I'll give my $0.02. I apologize for not reading this entire thread (in case someone else has suggested this). If there is such a big concern with reports and pictures, then just make a 'reports' section that one must earn their chops to gain access to. Pretty simple.

You will have to wait for the lake to freeze up again.

First piking adventure ever.... success!

Nice report. You might also want to look into a titanium leader. They are pricey, but will last you forever (if you know how to properly tie a knot). -
Bring winterwear. I was up that way last year on the long weekend and it snowed - LOTS! ON the upside, there weren't many bugs. I am making the trip a week later this year in hopes of no snow and less people. Any good lake trout lakes between sudbury and timmins that one can launch a boat at? Are you staying indoors or camping? Be mindful of the bears and where you store your food. Bug hat/jacket is a must as well as repellent with a high deet content.

Go to a Niagara bar... troll for cats (cougars). Possibility of a double header depending on the size of your worm...

lol Wayne. That's a good one.

I thought pressure treated wood was not good for our waterways/fish...? Or is that only for docks that are constantly in contact/close proximity to the lake/river? I would think that using pressure treated wood on a boat trailer would have a similar effect. I know that you are not allowed to use it for any docks at my folks place. Thanks for the reminder as I need to rewire my trailer.

What do you do for drinking water on wilderness fishing trips?

I have this same unit. It works great, isn't too big or heavy. -
I have a brand new jig mold (for tubes), a couple hundred hooks, lead, etc. I want to make a batch or two before the softwater season. I could probably use some instruction... I live in Burlington. SHoot me a PM if this interests you at all.

Create your own pattern. If it really works, you could sell 'em (or just have excellent fishing until others figure it out on their own).

Can you say bowfishing?

Can anyone recommend a good tackle and bait shop in T.O.?

I forgot to mention that the people that I used to deal with in A.S. would order anything that i wanted - even if they didn't sell the product. No, I don't work for them or have any shares in the company. -

I used to deal alot with the Angling Specialties in MIssissauga. Top notch gear in those places and some good advise if you ask the right questions. If there is one accesble by public transit, then that is where I suggest you go for anything you need (more than just bait). -
Wow, do the pumps go fast in round 2. I blew up 4 cars in a row and the game ended. I have a feeeling that I will try again later this aft... I, too, was deemed a jackass. Corner Gas is one of the funniest shows in a long time!

Never fished Dunnville in the winter?

I am thinking of getting a 4 inch auger since I do quite a bit of perchin'. Does anyone know if they are sale anywhere today? I might like to get one and make sure it works (about 20 or 30 times) tomorrow...

You, Brian, are a bugger. I thought you were heading north and genuine in your offering.

I usually freeze 'day packs' (enought to tie 20-30 sacs) in snack size baggies. Squish all the air out with a ruler or suck it out with a straw. THen tie 'em up just before you are going out. I have never had a problem with freezer burn... (knock on wood)

Here's a few pics from last weekend: Self-picture on Saturday. I fished alone and didn't even have time drill a second hole for the first 1.5 hours of my day. I just wish that I had got there before 8:30. The fishing died off at lunch so I left. My friend "Mr Augermesiter" and his faithful companion joined me on Sunday: The fishing was veeeeeerrrry sloooooooow until the nite bite, but we got to hang out and catch some rays, throw the ball for the dog and enjoy a cold one in the warm sun. Augermeister's dog (Gar Bageater) is very obedient. When told to 'go fish', this is what he did: Hopefully, you tell me that the ice is still good and I can post an nice report early next week.

Thanks for the pics. It's nice to see some open water. However, it won't be long until we are all cursing the heat....

I want to take my father (#1 fishing partner and the person responsible for my addiction) fishing for some Jumbos on Saturday morning off the end of '89. He just recently retired and moved to the cottage with my mom. I figure he could use some quality 'guy time' and want to take him out. However, I want to ensure that it is still safe... Can anyone tell me how thick the ice is? Do I leave my truck on shore and walk? I know that Cook's is full of 'dinks' this year, but I really just want to take hime out. Even if we don't end up with too many keepers. I had my tuck on the ice last weekend and know that there was plenty of ice... Any help/information is greatly appreciated.
