Saturday Well I had a busy day today, I met my first group at the 9th line of Innisfil at about 8am this morning. These two ladies had never tried ice fishing and wanted to give it a shot. We targetted perch for their first time. We started in 46 ft and marked a ton of fish, but very finicky. Moved to 57 and found some more aggressive fish. They iced about 50 fish in the 4 hours and brought home about 25 for the pan. Not a phenominal bite by any means but steady and enough to keep them happy, thats what matters. Most fish taken on nymphs and a new "bug" I've been working on. Met my second group at 1pm and headed out to the laker grounds. Set up shop in 94 feet of water and never moved. Steady marking the whole trip until 5pm, with some very aggressive pods moving through. Will and Decker managed to go 6 for 10 including 2 double headers. 2 fish caught on a tube, 4 on the zonker. Sunday Well I met up with Brad and Amy for a half day on Simcoe today. Had a productive day yesterday so decided to try the same spot. Slow start then the whities started moving in steady. The fish werent very aggressive in general, but the odd fish would SMASH the zonker jig. The two guys limited out and I brought one home for myself, cant wait to get it on the smoker.

I had made plans to take my dad out for lakers, and I got a call a few nights ago from some clients asking to go the same day. They didnt mind the extra company so we all headed out in search of some trout. The day started a little late, setting up shop at around 8:30am in 90feet of water. The snow got heavy and the fish were moving through pretty good but not showing a lot of interest. Dropped spoons, bad boyz, jiggin raps, laker takers to no avail. Around 9:30, one client called for help as I was in the other hut. Arrived to see his rod buckled as he was doing battle with his first lake trout. I saw it flash and knew it was a good fish. Got it to the hole and into his hands, an 11 pound thing of beauty. The fish was not able to be released unfortunately, but it wont be put to waste as his wife was happy to hear of the catch hahaha. For the next 3 hours, the fishing was pretty steady and between the 4 of us we put 10 more through the hole. Most of the fish were taken on my zonker jig, but 2 on a laker taker and 1 on a tube. The bite slowed at around 1pm and we missed a few hits and called it a day at around 4pm and we all headed home happy. Good day out!

February 10 Perch report *PICS*

For the 5 hours, the bait took longer to get to bottom than to get bit. -
Well after putting the hurtin on the lakers all weekend, and my perch supply now fully diminished, I decided for a change of pace. Kelli and I headed south of our laker grounds in search of those tasty little striped fish. Got to the lake at 7:15 and started in 25 fow. Lots of fish around, but all averaging 6-8 inches. Moved to 32 and hit the jackpot. From 8am - 1pm there was never a blank screen on the vex and Kelli and I caught fish every drop. We fished the bottom with small tubes, scud bugs and fished for the suspended fish with a small smelt pattern jig. Landed close to 200 fish and kept 30 a piece. No big fish, but a LOT in the 9-11 inch range and about a half dozen 12's. PErch is stocked up for a while, time to get back after the "real fish" Thanks for reading

Well after about 3 weeks of waking at 6am or earlier, I finally let myself sleep until 9:30am this morning, man was it ever refreshing. As I awoke, the red light on my phone was blinking. A message from a good friend and fellow guide informing me that the lakers were on fire again. I quickly got dressed and headed out the door. After a 3km walk I ended up where I wanted to be at around 11:15 and dropped the vex. 98 feet of water and no fish in sight. I fished by myself until about noon when another good friend showed up on his sled. We had a good talk, reminiscing of good old college times and the fish started to move in. They were very aggressive and would fly off bottom to attack baits hanging 20 feet up. He had to leave at 2pm, and offered me a sled ride to shore which I couldnt refuse, but I ended the 3 hour trip going 5 for 7. Cal went 2 for 4, but had landed 2 whities earlier on. I took 4 fish on my new Simcoe Zonker jig and 1 on the good old tube. Cal got 1 on a laker taker and 1 on a tube. His whities earlier on a jiggin rap. Nice way to spend a few hours! Not very busy out there today, no Superbowl crowds i guess. My camera was acting up, but managed a few pics before it buggered up with "fuzz". If anyone has any insight into why the "fuzzy lines" appear in the photos, I wouldnt mind some opinions. Take care, kep those lines tight!

Met up with a buddy at around 8am and we took the atv out to the middle of the lake, if you asked me where, I couldnt tell you hahaha. After thawing myself slightly, I set up the base camp and had my first line down the hole around 9am. Fish were few and far between, but the fish that did pass through were absolutely suicidal. In 3 hours, I only marked 12 fish, but landed 4 and lost 2. All fish on the Impact Laker Taker Moved just north of Fox Island and fished there from 12 - 2. Lots of blank screen again, but the fish that moved through were all over the laker taker. Landed 4 more, including 2 good fish in the 7-9 pound range. Headed home at 2pm, have a shower to fix. EW! Interesting note: Of the 8 fish I landed, 5 were natural fish. Excellent to see! Average size, landed 6 of these Nice 7 or 8 pounder Weapon of choice Another

After 9 days of working, driving and tying jigs to keep up with the orders, I finally got a chance to hit the South Shore. Started in 79 feet with a spoon and marked just 1 fish in an hour, moved to 112 feet, missed one on one of my jigs and it was dead again. I moved to 106 and managed a nice little 4 pounder, natural, so back she went. Made a move to 82 and hit the jackpot, I landed 4 more in just under 45 minutes. My new jig took a beating. Brought home 2 stockers for the smoker. I've added pics of the jigs to my site for those interested! Scroll to the bottom IMPACT! Fishing Co.

I've had a bunch of PM's on other boards about these jigs, so here's what I'll do. I've been selling them to guys on the ice @ 2 for $5. I'll do the same here on OFC. They are fairly unique to ice fishing, and are extremely effective, but fairly easily replicated. I dont want to post photos online and have the "secret" get out. I will sell them @ $3 each or 2 for $5 to OFNers. I have "higher quality" ones that I've been doing for $4 each. Anyone interested has already received a PM. If you havent, please email me @ [email protected] I'm not here to SPAM or take advantage and I dont want to put that vibe out, I'm only doing this because of a decent demand that I have received. Enjoy and tight lines!

Not any of those ones. It's a totally different jig, made specifically for laker jigging. I havent quite "perfected" this one yet. You'll see it soon enough.
