Havent had a report since the new year, but Saturday I managed to get out to the north shore with my fiance Kelli, troutguy and a buddy of his. Fishing was very tough, but Kelli and I managed to put a few on the ice. She kicked our butts today and put 4 decent lakers on the ice. I managed 3. All fish taken on a homemade jig, man that feels nice! Brought one little stocker home for the pan, the rest are still swimmin. Tight lines! Here's some more action from the 2010 season to date. I'm getting some charters booked up now, which is nice. 14 incher from Innisfil This was on 2 inches of ice, didnt want to post and give people the wrong impression about conditions, safety first. A good friend and client with a beauty laker on one of my new jigs! Nice evening after work 5/6

HEy everyone, After a scary, but successful outing last Thursday, I finally had a day off yesterday to get on the laker grounds. I have developped a love for ice fishing lakers, i really look forward to ice season for this reason. I invited a few friends for the trip and we got there around 7am. We found 5-6 inches of black ice in most areas. There was a TON of bait in the area, both herring and smelt and that made the vex difficult to use, but the fish were still around. Between us we landed about 20 fish, mostly on a homemade jig I've been working on, but some on tubes and spoons. Pretty slow overall, but some fish could be coaxed. My buddy Mike landed a couple BEAUTIES!

Hey everyone, I made a trip around the west side of Simcoe on Thursday and did a bunch of fishing. I fished around Lefroy all morning on 7-8 inches of ice and pounded on the perch, got a good meal out of those critters then headed up to Bear Point to check it out. I was out on 2.5 inches of black ice (4-5 inches of white chunk ice near shore). I went with a firefighter buddy of mine, we both have ice safety certification and feel comfortable on that ice. Guys are posting that there is 6-8 inches of ice out there now, and no offense to them, but I have a truly hard time believing that even with these -20 nights, that we have added 4-6 inches in 2 nights, even if there is in some spots, it wont be everywhere. Don't rely solely on an internet source and be careful out there everyone!!! Check the ice, wear your float suits and ice picks, I'd hate to see an OFNer become a statistic. Good luck, and I might as well add the fish porn

Be careful what kind of ice thickness you're posting online.. I was there on Thursday on 2.5 inches of ice, and I have a VERY hard time believing it thickened up 4-6 inches in 2 nights.

Lots of bass and pike to be had, in mid Sept, fish a little deeper if you're looking for pike. Weeds in 15-20 feet. The water is gin-clear -
every one of those "anglers" should be ashamed, good on grandpa bringing the kids down to enjoy the wonderful fishery

Hey everyone, In addition toSir Catch-A-Lot Pro Guiding I have decided to pursue my love of the fishing industry by developing my own bait company with a good friend and fishing partner. We will be introducing a line of soft plastics in the VERY near future, as well as developing an up-to-date website with PayPal etc. For now, you may be interested in our current line of baits including flippin jigs, worm harnesses and custom tied trailer hooks. All of which can be found at http://sircatchalot.piczo.com/?g=42643395&cr=2 Or check out some of the photos below.

I have the base camp which is just a foot wider than the expedition. Great hut when its not windy. But she's a pain setting up in the wind, especially today.

For me, I've always been a competitive person. I grew up with 2 brothers, both very athletic, strong kids. We would challenge each other at everything and loved sports. I have never been physically fit, but I loved sports. I played basketball, volleyball, I played hockey for 14 years, played baseball. I love the competition. For me, I love the challenge of fishing. Every day is different. I love the strategic aspect of the sport, how such miniscule details make such a difference in your success rate. I love being able to share time in the outdoors with friends, or being able to fish alone in peace and tranquility (why I dont fish the Kawarthas much lol). I love the sound of a topwater strike, I love the thump of a smallie hitting a spinnerbait, I love the tick of a fish picking up a senko, I love the hook set on a jig. I love the drive to the ramp and the anticipation, I love the first cast, I just love everything about it.

Thanks everyone, I already cant wait to get 2010 started! Panfish in Kawarthas, Look OUT! -
I've been guiding for 5 seasons now, and every year my client base continues to grow. I can't tell anyone that I'm the most experienced guy out there because it's not true. I guarantee that guys like Greg Klatt and Paul Castellano can bring more to the table as far as experience goes. But being 23, thats expected. I feel I have accomplished a lot in the 5 years I have been doing this. I've been fishing minimum 80-120 days a year since I was 15 years old, and that kind of time on the water is experience and knowledge. As a guide, I love it. I love putting people on fish and sharing knowledge and passion for the sport. I have still not had a fishless day out there with a client and I am very proud of that. As I get older, people seem to put more trust in me, and again, thats expected. I had 4 time, a 3 time repeats this season, and it happens for a reason. I pre-fish for guiding clients. If I have to meet them at 8am, I'm there at first light, and I'll scout the lake for an hour an a half. If I have an afternoon 4-8 charter, I might go as early as 10am to fish without hooks or try and spot shallow fish. It's paid off many times. In general, when you pay for a guide, you're getting your money's worth.
