  1. No I never do that it has iced it up. I just said that it stalls as soon as I tilt it. So I cannot walk from hole to hole holding it with one hand. I had a 2hp before that I started it 20 seconds later turn off the choke set it down on it's side and setup my Clam while the auger warmed up good. Now I have have to hold it upright to warm up (aka shag I should've never done that trade, I've regretted it since. I really miss my 2hp)
  2. I was told by a mechanic that the best thing I could do to my new Jiffy 3 hp(yeah that one akashag) is to take the auger off put the head part on top of a plastic bucket, start it and put it a 3/4 throttle for 15 -20 minutes to do a good break-in. So i had about half a tank of gas in it and I let it go for 20 minutes. You can dig a lot of holes in 20 minutes of digging time and I only used a bit more than 1/4 tank. Now it works really good. But I still can't lie it on it's side without stalling it. If it's a new one the gas oil mixture is 40:1. If you can get oyur hands on Jiffy brand smokeless oil (it has gas stabilizer in it already) it comes in a small plastic bottle that is made to be mixed with 1 gallon of gas. http://www.jiffyonice.com/EComStore/product/2-cycle-oil,2739,25.htm
  3. This might just get me back into being a fan. Ever since they've started the CHASE I've lost all interest. And only watched a few races a year, Daytona and Talladega. I agree last years Daytona 500 was one of the worst races of the year.
  4. Make sure the vapor barrier is between your ceiling and the insulation. So you can't put insulation batts bewteen the joists and VP on top of that cause that would cause dampness in your insulation. My fully insulated garage is always 15 deg warmer in the Winter and 15 deg cooler in the Summer. It has to be at least -20deg outside( a couple of days) for my minnow water to freeze, with a aerator pump going in it.
  5. Never seen the Alberto knot? Is there another name for that knot? Never mind found it " Albright" Palomar on Braid, uni-uni for leaders and improved clinch on mono.
  6. Before adding anything you have to make sure that the motor is at the right height on the transom. It made all the difference in the world on my setup. Do you have to fight with the tiller to keep your boat straight? That was another problem I had with mine that got fixed by raising the motor to the right height.
  7. Looks like a periscope, to keep an eye on the fisherman.
  8. YUMMYY that looks really good, reminds me of home. My Mom is a Tremblay, her Dad was from Lac St. Jean so I've eaten a lot of those tourtieres, my Mom's Alzheimers has destroyed my favorite cook book!!
  9. ASk your question on the Vexilar Forum. They'll be more than happy to answer. I haven't tried the FLX-28 yet but does it have a low power mode? Or Weed Mode. http://vexilar.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=10&sid=7642c8edb807ef732771fd3cd35bb1b0
  10. You can buy a rifled barrel for most shotguns, it will do lot's for accuracy!
  11. If you get a Clam Fishtrap and you are going to pull it by hand do not make the error of putting runners under it because on wet snow the snow just packs them up and the sleds feels like it weighs 300lbs.
  12. The moveable Zoom is kind of overrated. The only place that you really need a zoom is for the bottom.
  13. Once you get it, it'll be easier to get it again from now on. The more times you are exposed to it the less your immune system fights against it. Sorry to say but long pants and long sleeved shirts whenever you work around it.
  14. You can get a new Stihl for around $350.00 for what you want the chainsaw for. I bought one this summer and what a difference to the Jonsered I had. Especially with the easy start option is a dream to start. Especially if you have any shoulder issues. And they had a special that if you bought a pack of 6 oil bottles for it you got an extra 2-3 years warranty extension.
  15. Always a great read Drew. Certainly got my feed of Black spruce pictures. Thanks for taking the time to share that with us.
  16. You will not have any issues speaking English in Montreal's tourist spots. Make sure you try a Montreal style smoked meat sandwich from a reputable Deli, they are simply mouth-watering!! Maybe a Montrealer can give a few Deli name's !!
  17. I agree with whitespinnerbait, he can fish the Ottawa River from shore with his Que.License. If you can find your way down to the bottom of the Rideau Falls, you might be able to catch some walleyes.
  18. Great report Mike. He'll keep that trip close to his heart for a long long time!!!!!!!!
  19. Make sure that you wet the knot properly before tightening, fluoro easily heats up when tightened so it becomes the weak spot on the line.
  20. Mayfly and they seem to be really late this year. Usually around the 2nd-3rd week of May. I remember doing my Scuba Diving license testing on the 2nd weekend of May years ago and there was a 3-4 inch layer on top of the water that we had to swim in!!! GROSS and the smell was awful!!
  21. Gorgeous colors on those walleyes which is typical for Northern Ontario. Love all the pix's
  22. If you tilt it up and use a ratchet strap ypu won't have any issues. It's the bouncing that could damage the boat.
  23. Bring it back to CTC and ask them to test it. They will put it on Load test. I had a defective charger that ruined one of my batteries. Got them both replaced because they were both from Canadian Tire. By the way batteries on concrete is just an old wives tale. It used to be true when the battery case was not made out of plastic. Make sure that you recharge your battery every time you use it. If you use multiple times and just recharge every once in a while it will create a memory and not fully charge anymore.
  24. I've had a Remington 870 for years and it is still in tip top shape. If you don't want it to rust, you have to do a bit of maintenance on it. A little oil goes a long way. I didn't buy the combo cause I bought it second hand, but I did buy a rifled deer barrel for it.
  25. The only person that I ever believed for a Weather forecast was an old Indian man. In Sept. 2011 he told me that we would have a long and very cold Winter. And I asked him how he could know that? He answered " White man cut lot's of wood"!!!
