  1. I measured 19" off JP today......conditions are great. All that snow/slush has formed into nice ice. Perfect conditions for a quad.....a little bumpy/hard for sleds, just enough snow for the sliders. Have fun guys!! Sinker
  2. Check this one out........watch it to the end.............hot heads? Or.......? http://www.officer.com/videonetwork/index.jsp?showid=378811
  3. BEAUTY!!! Looks like fun boys!! Sinker
  4. Check this vid out. I still think there are bones in his fillet, but it shows how to do it well. There is another row of what I call "pinbones" in there. I either cut them out after I take the skin off, or pull them out with needle nose pliers if I leave the skin on for smoking. Turn the volume down a notch......the music is horrid!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfiYbUSPnHg Sinker
  5. I like winter. I hope we have ice until late april. Before we know it, it will be 40 degrees and humid..... Sinker
  6. I'm docked at the moorings marina as well......fish twice a week at least, and always catch fish (well usually). If you guys need tips/info/spots......or even care to join me, your always welcome!! I know the lake well.....have been fishing it for years. Sinker
  7. I voted wrong.....sorry messed up. I'm all for practical. The simpler the better. No fancy gizmo's for this guy. I'm also a cheap so and so....... Sinker
  8. As long as you have the 2 shots of vodka, your doing fine Sinker
  9. Another vote for Sturgeon. Thats my favourite time of year on that lake!! Good eyes, and musky are plentiful! I'm docked just down from Cliff, and fish the lake twice a week all summer long..... Sinker
  10. Haven't tried the surface clarity or noise rejection....I'll try that......but I always have the depth range set manually. Doesn't make sense to me......why would it work in one hole where its 63 ft, but not in another where its 75......not 20 yds away. It was really frustrating to say the least. I spent more time dang around with the graph than I did fishing. Sinker
  11. Ok, so my graph has been causing me grief so far this winter. I use the same one on the boat with no probs whatsoever......deep or shallow makes no difference......in fact on the boat I can mark bottom at WOT(30MPH) up to about 40 ft, then I lose bottom, and have to slow down a little to keep contact... If i'm fishing less than say 60 ft thru the ice it seems to be working fine, but after that I can't mark a depth......it shows me bottom on the graph, but no depth......any ideas??? The transducer is brand new, never used until I set it up for icefishing.....exact same as the one on the boat. I have it set level in the hole...below the ice.....I can't figure why its not picking up bottom..... I've played with the sensitivity, greyscale and ping speed.....etc....to no avail when its over 60ft..... This is a Lowrance X-96. Thoughts?? Sinker
  12. Mine does that with a bad battery...... Sinker
  13. Nice vid.....you need to work on your death grip though...LOL....thought you were gonna lose the first one in the hole! Good job..... Sinker
  14. I bet there are lots of atheletes who couldn't hande a full day on the water! Sinker
  15. hope he charged them with making a false statement as well...... Looks good on them!! Sinker
  16. That's a great way to do up a report!!! Congrats on the whitie......and that kid was having a blast!!! Right on!! Sinker
  17. Definitly the old man......but its in the blood. I was born a fisherman. I'm the 4th generation, of a family of fisherman from the Northern Peninsula of NFLD. My grandfather is 83 years old and still fishes/hunts/boats as much as he ever did. My father is my best fishing buddy in the world. He took me everywhere.....even carried me on his back for miles when I was just a little gaffer............he just retired to NFLD, so I"m out my best fishin buddy ....... Its in the blood. Sinker
  18. My dad has a 24ft Fairline, and the wheel is on the left. Don't see it like that too often though.......it takes a while to get used to it. Going thru locks and stuff its better to have the wheel on the right.....then you can see the docks clearly. On the left your looking over the baot all the time...... a bit of a PITA. Sinker
  19. There will be more this season......its a bad year for ice travel. I was up in that area on the weekend, and was amazed at all the open water. I knew it would only be a matter of time before we heard the reports of snowmobilers in the water........I wouldn't travel any lakes up there on machine!! Sinker
  20. Nice job! Where did you get the material for the runners? I could use some of that! Sinker
  21. Yup, prolly the voltage regulator.....just changed one in a buddies machine. Another trick I was told about is to wire in another light under the hood of the machine.....apparently it will drain just enough power to stop the headlight from blowing? Not sure how true this one is though.....never tried it, but the old fella who told me seemed to know what he was talking about...? Voltage regulator is an easy fix, check the ground on it first though, usually its the ground. Sinker
  22. They never seem to come in range when I'm duck hunting......lucky for them!!
  23. I was out tonight.....Ice is fine.......the hike thru the marina channel was pretty slushy..... Might be frozen enough to walk on by tomorrow. Not so bad out on the lake for walking. Fish are there, iced 2 eyes, snapped one off in the hole, and lost another. 2 bass, 1 LM, 1 SM, and one bluegill......first gill I've caught out there. I was set up for crappies and didnt' get any...... ........I usually set up for eyes.......and get crappies.... .....go figure Sinker
  24. Jackplate......google it. Sinker
  25. Well, if it is a short transom, you want a short shaft motor. You can run a long shaft on a short transom, but you won't get the same performance, and you wont be able to go as shallow.....obviously.....won't hurt the engine though. Sinker
