  1. I'm a fan of this new slot too. I've released a lot of over slot eyes this season already, that probably would have been kept if the slot wasn't in place. I've also released a ton of unders lot fish, that will be perfect keepers next season. I think the next few years are going to be good walleye fishing around here S.
  2. Do you have one yourself? I'm getting mixed reports on them, from a lot of different sources. Some say they blow up, some say they last forever......I should just stick with what I know. S.
  3. My go to musky rod is lighter than that if you can believe it. S.
  4. I don't see them too often. Never ran a 'rude before......I'm a little curious. S.
  5. Anyone have one, or know anything about these engines?? Any good?? Specifically an early 2000 model, 90HP. S.
  6. I'm getting mine right now in summer locations. I have been since opening day
  7. Kash musky are temperature related. Find their temps in open water, and you'll find the big musky. They feed on herring, and whitfish in there, so don't be afraid to troll open water. If you apply some bigwater trolling tactics, to your general musky tactics, you should do well. A lot of guys spend too much time fishing structure in there, and the whole lake is structure.......so its like finding a needle in a haystack. Sure, you'll get a few off structure, but the big guys will be chasing bait in open water S.
  8. Its going just fine for me and my guests I don't know what you guys are doing wrong S.
  9. Fancy rods don't catch more fish. Just sayin....... S.
  10. I burn the manufacturers reccomended oil in my mariner. Its smokes at first start up, but its not bad once she's running. I use the Merc oil. S.
  11. I'd dig the hole by hand, and just keep the post away from the house. You can even notch the post around that gasline. Don't use a spike on a gate. It won't hold up, I guarantee it. I still don't know why your using 6x6 for a privacy fence. That's way over kill, and brings the cost of your fence way, way up. Are all your neighbours using 6x6's on thier fences too?? I could see if you had a major road beside your house, but that doesn't look like the case here at all. Why 6x6??? Save that $ for more fishing gear or beer S.
  12. Johnny, get some braid. It makes a world of difference. I can't even use mono anymore, especially in weeds. Once you have the ripping figured out, take me out and show me how its done S.
  13. My two stroke has been burning cheap ass oil for the last 17 years with no problems. I'm not sold on synthetic. I also run dyno oil in my turbo car engine. I can't justify paying more for the same results. S.
  14. I've been shopping there for years now cliff. Gerry is a great guy. He also makes some nice musky baits. He'll custom make a lot of different lures in any colour you want. Just ask. He's a great guy to deal with for warranty stuff too. I take all my broken stuff to him, and he always makes me happy. I've even had him bring bait to his house for me to pick up after hours.........good guy for sure. Don't forget he sells all hunting/fishing licenses too! The other guy up the road wouldn't get my business if he was the last guy on the planet.......what a knob!! S.
  15. Hi Teressa, welcome to OFC! I hope you can catch fish better than the old boy S.
  16. I'd hand dig the hole and pour concrete myself. I'm not sure what you've got to work with though, so can't really help. Don't use a spike though, especially if there is a gate going on the post. Get yourself a hole digging shovel, and you can have the hole dug quicker than you'll pound that spike in the ground. What Gerritt said will also work just fine. Must be a heavy duty fence if your using 6x6 posts?? S.
  17. Ok, I catch quite a few walleye. I consider myself pretty good at catching them, BUT, I've NEVER caught one on a bucktail. I won't even waste my time with those damn things!!! 3" white grub on a pink 1/4oz head is all ya need to catch walleye out of sturgeon. Either that, or a big ass black and orange musky spinner bait No need to go far, I'm getting them about 500m from your doorstep. Straight west. Find the deep weed edge, and have atter. 15lb power pro, to an 8lb fluoro leader, tied with a uni-uni. No swivel, no snaps. Just drag it along bottom, nice and slow. They're in there Cliff, go get 'em!!! s.
  18. Try going hunting, with your boat in tow. Pretty soon I'm going to have a big folder to carry all my crap to be legal. Wanna know the worste part about it?? I've never been asked for any of it!! Been stopped many, many times. Never asked for boat registration, or gun registration. Never even been asked to see my gun license for god sakes. They look at my outdoors card, and check my safety gear, and have a nice day. Over regulated, under enforced.......such a crock of crap!!! S.
  19. Don't forget your boaters licence
  20. I was musky fishing today. I was throwing a big ass spinner bait. There was a guy in another boat close by, rip jigging for eyes. I hooked a 15" walleye on my big ole spinner, then look over at the other guy, who was fighting a big 'ole musky on his bucktail. Funny how it works sometimes. I don't know how many times I've given up on musky, threw out the old white grub to try and catch a couple walleye, and nail a musky. Happens quite a bit. You never know with musky, they will fool you everytime!! S.
  21. Cliff, I was out there today musky fishing. Got two musky, 41" and 37". Also got 4 walleye casting musky spinnerbaits. My buddy that was with me caught a couple more eyes on a hammered silver wormharness, tipped with a berkely powerbait leech. We were almost within shouting distance of your house. Definitly within eyesight of your front window!!!! I don't know what your doing wrong my friend. I think it might be your new boat that's cursed?? S.
  22. There is nothing to getting a new ownership. I just got a new one for my dads trailer..........they didn't even ask if I was him.......LOL. S.
  23. Nice work john!! A healthy release is much more important than a pic with the logo. If you look at any fish I've entered, they've all been dead. There is a reason. I'd rather lose the tourny, but have healthy releases. Its just bragging rights, remember!! Next time, put the logo in your mouth, and get a quick picture holding the fish. NO MEASUREMENT is required in the picture. Again, congrats on the first slime of the season!! S.
  24. Good stuff guys!! Looks like fun! How deep were ya's fishin? How far down?? Any kind of pattern for the day? Divers or riggers?? I just rigged all my bigwater gear, and I'm itching to get out there. Last week I hit one bow 30 down over 144 on a fruit loop spoon. Only hit in 4 hours trolling. Should only get better....... S.
  25. What time do you guys get back in?? You's going for a beer or something afterwards?? I'm close by, we should hook up when your done. I work till 4:30pm. S.
