I'm sure Bernie will provide you all the info you need on this one. His family has been in the business for a long time as far as I understand. If he misses this, send him a pm. S.

Its obvious you don't know how to use a spinning reel..... A center pin will aid in presentation......yes. In fighting a fish....not so much. Haven't you ever used your finger on the spool of a spinning reel?? It comes as second nature to guys who use them. Not to mention a way faster line retrieve, for when they turn and run right at you. A spinning reel is also a lot warmer than holding a solid piece of aluminum in your hand when its freezin cold out. I know for sure you can't cast as far with your pin as I can with a spinning reel too. You say you don't have the "elitest" attitude, but I'd beg to differ, after reading your replies. Your so caught up in it, you don't even realize it.

I could say the same thing about EVERY one of your replies......

Who am I defending?? I'm not arguing. I'm just stating facts. Facts you would know if you had a clue I changed my mind, I bet you've only been pinning for two years now. S.

Nope, I've never used one I'm pretty sure I sold a couple on this board, because I had no need for them anymore. I've put in my time with pins, don't you worry. When I was using them, guys didn't know what the hell I was using.......you know.......guys like YOU! S.

I bet he's one of these steelheaders that's been doing it for 4 years and knows it all. I don't get that impression from all guys who use center pin reels, but it sure seems the majority of guys who have them these days have that attitude. I don't judge anyone, I let them put thier foot in thier own mouth. I hope the remark about kissing solo's ass wasn't directed at me, cause that's certainly not the case here. I just agreed with him because he was right. S.

Nice work Pete!! If your off every wed, we should hook up. I'm off wed/thurs, and usually looking for someone to play hooky from work to join me! I'd love to get into some of those cats too!!! S.

Man, guys as ignorant as this get under my skin. Think about it! If 90% of the anglers are using pins ( as some sort of a status symbol or something ) then, 90% of the fish will be caught on center pin reels. Imagine if 90% of anglers used spinning reels.......Oh wait......that would mean those SAME fish would be caught on spinning reels. The reel don't matter dude, get over yourself!! S.

Man, if you want crappies, you gotta come out to the Kawartha's. All these lakes here are infested with them. I guarantee your son would have a blast, and you's would both come home with a good feed of fish!! Pick a lake and have atter!! S.

I'm with solo. I know for a fact I would catch as many fish with a spinning reel as with a pin. Its not the reel that catches the fish. A guy who knows what he's doing can also present his bait as well as a center pin can, with a spinning reel. Frig, I could present my bait as good with a casting reel. I don't know where the whole center pin mentality came from, but I see it too. If you don't have one, you don't know squat.......gimme a break I was center pin fishing long before a lot of guys even knew what they were. Back when there were decent numbers of fish in the tribs, and the crowds were bearable. You know, the days when a lot of guys bottom bounced, and used spinning reels. We always caught a lot of fish. If I was to go steelheading right now, I'd use a spinning reel. I KNOW what I can do with BOTH. S.

This is correct. The water flows from scugog to sturgeon. The downstream side of the lock is the sanctuary......towards sturgeon lake. The upstream side is open for fishing. The OPS boundary is kinda tricky, be careful with that one. I've called the MNR, and even they couldn't tell me exactly where it was on the water. Fish-meister is correct in saying its the line from Ken ried rd, to pickeral point rd.....but theres quite the span of water between there. They should post signs in there so people know where they're at. A lot of the locals use the pillars as the boundary, but I"m sure thats still technically inside the sanctuary. The boats are stacked in there on walleye opener. S.

Are bluegill/pumpkinseed/sunfish (not bass) tasty?
Sinker replied to Mykester's topic in General Discussion
Hell yeah they're good eating!! If I could consistently catch them over 9", I'd spend A LOT of time chasing them!! IMO, they're better than crappies, but not as good as perch. S. -
I'd say its a musky. Judging by where it was taken, I sure as hell hope it is a musky, and not a pike. I've spent a lot of years on sturgeon, and never seen or heard of one out of there YET. You never know I guess.... S.

I mounted mine on a board too. I take it off when I'm not using them. My boat is a tiller, so my riggers are just ahead of me, mounted on the board permanent, with the board clamped onto the gunnels. I could have mounted them on the back corners, but with a guy on the tiller, and another guy setting up/grabbing a fish on, I didn't like the idea of all the weight in the stern of the boat. Especially if its at all rough. Works good for me. S.

I've never broken power pro unless I cut it myself. I use it for just about everything nowadays too. From 15/4 up to 100lb test. Sounds like you got a bad batch, or your guides are messed up. S.

Glad to hear she's Ok Lew. The car can be fixed. S.

Cool video Bernie! I bet that duck boat has broken ice a few times in its day huh? That sucks about the docks Wayne. S.

I'm still getting the same thing as Dave. If there is a picture, the first reply cuts it off every time. Any suggestions? I also liked that number under our names, I can't remember what mine was though S.

Nice job on the video Dave. Looks like a great trip! You guys got into some nice fish too!! That camp is great......did you use it as a base camp, and move around fishing? I would love to do a trip like that sometime......especially up in that neck of the woods!! S.

Great report Joey. At least you got the bugs worked out on the boat, so now your ready for the rest of the season. Thats a great rainbow you got there, and Pauls brownie looks tasty thanks! S.

Good luck getting a CO to show up anywhere Cliff. I called the tips line on friday too.......no results. There was a small tinny with 3 guys in it, one of them was fishing two lines, and I'm positive they had over thier limit of crappies. I told the one guy it was illegal to fish with two lines, and the new limit on crappies was 30 fish......he just looked at me like I was from outer space. If I didn't have the kids with me, I would have got myself in trouble for sure. I can't stand ignorance like that. I hope to see them again, because I'll make a point of getting nice and close S.
