Anyone know a good marine mechanic in Oshawa area?
Sinker replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Yup, he's a good guy, and a great mechanic!! Gotta love the family run business! Cliff, I don't understand why you can't rev your engine, unless its in gear? Whats up with that? You don't have shift in the handle on that engine do ya? Cliff, its really worth the drive to Lindsay. I've lived around here for a long time, and used most marine mechanics in durham region at one time or another. Oshawa is much closer for me, but I still take my engine to lindsay.....I learned the hard way........I have another one about 3 mins down the road, but I wouldn't give them your engine, let alone mine. You don't want to end up like GCD at this time of year do ya? Next weekend is crappie opener......get er done! Sinker -
I get my 12v, 7Ah batteries at Osso electric. They have locations all over the place. Around $30, and your all set. Small and effective. I can run for several days on one battery. Sinker

I get all my work done at Robinson Marine.......in Lindsay. Usually good turn over, and he gets things done right. Sinker -
Way to get out there Cliff!!! Looks like you's had lots of fun. It was a beautiful day to be out anyways.....fish are just a bonus!! I launched for the first time of the season today too.......not a hitch......everthing worked perfectly, motor fired right up, and we got into some fish. Simcoe was mint where we were.......my son had a blast!! Sinker

I spent the day today placing bags in campbellford. 3 of us moved bags, and the 4th guy drove the truck full of bags around to distrubute them. We were working around friendly acres. We got 4 cottages secured today......its a great feeling to know I've helped out the little bit that I did. They had loads of school kids doing the bagging at the gravel pit.....must have been 4-500 of them. They would fill the trucks as fast as we could pull up. I might head back on sunday, as long as I can get someone to take my kids for the day......the wife is out of town this weekend. They need all the help they can get out there. The water is only going to rise now for the next week. Rain in the forcast isn't going to help the situation I feel for you b&b......its a good thing your doing. I'm sure if you need the help at your place, the people will come. Just let us know if you need it.......I'll come out for sure. Sinker

Stoney is dropping now. It will still be higher than normal, but its crested and now receding. All the docks I saw today were underwater, or floating downstream. Rice lake is getting full now......all the marina's there without floating docks are underwater too...... I spent the day sandbagging cottages around campbellford/hastings today. The Trent river is pumping 750 cubic meters per second at the dam.......in other words.......a $h!tload of water!! Its expected to rise another foot in the next week. If anyone has some time, and a strong back, they need manpower to move all these sandbags, and trucks to get them on location. I'm beat, dirty, sunburnt and hungry.......but It sure makes you feel good to know you've helped out some people who REALLY needed it. Just today, we managed to save 4 properties.......and we only had about 20 guys to move the bags into place.......we worked our arses off though. So much for yard work tonight.......I'm gonna put the graph on the boat, and go fishing with my son tomorrow. Sinker

Ahhhh......I wont bother. I'm done.... Sinker

I was just goin by what you said here.......nothing about habitat in there...... Funny how this went from keeping the small ones, to a full on brook trout thread. Sorry for getting involved......I just thought someone had to mention habitat loss in here. Sinker

First of all, I don't need to take 8-12 rods on a fishing trip.......that would be a PITA wouldn't it? I usually take 4.....all one piecers.......and they go from the passenger floor, between the seats up to the drivers side back seat.....in the car. In the van I have all kinds of room...... Sinker

The #1 first thing that has to be done to save brookies in southern ON, is habitat restoration. Do you really believe that the harvest of brookies is the main issue down here? Think again...... You can release all the prime breeders you want, but if they can't successfully spawn, you may as well have a nice fish fry with them!! I'm sure its a different story for nipigon, but I don't know much about that area at all....... Sinker

Why would you want to fish for dirty ole bass anyways?

Just have a few little things to do on saturday......mount the electric, and install the graph......fill up with gas and we're good to go. I'm going to attempt to launch my boat in simcoe on sunday. I've been telling the kids all winter, that on april 20th, we'll be launching the boat for perch.......they're just as pumped as I am now........hope there's enough open water to find some fish!! I might even get to rake my yard sometime saturday............have a bonfire with the kids saturday night, roast some marshmallows and make some smores. Should be great......the wife is gone all weekend......yeehaw!! Sinker

I run mine right from the plug. A separate wire to one light......then a wire from there to the other light. This is a single wire I attach to the trailer with nylon wire clips. Saves me a lot of headaches......and its so easy to do. Use a decent sized wire too......can't be too big! Just make sure your ground in the plug, and on the truck is in good shape!! If that doesn't work, ground that wire to the truck frame and try again.........then you know the ground from your plug in is bad. Sinker

Man, I feel for all impacted by this high water. Your area is the next to be effected the most. My source told me the river is going to rise another 30cm within a week.......and won't crest for 2 weeks. The moira has crested, and is now holding, or dropping slowly.....thank god we're not getting any rain!! I took a drive around rice lake this afternoon.......its unreal the amount of water!! Most docks are under water......one island with a causeway that's flooded over.......lots of gas pumps surrounded by water.......its a real mess......and its not over yet. Rice is rising 7cm per day......and forcasted to continue for 7-10 days. The Tri-Lakes are at near record levles, and still rising....... Crazy amounts of water this year.......and still snow in the headwaters to melt.........but we really do need it! Hope all works out for you's b&b.......if you need any more help, let us know here. I could make a trip out that way over the weekend. No truck, but I'm not scared of hard work! Sinker

I was reading a sign on the shore of rice lake today that said "if its bigger than your palm, let it go."........"if they're small, keep them all" ....... Makes perfect sense to me...........the little ones eat better anyways. Sinker

I'm willing to bet the fix for this is a bad ground. I almost guarantee it. I run a separate ground wire to all my lights on the trailers. Saves a lot of headaches. Run a ground wire to that light, and I bet it works perfectly. Sinker

Ahhh.....I love my galvanized trailer
