It's my rod and I love it. I have 4 of them now, and probably many more in the future! -
Mid Weed Wrap-up (TANKS!) *PICS*

Kulik's still around, guiding, pouring baits and fishing the Kingston Open this weekend if I'm not mistaken. This tattoo in full colour will run me about 1000 bucks which is a killer deal on a half sleeve. Most guys will charge you 1500-2000. -
Tuesday afternoon I went on a little fishin' adventure. Sat for 2 hours for the outline and now I've got about 6 hours of colour ahead of me. 3 more weeks and I'll start the shading/detail and some colour. This is after 2 hours so excuse the vaseline shine lol. Today I had two groups booked for Simcoe again after a great week last week. Met my first group at 8:00am and fished for some largies. Wasnt much going on in the deep stuff so we moved up shallow throwing soft stickbaits and topwaters. Both baits landed their share of fish in the 1-2 pound range. 1 good 3.5 pounder for the morning off a water line jug. Done by noon with about a dozen fish between them, only 1 good one though. NExt group came up for a 2:30 to 6:30 trip and we hit the big water for some smalljaws. We found them and found then good! Some real big fish for this time of year. All fish in 15-17 feet of water on dropshot slammers in smoke/pearl white bottom. Couple double headers even to add to the fun! double header!! Tank at the end of the day, only a 4.5 beside it... lol. What a day! On tap for the weekend: Night tournament on Friday from 8pm-2am then volunteering as a boater for the Junior Bassmasters tournament Sunday on G-Pool. Lines tight everyone,

Tiger Musky from another Kawartha Lake?
steverowbotham replied to fishnsled's topic in General Discussion
I would say a tiger musky. -
nice job man! Awesome day out!

Six Mile is a good lake. There are also some really good lakes close by Cooch if you do happen to get windy days. Lake St. John is right there, Sparrow Lake, Bass Lake, Kashe Lake are all within a 10-25 minute drive of Cooch.

I will 3rd that. a small tin boat on Cooch can be dangerous. Be careful out there!

Awesome week of bass fishing! *PICS*

I think we'll get the number of boats out. It's really important to get these kids out fishing, and I'm surprised by the lack of support. I've been offering my boat for the past 6 years now, and will continue to do so. Great program. -

I was praying for better results after the string of bad luck. Makes a big difference when you can fish confidently in your own boat haha. Thanks for the kind words everyone! -
Alright, I'm back after another busy week! Monday, I took some time to go fish largies on Cooks Bay. Something I havent done too much of for the past couple of years believe it or not. I was supposed to have a guide in the afternoon but the group was concerned about weather with thunderstorms approaching. The thunderstorms never came, but I got out anyways as I had a few groups out there this week and the largies were on fire! Fished a 1/2oz Booyah Boo Jig in 14-26 feet of water and landed about 20 fish, mostly in the 3-4 pound range, great average size!!! I tried to get a pic by myself but it turned out almost white (should have checked before I let them go). I adjusted the settings the best I could to get this pic. Tuesday, I had a group out for some largie fishing and we picked up where we left off. This time, dropshot slammers and senkos on a splitshot rig did the trick. It was actually a pretty slow day overall but we had a 2 hour period where the dinner bell rang and the fish were gorging! Here's some happy clients! Wednesday I fished a 17 boat club tournament on Gloucester Pool. Our club has a 4 fish limit per angler (8 per boat). I flipped a Strike King Rodent the entire day and managed 12.45lbs for my 4 which placed me 1st overall with big fish as well with a 4.45 pounder. No complaints! But then I got home and found out my bank card had been copied and someone withdrew just under 600 bucks in 3 seperate increments at 2:30am. YAY! Off to the bank to get that figured out! Thursday I had a group doing an alcohol free bachelor party for their buddy. They had driven up from Nova Scotia and wanted some nice Ontario bass! I did what I could and put them onto a few. The bite was much tougher than it had been the past few days out there, but throwing crankbaits around deeper weed/sand transitions put a few good fish in the boat. Managed a couple smaller fish on stickworms as well. Friday I took a couple up to Couchiching in search of some good bass, but the fishing was very tough! It was only a 4 hour trip and although the perch were biting ferociously, the bass werent so hungry. We managed 5 in the 1-2 pound range, nothing bigger. Had smallies following the shadow from the boat but wouldnt touch a thing. Such is life. That's why they call it fishing, not catching! They were much happier than I was with the day, and I guess thats what counts! Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed!

Fished a tournament there on Wednesday and the bite was real good. Too many pike around though lol. Caught most of my fish flippin, but some on topwaters and crankbaits

leave my fish alone... lol Good job man!

While it is an unfortunate occurance and there is a lesson to be learned, I dont think its right to call him out like this on a public forum that he contributes to. Hope everyone is okay.
-
Yeah man, it was a tough bite that day and you're right about the perch. We must have caught 30 or 40 on our tubes! That was the fly fishing client.

Since my last report, I've been busy. Sunday, I fished a 32 man club tournament on Sparrow Lake. It was a tough bite, but I found a good sized pod of decent fish, I just never found me a kicker. Ended up in 4th place, all fish caught on a flippin jig from 1-12 feet, no real pattern. Monday and Tuesday I was laying stone in the ridiculous heat, brutal! Wednesday, I had a client out on Lake Muskoka. He was up from Florida to watch his son play soccer (for the Dutch Lions FC) and wanted to fly fish for some smallies. I've never guided a fly guy before, but I obliged, it was intriguing. He was a very interesting guy. He is a broadway producer, and he's produced some pretty big shows... Lion King, Shout, and the original Chicago on broadway. He also produces music tours for the likes of Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. He did pretty well, landed about 15 smalljaws on a tough day with the extreme heat, and lost more, all on popping bugs. Thursday I had him out on Simcoe for some smallies. They weren't having any of the fly gear, but we managed to land about a dozen smallies in the 2-3 pound range throwing tubes in 12-14 feet of water. No pics from Simcoe. This morning, I had a group meet me at 6am to fish Couchiching. We started up shallow and got into a bunch of 1.5 - 2.5 pound fish throwing stick baits and topwaters. Later in the day we went to check a deep weed line I'd found last year. They were there again! They managed about 6 or 7 GOOD fish off the weedline throwing Chigger Craws. They kept a few 1-2 pounders for the BBQ and 1 bigger one that swallowed the hook, the rest were released. At 2pm when I dropped them off, I met my next group, a father/son from Brazil. We went to target smallies on Cooch as the wind on Simcoe had got up to bad for them. They managed about 8 bass over the 4 hours and probably 30 perch throwing crankbaits in 7-10 feet of water over sand/weed transitions. Nothing real big, but decent fish nonetheless. The father lost about a 4.5 pounder when it jumped and spit the hooks. Everything else was in the 1.5-2.5 pound range. Only 1 largie, the rest were smallies. Taking tomorrow off and a busy week ahead of me. Hope to report again a week from now. Thanks for reading

Josh Rosenthal reffed that fight and did a great job! Earlier in the thread someone said, I'm glad I didnt pay for that... that was on of the best UFC PPV's in a long time, every fight was a great fight, well worth the price if you're an MMA fan, well worth it. P.S. As much as I hate the dude, Lesnar would destroy Fedor IMO.

nice largie dude

nice. we had a tourney on Sparrow on Sunday. It was a very tough bite. Our club has a 4 fish limit and 10.05lbs put me in 4th place out of 32 guys... the heat has them lockjawed up there. Could see fish and it was a struggle to get bit.
-
This fight really could go either way. I want Carwin to win, and wont be surprised if he does, but I still see Lesnar winning by TKO in Rd 2

Rickster is in an animal nursery. Awesome pics guys!

It's been a while since I've posted here, my new job has had me very busy and kept me off the water. The last two weeks however I have been able to free up a lot of time to be on the water. I was entered in the Casey Cup tournament on Simcoe last weekend, a 130 boat bass tournament. I spent 3 full days on the water in the week before the tournament. On the monday I spent 10 hours with the trolling motor on high just looking for fish without a rod in my boat, thats exhausting, but worth while. I found some nice smallies and 2 BIG largemouth in the middle of nowhere... WPT WPT, come back for them. Friday I explored a different area of the lake and found some really nice 4-5 pound smallmouth. Some very key fish to hopefully go with my two big largies. Saturday I finally got to fish, I love opener! I didnt want to sting most of my fish, so I checked on my largies... sTILL THERE! We then proceeded to fish some smallie areas just to get an idea of what they're eating... Found a bunch of fish in the 4 - 4.5 pound range. Landed 6 lost 2 on the day but not really targeting our chosen areas. Cal with on of our smallies on Saturday, didnt take many pics obviously. Sunday was tournament day! We blasted out of Orillia through the narrows. We headed to one of our smallie areas first and as we were about half way there from the narrows, our engine died on my partner's boat. We dropped the trolling motor, put it on high and fished our way back to the launch without stopping and made it back with 5 minutes to spare! So upsetting! We put a lot of time into this tournament, never got to see one of our spots and my partner's engine needs some serious fixin'. We managed to scrape up a limit of largemouth in Couchiching weighing 14.20lbs I had a few clients out on Sparrow Lake early in the week for some largemouth fishing. Fishing was excellent with fish in a transitional period and feeding hard. We took about 20 fish on senkos, husky jerks and 7inch power worms, all released. I took Wednesday to fish a fun tournament with an old buddy on Rice Lake. I personally dont really like Rice Lake, its not my style of fishing, but I figured I'd give it a go with him. We blasted of at 7:00am with heavy wind and by 10am we had about 11 lbs in the livewell, nothing special but were starting to catch them good. All of a sudden the plug on his trolling motor started smoking and melted, we unplugged it and found that the pos and neg wires had melted together and caused the short. It was scary for a minute and we had no trolling motor anymore. I'm feeling like a curse at this point. We caught whatever drift we could in 35km winds and caught some fish, but all small and nothing to help. We managed 6th place out of 19 boats, less than 1.5 pounds out of 1st place. Must have been a tough day even with a trolling motor. What happens when 2 fiends go fishing together Thursday, I was supposed to guide the same gentlemen from earlier in the week but an illness caused a cancellation and they re-booked for next week. So I did nothing really, tidied the boat and re-spooled my lines. Today I took out an old friend who I havent fished with for many years. We decided to go to Couchiching as it's his favourite lake. We started up shallow and found nothing! Almost 3 hours with 1 smallie around 1.5 pounds. Brutal. We moved out deeper and found a good pod of solid fish. Mixed largies and smallies. Caught about 10 fish in the 2-5 pound range all on jigs and dropshots (two total opposites haha) Busy week! I'll take tomorrow to rest up and tourney on Sunday!

Awesome day for slab crappie....at last.

I dont see an issue with someone joining the site and posting a legitimate conservation concern. And while I disagree with his antics throughout the thread, it is a legitimate concern that should get more attention.

I've read that book about 5 times, excellent read!
