  1. Carwin is NOT the best striker in the heavyweight division! He has heavy hands no doubt, but that doesnt make him the best striker Junior Dos Santos, Cheick Kongo, Cro Cop, Gilbert Yvel are among the elite strikers in the division. As for Demian Maia beating Anderson Silva, crazier things have happened, but if you think the same guy that got BLASTED by Nate Marquardt in under a minute is going to get through Silva's range and beat him on the mat, you've got another thing coming. Anderson Silva is also a black belt in BJJ and even if it does go to the mat, he is good enough to at least nullify Maia while punishing him with elbows or forcing a standup, and trust me, the referees will look for a standup
  2. He weighed at 265 for the Kongo fight too. He's been working with a powerlifter and gained 25lbs in muscle mass since his last fight with Lesnar
  3. Mir is a far more technical fighter than Carwin, he will be faster on the feet, smarter and his jiu jitsu will give Carwin fits on the mat. I like Carwin and I'd love to see him KO Mir, but Mir takes this one IMO GSP and Hardy. GSP by Ground and Pound TKO in Rd 2
  4. I agree. I've fished it 4 or 5 times and only caught 1 pike. You'd be asking for trouble poking around there. The cottagers association on the lake is also right on top of things like this.
  5. I've got a 50lbs MinnKota powerdrive bow mount for sale in the next couple weeks.. PM if interested
  6. I believe the intent is to keep pike out of Zone 17 so they're encouraging the catch and keep of these fish. That being said, an 18 inch pike is still tasty in a beer batter!
  7. nicely done. I gotta give that a shot this season
  8. Yeah I have definitely never seen or heard of a pike out of Scugog. Would be very interested to get some confirmation on that. Canal is loaded with them, Balsam now has a fishable amount as well as Mitchell.
  9. Paul is an incredible guide. Nice job out there guys!
  10. One of the biggest factors is line diameter. Ideally you want a 12lbs diameter or more. So for braided line that means 50lbs. You can use lighter line, but to learn, its MUCH easier with heavier line.
  11. thanks everyone... looking forward to the open water!
  12. Well the ice season has come and gone for me now. I was super excited for the 2010 ice season and the excitement never died for me. It was my inaugural season for guiding on the ice, and I would say it was very successful. Thank you to all who supported me and continue to support me over the years, to all that read my posts and follow my story. I'm going to take a couple weeks of personal time and smash some steelhead, then in a few weeks time I'll be back on the water guiding and fun fishing for perch, crappie and Kawartha pike. Should be a blast! I spent most of my season on the West side of Simcoe fishing Lefroy up to Hawkestone, depths changed every day, but my best depth for trout was around 91 feet and my best depth for perch was about 45ft. My top producers with season for perch were small jigging rapalas and a small scud bug fished on 2lbs test. Top producers for trout were the zonker jigs, laker takers and tubes, hands down. Enjoy some pics from the season. Thanks again for looking! fund day out for myself, getting a feed of perch first trout of the year, January 7th Mike with a beauty laker on the laker taker Outfished 4-3 by my fiancee test driving the zonker The famous white faces couple for the smoker tank caught by myself, bad pic A good day for the gumbos Another solid fish on the laker taker Love taking the old man out Nice one Some keepers for the ladies 4 hours work Sometimes I go for suckers of the deep nice whitie on the spoon 4 hours of productive fishing Good way to bond with the father-in-law No complaints One of hundreds released to swim another day board members do it best first 5 minutes Loved the hookset and cheers! awesome! headed home early with their limit brotherly love Great way to end the season Thanks again everyone, Tight lines!
  13. BPS is a retail outlet, so not all the staff is going to have a deep knowledge base. some of them are part time students paying bills, some are just merchandisers and shelf stockers. We have many employees that have a vast knowledge, and there are some in each department at all times, I guarantee it. As far as pricing on products, some is up, some is down thats the same anywhere. Shops around on portable ice huts and find a cheaper place.. if you can, let me know.
  14. Haha, I knew one of these was coming. We released a lot more fish than what was kept over the past few weeks. We've had a good ratio of stockers/naturals, almost 50/50 and the majority of the naturals went back, plus many stockers as well. Tons of fish to go around.
  15. Well I have had a busy few weeks, between my full time job, guiding and sick for 3 days straight last week, I havent had much time to post, but I've been out and about helping folks put a hurtin on some Simcoe lakers. As of this afternoon, we have pulled 76 lakers and 5 whities through the hole in the last 7 trips. Many fish kept for the cooker, many fish released. Everything caught in 75-91 feet of water on a mixture of spoons, tubes, zonkers and laker takers. Too much to report all at once, but I enjoyed the company of everyone these past few weeks and thanks to everyone for making my inaugural ice season a successful one. Met a bunch of board members this year, hope to meet more in the future. Enjoy the pics from the past bunch of trips.
  16. I dont like a shootout with Miller in goal
  17. Canada's misplaying the puck a lot this game. Going to be a nerve racking 3rd period
  18. I've tried this rig a bunch of times and caught some fish. I've found a lot of fish follow it and dont commit, switch to a single fluke and catch em. I'll stick with the basics
  19. nice job dude, I'd kill for a bass right now haha
  20. i'm jealous
  21. Spring Fishing Classic starts March 12
