  1. WOW! Thanks for taking the time to post them.
  2. Victor, If I catch your rod, I'll let you know. That animal is a whitetail fawn. Did you see that in the same area that you lost your rod? If so, then it's mom and twin were somewhere close by. My cottage is close to there and I have seen them a few times.
  3. Walleyekabob LOL! That's definitely a first!
  4. Keep in mind that this is just my opinion... Buy a couple dozen minnows and a minnow trap. As the others said, make sure that the bait shop fills the bags with O2. Also, buy a couple bags of Gulp artificial minnows. On day 1 and/or 2 use your real minnows to locate the fish. Put your minnow trap in the water and try to catch some minnows out of the body of water that you are fishing. The shiny metal traps work better than the plastic ones. If it is ridiculously hot, you can keep your minnows in your trap, deep in the water where it's cool. If/when you run out of live/real minnows, use the Gulp ones. Remember not to get any water on them until you are using them - this includes wet fingers reaching in the bag as they will start to break down. When done fishing for the day, take any of them off your hooks or they will be on there forever as they dry out and become rock hard.
  5. Too bad your weekend didn't turn out better. Nice to see that you got into a few crappie. I went shing last night from 9-10:30 and the crappie were the only things biting. I believe the weather didn't help. Where did you lose your rod?
  6. I use 6 lb P-Line on my 'river rod' and haven't had any issues with it.
  7. Victor, Message me for any specific info that you think you may need. My family has owned properties on lower Dalrymple (the lake you'll be fishing) for over two decades. I might be able to help, but I won't share with the world. Fishnfiend
  8. FTR - Private messages are better for this type of discussion.
  9. Okay, here's a tip from an ex internet narc: Make sure that you set your uploads to '0'. Basically, it is not illegal to take something that someone wants to give you for free, just don't get caught giving away something that you don't have the rights to. Limewire should work for ya. See if you can get an older version. Quite often they work better.
  10. oh...musky on a fly rod, now that sounds like a ton of fun!
  11. I'm in. The last mini-swill I attended ended up with a fantastic evening of salmon fishing with Tony. Yes, they are generally on Tuesdays as the wings are half price. Now, if only we could get beer at half price.
  12. Yep...down for the count. LOL @ the morons
  13. Yellow or green spinnerbaits. Minnows under a float/bobber. Rip-jig through weed edges. The barrel is still there marking the end of the shoal which extends underwater from the end of Avery's point. I'm sure that if you are staying with a 'local' you'll be alright. Good luck and we expect a report with pictures.
  14. http://www.ene.gov.on.ca/envision/guide/ will provide you with a general idea of what lurks in most bodies of water. I look at it any time I am going somewhere new. I don't see the burnt river listed, but look for any other bodies of water that are attached to it and you should find your answer.
  15. Nice fish! I am still trying to break the four foot mark. I can't believe how vividly blue the water is there.
  16. Thanks for the report. Glad you got into a few fish. What beautiful smallies.
  17. Thanks for taking the time to share that with us! (I know how long it takes) A definite candidate for report of the year! As for good food and wine. Why wouldn't you take the best? After all, you are on vacation and the idea is to enjoy yourselves, not just make do.
  18. I agree, good post. Might I suggest to anyone who enjoys a bonfire to douse it with water even if it seems to be 'out'. It only takes a couple minutes.
  19. Perhaps a spinner rig (similar to a worm harness, but only one hook) and a slip sinker would work. That way, you could use a big enough sinker to get down, but let it freespool upon detection of a hit. Count a couple seconds, close your bail and set your hook. Small, heavy spoons like cleos may work, too.
  20. We like lots of pictures, Dave.
  21. I thought that smallmouth ate Zebra mussels, too. Wouldn't some f them be floating?
  22. Happy Birthday! I, too, am looking forward to your first report this year. Point taken about the doc.
  23. My father is doing that this year on his battery for his bow-mount trolling motor. We did the math and figured if he used his motor for an hour or so a week it would never get overcharged. He has the small (1 or 2 watt) panel from C.T. I reused the plastic packaging and 'Red Greened' the edges to make it waterproof. So far, so good. Let me know what you end up doing and how it works for you.
