The snows will be fine. I can't find an all season tire rugged enough for my likings, so I've been running snows all year. I've put 110K on them with no problems, or complaints whatsoever. Great tires, lots of traction, and real good on those dark rainy nights! S.

Naw...its all good. Moving a hut that size may not be as easy as you think though. Just sayin..... I had several heavy huts before I learned my lesson. S.

Just wondering how many guys here are into waterfowling? I'm a hardcore, fully addicted waterfowl nut. Its all I think about from sept till jan every year. I'm out twice a week, no matter what. How has your season been? Its tough around here right now, but up until now, I've had a great season, but the general consensus says its been a slower than usual season....just wondering what your thoughts are? We've killed a few here and there S. S.

Its hunting season, screw fishing! Once everything is locked in ice, I start fishing again, but from sept till then, I hardly touch a rod. Too many critters to kill S.

Definitly bring your own gear. Id bring a med set up for catching bait, and a med heavy, to heavy set up for everything else. There is a lot of shore fishing down there, mostly from bridges, but from what I understand there is some new legislation with regards to fishing in the area.....I"m not sure about that. I went out on the hobie cats, paid the guy 10 pesos and we trolled all morning. Mostly cuda's, but some guys get bigger stuff. Big Xraps, Yozuris's and the likes worked for me. Ghost colour was the best for me, but I also got some on clown Xraps. If you can still fish the bridges, get some shrimp from the kitchen to use as bait, and set up a bait rig with slip sinker, and have atter. We hammered the yellow tails, and some other type of snapper when we were there. It was loads of fun. They fight hard for their size. I'd bring a selection of hooks and weights of various sizes, as well as some topwater, and diving plugs. When I went, I brought a few spools of cheap line with me. You know, the canadian tire brand, 300yd spools. I brought 20, 30 and 40lb test. I gave it to the locals, as well as a bunch of cheap hooks and weights, and they hooked me up bigtime with places to fish, and even took me out at night, shorefishing, where they catch tarpon. I never did get one, but guys around me did...some of them were HUGE! I also gave them all the fish I did catch, which they seemed to REALLY appreciate!! Good luck! S.

I have an old oil stove that works great! I used it in my garage. Works great with the fan on, and even has a thermostat. S.

you already know my answer. We tried to heat ours with a Mr. Buddy heater, the big one, but its just not the same. Sure, its warmer than out side, but not even close to the wood stove. You wanna open/close the door quick, unlike with the woodstove, where you HAVE to open the door if you let the fire get too hot!! Like you said, there is just something about having a fire that is good for the soul! Dragging wood out can be a PITA sometimes though..... S.

The first stove we had was an ooooold coal burning stove, with a water jacket on it. It was a great stove, but was burnt out. This one is only has two seasons on it, but so far, so good. Its fairly solid, but not too heavy, and will burn a 16" log. S.

That's our second stove. That one we got from princess auto...it was cheap....maybe $100?? I'm not really sure. It works great though, and you can cook on it no problem. One fire log lasts about 6 hours when its real cold. Even then you have to open the door once in a while. No problem at all taking your coat off, but I like to have my boots on....its hard to keep the floor dry when your hauling fish out of it, and baiting hooks! We've spent many a weekend out in it, no problem. One cold, windy night, we had 13 adults inside "warming" up....lol....it was full to the brim, but we were all in there I keep it close to home, so no need to stay out in it, but we've had some good times out there! S.

Heres a few pics, might give you an idea. We built the walls 5ft high, and the slope of the roof is enough for a guy my height, 6'4" to stand with a hood and toque on. Its always open, with nothing it it. I bring all the gear out in a box that doubles as a bench. There is one permanent bench, and a couple fold down tables. We used to have two fold down bunks, but we never used 'em so, we took them out. They worked great though. 6 holes in the floor, but there is rarely more than 2 people fishing inside. I hardly ever do, I'd rather be in the open, but I do like to go in and warm up by the fire and get something "warm" to drink S.

2x3's with 3/8 ply will be plenty solid. Over kill if you ask me. Mine is 8x10, and we've never had a problem with the tin, or the 2x2 framing. Remember, I built it 15 years ago, and its still rock solid. Once we break it free from the ice with a bar, I can move it around with one hand. We tow it to the lake on a double skidoo trailer, with a winch to haul it on. We also put currogated plastic carboard on the inside walls, and sealed them up real good with 100mph tape and caulking. The plexiglas doesn't fog up once the stove is hot That is going to be a beast once your done with it. A heavy beast!! You should be plenty cozy though S.

I would try and find some metal for the exterior walls. Not only is it a lot lighter, but it lasts forever. If you can find printers tin, its usually priced fair. When I built my hut, around 15 yrs ago, that's what I used......and its still on there. Same set up as your doing, heavy duty floor, and light walls/ roof. I used 2x2 framing for the walls and roof. Its plenty strong. Ours has lasted all this time with the odd patch here and there of the tin. Find some plexi glass for the windows, and a nice little wood stove and your good to go! Did you put any thought into your floor holes when you laid out the notches for your joists?? Just askin.... S.

I can park at least 12 cars in my driveway, and my toro will blow it from the middle of the driveway, over the fence on the other side LOL. Its not a big machine either! S.

Although a blade on the bike is a little more fun, I find the blower does a nicer job, and takes less time. You also don't run out of room to pile it with the blower. You can pick one up for the same $ as a blade on the bike! S.

The key to it keeping is no air, and as little moisture as possible. Period. I use the same method as Bill. Another tip is to freeze them in the ziplocks in a single layer of eggs. This way they stack nice in a tupperware container, and when you take them out, they thaw a little quicker for those days your in a rush. No cure for me, just straight fresh roe. I scrape skien, and leave it in a strainer, with a sheet of paper towel on top, in the fridge over night. Most of the juice will fall thru the strainer into a bowl. Dry eggs keep for a long time. The moisture causes frost in the bags, and thats what kills the eggs. BTW, I haven't drifted a trib for many, many years, but this is how we did it in the late 80's-90's, when there were more fish than fisherman!! S.

All of a sudden I'm STARVING!! I haven't fished since early sept, and my freezer stock is long gone!! I was going to take this week off hunting, so maybe I'll try some perching instead......If your planning on going wed or thurs, let me know. I'd be happy to join you, and share the drive/expenses.
