Nice shootin' Bob!! Way to get 'er done!! S.

I've lived in the kawartha's for the last 15 years. Of all the places to live, PTBO is waaaay down at the bottom of the list. i find its full of crack heads, and thieves. Last time I was there, my car was broken into....stole my camera and hand held GPS. Seems like every corner has a panhandler, or crackhead mooching something. I just hate it. The roads suck, the people are not the brightest either. Sorry if anyone here lives there, but i hate that place!! Kinda like the armpit of the kawartha's IMO. The outskirts however are great. I'm about 15 mins out of town, and love it! 30 mins to a number of great lakes, and good hunting too!! S.

I have no beef with wearing my seatbelt, but the most unsafe thing i've seen in cars is the auto locking doors. What is the point in those?? I witnessed an accident one time, happened right in front of me. A car went thru a stop sign of a major highway, and got nailed by a cube van. Both guys in the car were unconscious, and the car was on fire. I tried to get them out of the car, but the freakin doors were locked!!! i had to run back to my vehicle and get a hammer out of the trunk to break the window!! By the time I got back, the fire was almost to the cab of the car, and it was filling with smoke!! Has any one else thought about this? Or is it just me?? I unlock mine as soon as I'm rolling. I don't feel safe in my car with the doors locked....you never know. I wish I could disconnect that feature. S.

I've researched this, and nowhere can i find out what kind of birds they are. I can't tell from the picture, but they might be cormorants. Could be loons too....hard to say. I would love to know what they are though.....if anyone is up there and see's this, take a photo of one of the birds for me!! S.

Sorry to hear that Brian. It is one of the hardest things a person will have to do. I've been there, and it will get better. You did the right thing, cuddles is in a better place now. S.

Go to canadian tire and get a tube of GOOP. The marine stuff will seal anything you have, including a boat. Its awesome stuff, I love it!! S.

Add an 8ft length of heavy chain to that anchor and it will do its job. Try it, and let us know. S.

Don't worry, before you know it you will be using it all the time!! S.

Yep, they're all ringers! Except the mallard of course.......3 guys I assume?? Good shootin! Ringers are my favourite duck over the decoys. When they want in, there is no stopping them!! I haven't shot one yet this year, but have got into the bills pretty good!! FYI, a ringer will have grey/olive feathers on the tops of its wings, a bluebill will be white. If there is any white on the tops of the wings, they are bills. Those are all ringers for sure. S.

The trick to making a good hut is to build an awesome sleigh (floor), then add walls and a roof. I don't have pics of ours here cliff, but its 8x10, very comfy for 4 guys, and I can move it with one hand myself. Floor is 2x4 joists, with a 2x10 outside runner, then a 2x6 screwed to that to make it a double, and it also supports the floor joists. We put 5/8 PT T&G floor ply on that. Its solid, and pricey, but its lasted us 12 years so far, so I can't complain. The walls are just 2x2's, with styrofoam insulation, then comvered in Tyvek to keep any drafts out. Printers tin on the outside. We heat it with a Mr. Buddy heater, but we used to have a small wood stove in there. The wood stove was a lot warmer, and kinda nice, but the Mr.Buddy does the job, and is more convenient. We built the walls 5ft high, then peaked the roof up from there. There is just enough room for me to stand in the center, but when I'm sitting on the benches, there is lots of room above my head for hooksets LOL We've had 13 adults in it all at once.....one time LOL. It was jammed full, but we were all in there. 4 guys and gear is no problem, plenty of room. CPH has been out to it a couple times, as well as Buckster. Its a great rig!! S.

Nice catch, but they don't look like fillets to me. I was wondering how many perch fillets it would take to make 15lbs. I know its a lot more than 100 perch worth!! S.

No off roading. You will be fine in your car. I won't know for sure till friday. I'm off the next couple days. Shouldn't be a problem though!! S.

Steve, how ya doing bud? I might have a line on some free firewood for ya, but you have to come and get it. Its already cut into stove lengths, but will need to be split. Some of it might not be the best stuff going, but it will burn and serve you well for what you want it for. Let me get in touch with the guy and see if its worth your time to come get it. We already hauled a few truck loads out of there, and its all good stuff. The price is right.....FREE! Its close to my work....hope that's not too far! S.

The fire has been burning for about 36hrs straight at my place as of now. I love it!! S. -
Shell V-power has NO ETHANOL. Its all I would use in any small engine or outboard. I store all my gas powered equipment full, with seafoam as a stabilizer. NEVER had a problem with fuel, or start up in the spring. I'm running a '93 Mariner, so she's got a few hours on it, and never an issue with fuel. I've changed the fuel line once in all those years. Not to mention the chainsawes, mower, weed whacker, snow blower, and generator.....no problems. S.

I have a canoe and all the gear. Just say the word and we can go S.

I use to hunt ducks and geese years ago...

You can expect all the yahoos out on opening weekend. I'm as hardcore as they come when it comes to waterfowl, but I skip opening day. I will be in the marsh mid week, when I have it all to myself, and the birds aren't scared to death by all the shooting!! Give it a week or two, and you will only see the more hardcore waterfowlers out there. S. -
I think rainbows are open all year up there, but check and make sure on that lake. I can't remember off the top of my head. S.
-
Its stocked with rainbows, and also has bass. The rainbow fishing is hit and miss, but when you get one, its usually a nice one. Troll the top 6ft of water, over deep water, and you might get lucky. S.

i don't see a problem storing your boat in the boathouse. Lots of people do. Do just what you said and you'll be fine. I'd charge my batteries up before leaving it as well. S.

Atta boy Bob! Good shootin! S,

Interesting. I've looked and looked, but can't find anything about this. Do you have a link or anything?? S.

We always break a little ice to get out the last time. S.

Not that I know of, Mike. Why would you think they are gross and toxic? They feed on grain for most of thier lives, shouldn't be too much toxic material in there for them to ingest. I could see it in diver ducks that are gorging on zebra mussels though. I grind 'em and make pepperettes with most of my geese. Ducks I do the same with some of them, but I like to pluck the nice ones and roast them whole. I'm still fine after a lifetime of eating them, so they must be ok? S.
