  1. My bud has the voyager. Its a great hut. LOTS of room, and it hauls a pile of gear. I've seen the X2 as well, if it was my decision, I'd take the voyager. Bigger hut, and it works just as well as the X2. Make sure to put the runners on it. Saves a TON of wear and tear on the sled, and it tracks much better. Sinker
  2. I'll ask the wife to get me some while I'm out fishing tomorrow
  3. I'll be out for my last kick at them as well. Not sure where I'm headed, its gonna be a game time decision. Anyone driving out now that the snow has settled a bit, or is it too wet now? my buddies drove out past the crack on tuesday with no issues......it was just powder then though, might be tougher going now??? Sinker
  4. The danforth's, with 5 ft of heacy chain, are great for holding, that's for sure. They take up more room in the boat though........that's the only downfall. If I'm heading out to fish deep water, and there is any wind, I take the danforth. Under normal conditions, in water less than 40ft, I like the navy anchor. It fits in the storage compartment much nicer. Sinker
  5. From the clips it looks like he dominated the whole fight. Is there anywhere to see the whole fight? He'll only get better! Hes got a heavy left, that's for sure......ouch! Sinker
  6. I have one like your looking for. I got it at CT. 15lber BTW.......it broke the first time I used it.......I've fixed it, but I always carry a back up because I don't trust it. Sinker
  7. Sweet!! What a fatty!! How's your fingers? Well worth it I"m sure......I'd do the same!! Thanks for another cool vid man, awesome stuff! Sinker
  8. Glad to hear your AOK Cliff!! I'm sure there have been lots of accidents like yours in Lindsay this winter.......the roads are a total mess!!!! I know the intersection by the college is a real doosie as well......I've seen more than a few there since the start of the new year! Some people just can't take thier time.........they end up paying for it though. Good luck with the insurance claim, hope it goes smooth for you. Sinker
  9. Yup, as soon as it hits bottom, jig it again. Don't stop.....jig it till your arm gets tired. Don't change anything when you mark them, whatever you were doing brought them around......just keep on jiggin it like always. When I mark fish, I jig even harder.......your after the aggressive ones. I jig my williams fast and aggressive. lift it a foot or so, hit bottom, and jig it again right away. If they want it, they'll get it. I find when you change it up when there is a fish checking it out, it gets a better look and screws off! I change it up when there are no fish down there......and if it brings them in, I keep doing that. Just jig like a madman. A big williams half and half hammered with the side hooks. Don't stop......you'll get one!! I have a buddy who is a jigging machine.......you wouldn't believe how fast this guy jigs.......but he gets them every time!! He really picks it up when he's marking fish.......just be confident and keep at it. Hooking them is only half the battle.......you still have to get them to, and out of the hole. I find that's the bigger challenge!! Take your time.......they'll come up......just keep enough pressure on to keep the hooks in and that's all. Don't horse them!!! Sinker
  10. I just bought a 12v 7Ah battery from Osso electric for $27. I charge it with my deepcycle battery charger set at 2A. Works great for my fishfinder......I can fish all weekend, day light till dark both days, and its still good to go. Most electrical supply stores carry them for cheaper than what you've listed. Just ask for emergency back up light batteries......make sure its 12v, they also have 6v batteries. Any 12v charger will charge it up, but its best on a slow charge (2A) Sinker
  11. The only other operators in that area are Hanks huts, and Bonnie Boats. Both out of Sutton. BTW, you don't have to cross any cracks to catch fish out there. Just go out towards snake/fox islands, and stay on the south side of the crack. There are fish there.......just move around till you find them. I'd rather be mobile, than stuck in a hut. Sometimes a move of 100 yds makes all the difference. Sinker
  12. I also notice on jigging spoons.....like a buckshot for example.....the eye on the spoon is at the top of the spoon.......I always take off the hooks so the eyes are where the hook is. Ever seen a fish grab its lunch by the tail? Sinker
  13. Thats some crazy ice!! How thick was it? Beauty perch man!! Awesome stuff!! Sinker
  14. Someone found them...... http://www.lakesimcoemessageboard.com/inde...;id_dbase=81659 Some honest people around this season.....I've seen this happen a few times now!! Sinker
  15. Right on Cliff.....pretty dam good man!!! Keep them coming.....they're all good!!! Sinker
  16. I started reading this thinking I wouldn't make it to the end.......well, I made it.....all the way to the bitter end!! Some great writing there......and nice fish to go with it!! Good job! Thanks for the report, Sinker
  17. I've had braid slip too.......I always put a few wraps of mono on just so that never happens again. The tape trick would prolly work just as well. Sinker
  18. Wow....its been 20 years already......frig....I"m getting old. I still have one......11 footer. Was a great rod at the time...... Sinker
  19. Im sticking to simcoe until it closes........then I tour all over the place. Some of the best icefishing is in the last couple weeks of march, first couple weeks of april.......its worth the drive then! Sinker
  20. I'm not going to tell you its safe to drive out.....because it never really is. Out from willow you can get to the snake island shoal without crossing the nasty crack. I won't drive over it, but lots of guys are. There is lots of water to fish without going over it....... Good ice (15") and not much snow...so travelling is great right now. Sinker
  21. I like the lugs.....the bigger the better. Felt is great when your in the water....but on the banks in mud.....like walking on banana peels!! That, and they freeze when its cold. Sinker
  22. A 40 4 stroke will troll right down for you.....no prob. If its too fast, add a trolling plate or drag a driftsock/bucket until you get the speed your after. I don't think you'll need it though......the 4 strokes will purr at low idle. Sinker
  23. Nice haul........looks cold for there? A sweater AND a jacket........? You sure get some nice slabs down there!! Thanks for the report, Sinker
  24. Get out there and jig a #60 half and half hammered williams. Just keep jigging it......no fish in a half hour or so......move on. Keep doing that all day, and you should get a whitie. Some days you stumble onto the mother load.....some days you get one hit....then lose it....... I always go out of JP. Sinker
  25. Hopefully mid april......even late april would be fine
