it's too bad they don't stay that size! good on ya for stepping up like that though!
  3. i agree, there definitely are other factors... maybe a straight black Rogue next time? i'm not sure i want to waste another lure though... like you said too many factors, it's just interesting that such a similar lure (husky jerk and rogue), though they do have a slightly different action, one didn't produce a single bite, and the other 13 fish...
  4. i hear ya... come on June 7th... 12 days and counting!
  5. went out last night with high hopes on the husky jerk that i painted black. it was approaching dark so i tied on my usual lure (Black/Chrome/Orange - Rogue) caught 2 eyes with that fairly quickly. now knowing that the walleyes have started to move in, i switched over to the black husky jerk. gave it a half hour fishing prime walleye time and didn't get a hit. switched back over to the rogue and got an eye on my first cast. ended up catching 13 eyes and 5 largies. kept 2 eyes for the table (17" and 19") here's the biggest of the night, and my new personal best (24", 4Lb 10oz) - Live Release
  6. Tightline in Pickering has some stuff, not a lot, but they do have pre made boilies.
  7. there are "good" insects? they all bug the hell outta me, even if they're not biting or stinging me!
  8. i wouldn't expect there to be a whole lot of weed growth yet, it's still early and temperatures have not been very high. even on scugog it isn't too bad yet. i would think suspending jerkbaits along the weedlines would be good right now. good luck!
  9. i missed the original discussion on the "black lure experiment" but thought it was a great idea, after all, how often do you see manufacturers paint straight black lures? i painted a couple lures (all black) on my own this week and will be trying them this weekend. i'll post my results!
  10. looks like we've got a 3-way tie now with Stoty in the mix!
  11. heard that one before, but still good!
  12. awesome, my brother still needs his. thanks for the link!
  13. definitely not the smallest i've caught, but the smallest i have a picture of...
  14. i might be coming up there on saturday as well, probably in the morning.
  15. was in Bobcaygeon last weekend, did fairly well, a lot of dink walleye (1 and 2 year old fish) caught though. lots of bass caught and a couple muskies.
  16. Either Ted Rogers or Larry Tanenbaum could easily afford to buy the team individually, but together no one will be able to out-bid them. So, if Ralph Wilson does hold an open auction for the team (team goes to the highest bidder), like he said, looks like the Bills will be in Toronto in the near future.
  17. This was a write up in the Toronto Sun today... written by John Kerr. (i couldn't find the article on the web, so i'm typing it out) Switzerland's Federal Parliament will follow Germany by baning catch and release angling in 2009, the European Fishing Tackle Trade Association says. While the Swiss legislation doesn't specifically mention catch and release fishing, it does make angling with "intent" to release a fish illegal, EFTTA points out in a press release. Next year, anglers will have to kill immediately every caught fish by bashing it over the head with a blunt instrument. Swiss anglers will have to take a course on humane methods of catching fish (barbed hooks and live bait will also be banned) before being granted a fishing licence. Rightfully so, EFTTA acting president Pierangelo Zanetta points out the new law will reduce fish populations and discourage anglers from fishing. "EFTTA does not believe that forcing anglers to kill their catches is either good for nature or for recreational sport fishing, which makes a significant financial contribution to the EU economy (275,000 anglers collectively spend about 30 million Euros in annual tackle sales in Switzerland)," Zanetta said. The pending Swiss fishing rules are part of a wider animal-protection law passed in 2005, with angling details just surfacing. *** The rest of the article talks about our laws, and more specifically about Bill S-203... if you want to read the rest, go get the paper... 18. he would still be allowed to fish, he would just have to release everything he caught after he had reached his limit.
  19. here's the link for the fishing regulations online. http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/LetsF...L02_163615.html
  20. Perfect description! i don't know where people get the "it's the same as the parent/guardian" from!?!? kids have their own limits and follow the sport fishing licence regulations.
  21. i just received my order last week as well. picked up 500 yards of 65 Lb Power Pro for my new musky reel and got the free spool of Calcutta mono as well. cost $41, that would have been over $60 in stores here. i'm sure they'll be getting more business from me in the future.
  22. it's too bad you didn't pick up the C3 when CT had them on sale... i got mine for $75... other than that, looks good, i wish i had the money to put into that much gear for this year.
  23. you must have disturbed it's nest... i can't see any other reason for it attacking you like that. i got dive-bombed by a robin when i was young, i was climbing an apple tree in my grandparent's apple orchard where this bird had it's nest... it was a similar scene to your incident... those things are fearless when it comes to protecting their young.
  24. 7' mh is fine, is it a baitcasting combo or spinning. i highly recommend a baitcasting combo for muskie fishing, this will help when throwing the bigger baits. a good start for lures would be oversized spinnerbaits and large inline bucktail spinners - black with the double treble hook is one of my favs. pick up a few different colours, black is usually good, red and yellow work too. that'll get you started. good luck.
