Anyone Going to Quinte(Picton) Nov18,19,20,21.
Sinker replied to Fish Farmer's topic in General Discussion
I will be hunting ducks down there mid week. No fishing though..... S. -
No cure. Just pat it dry, freeze in ziplock bags with enough for a day trip in each bag, suck the air out of the bag with a straw, then put all the small packages into an airtight container and freeze. Lasts forever. Getting the moisture, and air out is the key. I also like to kind of spread the eggs out flat in the bag once I suck out the air. They thaw quicker that way, and stack nice in the airtight container. S.

I would break that on the ride out

OMG....you killed a walleye! Nice fish! They look tasty S.
-
My guess is it freezes solid in about....oh....5 mins. Gimmick! S.
-
The worste part is they don't sell them to eat. They are sold to be released, and bring the buyers good fortune!!! S.

Mine is never stored long enough to put it up on stands. I would miss out on some great opportunities if I actually "winterized" my boat. I just flip up the blind, and throw a tarp over it. I keep the snow cleared around it so I can get at it if I need to get out in it. So far this year, My boat has been in the water every month. I never "winterized" it at all. Just kept on using it. As long as the lakes aren't froze over by December, this will be the first time ever i used it all 12 months in 20 yeas of owning it. S.

I would take ecmilley's advice. He's been doing all the work on my car, and I have nothing but good things to say about him and his work! Great guy, great deals, and quality work! S.

I've always wanted to try this as well. I think there is a guy on here that does bow fish. Skud maybe? I forget, but I know GB fisher used to do it as well. I'm not sure if he's still around here or not. S.

What sbould a gas fireplace insert cost me?
Sinker replied to Cast-Away's topic in General Discussion
That sounds about right to me. I put an airtight wood insert in my fireplace for a little less than that, but same ball park. S. -
My gut tells me it was clean as a whistle, since you hardly use it. I have a straight run thru the roof, so mine stays very clean as well. I also burn well aged hardwood. That helps a lot. My cap does get clogged with soot though, so I'm surprised they didn't go up and have a look up there. I also burn wood from about sept sometime, until usually may.....pretty much non stop. I don't burn it as hot when its warmer out, obviouisly, but there is pretty much always some sort of fire going here for 6 months of the year. I still get it checked annually, even though I already know its clean. More for piece of mind, and insurance reasons than safety. If your not comfy going up on a ladder to have a look from the top down, let me know, Steve. I can come by and check it out for ya. I'm not certified, but I have no issues with ladders or heights, and know what a good chimney should look like. S.
-
Take a tues or wed off, and maybe we can work something out S.
-
I've never seen or heard of it being done from the bottom up, Steve. How do they inspect your cap if they don't go on the roof? I dunnno, sounds fishy to me. I will dig up the number for the guy who does mine and send you a pm. I don't have the number here, but will get it tomorrow. S.
-
That might work if we didn't live so far away. I don't think me driving 1.5 hours in the opposite direction to pick up the boat is a good plan. You could store it at my place though :clapping: S.

Sinker replied to limeyangler's topic in General Discussion
Thats a great sled for fishing and bush whacking, Simon. Your gonna love it! S. -
That sucks dude! I just blew my lower unit on my outboard, so we're both screwed!! Lucky for the ducks!! Bummer!! S.
-
I would say for sure it is. Pretty cool! Think you can do it again?? S.
-
Its all good. I bet he doesn't see another boat if he goes there. Watch out for deer hunters though! S.

Head lake is the lake that is in downtown haliburton. Right in town. You can also go down the river into grass, and kashagawigamog lake. They also have eyes, musky, bass.... S.

Proposed New Bass Changes for Southern Ontario
Sinker replied to SmokestackLightnin's topic in General Discussion
Great idea....lets play with the bass regs. Meanwhile, wild, native fish suffer. MNR= Ministry of NO RESULTS. What a joke. Bass could be open all year no problem. I can't beleive people waste thier time fishing for them anyways......no teeth, no challenge. S. -
I've had a cottage in that area for twenty something years. If you want musky, head up to haliburton and fish head lake. You can get walleyes in there too. Pine lake, right in gooderham also has eyes. They're tricky to catch, but they are in there, and nice size fish too. You'd probably have more fun fishing the put and take stocked trout lakes up there right now, that are open all year. This is the best time of year to fish specks and bows with an open all year season! Especially the bows! S.

Ever fish the kawartha's?? They go thru cycles, and it has NOTHING to do with fishing pressure. trent severn waterway is the biggest culprit. When spawning beds are left high and dry for a few years, you notice the decline in fish populations. The years we have high water in the trent, we get lots of fish. It happens. Check the scugog walleye population right now....check it again in 3-4 years. I've seen it happen in all the kawartha lakes I fish. S.

I just found it odd that you assumed all back woods properties were covered in "junk". For all you know, they could be making a living off that junk. The comment was one I thought would come from a citiot. You know, the ones who move in to a home next to that guy, and then complain about his "junk"......meanwhile, the guy is being resourceful, and making useful things out of it. Some people just like to do that sort of thing when they have the room on their country lots to store the "junk". S.
-
Hey, I never said I was resourceful........and didn't say I had all that junk on MY property. Also didn't call YOU a citiot.....just sayin Calling me a citiot is laughable at best Anyways, have a great day S.
