  1. It all boils down to what you plan on using it for. A cheaper saw is fine for most things around a small property. If you plan on cutting firewood, and felling trees, invest in a decent machine that will last. S.
  2. I'm not sure about price, but the best all around saw IMO is a stihl 260. It will outlive you, and cut anything you throw at it. I run saws almost daily. I always grab the 260 (mine is actually an 026...a little older). The 361 is my back up, and felling saw. It will drop some big trees if you know what your doing. I've ran all brands thru the years, had a couple of the older husky's, but as was said above, quality has really gone down hill on the newer models. If you can find an older used one, they are a great saw. Don't buy into the easy start Bull, or the quick tensioner units......total garbage. Ok for putting around the house cutting branches, but that's about it. Get one that's old style where you loosen the two nuts on the bar, and turn the screw to tighten the chain. Bulletproof! Ask any forester what saw they like and I bet 3/4 say the stihl 260.....the rest will be all the other brands. Can't beat a stihl as far as I'm concerned. They're a great investment, and have proven themselves over and over again. S.
  3. Same here. Drives me nuts. I actually view ofc on my PC in mobile mode, and still have to manually change it on my phone. Even if I don't log out. There's gotta be a way to fix this, no? S
  4. You'll catch the same fish with a spinning reel. The twisted line sounds like stretched line to me. What kind of line is it? S.
  5. Crestie is lookin great Jammer!! S.
  6. I"m not sure about the iron blaster, but do you have a water softener? Like aplumma said, a water chemistry analysis would help. S.
  7. Still smilin! Two thumbs up for sure! S.
  8. Yessir!! We're ready to rock!! Can't get here soon enough!! 2 more sleeps Good luck! Hunt safe and shoot straight!! S.
  9. I've been using a couple abu's (5500, and 6500)for more years than I care to mention. No issues yet. I fish for everything though, not just musky. I only use the abu's for musky. One of them I bought used to boot. S.
  10. This is always the start of the migration for most waterfowl too. Central ontario opener this weekend! Woohoo! S.
  11. No worries then. Just get a chimney sweep, and clean it out once in a while. Don't try and simmer the fire with pine. You have to have a good hot fire to help prevent the creosote build up. Just make sure you start with a clean chimney to start. Its not as bad as some make it out to be. There's no hard wood where my old man lives in nfld either. Been burning mostly spruce for 3 generations in the same house. I wouldn't think twice about it. It won't be the best wood for heat, but it will keep ya warm if you keep the wood to it! S.
  12. Meh......nothing on those sites that hasn't been said here. S.
  13. I do a trip down there every fall, but in Nov.....for ducks. Have a great trip! S.
  14. My old man burns 95% spruce in his for 9 mos of the year. You have to know how to clean your chimney, its messy wood, but if that's what you have, burn it.
  15. Same here.
  16. I'd burn it in mine. Do you have a straight pipe to the roof, or is there an elbow or two? Definitely needs to be good and dry. S.
  17. Yep, I had the original fuel line off my engine for about 15 yrs, worked fine, no problem. Started running ethanol fuel, and started having problems. Started by cleaning the carbs and worked my way all the way back to the tank from there. It was the line. After taking it apart, it was a gooey mess inside. The shell station I use says right on the pump, no ethanol in V-power. They better not be rippin me off, or I'm gonna be pissed!! I'm going in there today. I want answers!! Friggen scammers as it is!! S.
  18. All suncor fuel has had ethanol as long as its been around. Only shell v-power, or these small no-name stations have no ethanol in any grade. S
  19. Just goes to show how easy bass (sunfish) are to catch try getting a real fish, with teeth, to do that! Lol S
  20. Interesting way of piling wood. Never seen it done like that before. Is there a reason for piling it like that? Just curious? S.
  21. There is one in wilberforce called "the fishes lunchbox". They had no minnows on the long weekend though. Very easy to trap minnows up there though. Just about. Every ditch, creek, and swamp is full of them. The creeks that cross elephant lake rd, just south of elephant lake lodge always has enough for us, but I haven't trapped there this year. Bring a trap, you'll have no trouble catching bait. S.
  22. I'm not exactly sure, but I don't think you can do that. I wouldn't do it regardless if you value the northern lake at all. That's exactly how invasives get into those lakes. Get them from the area your fishing. S.
