  1. Just double checked with the journal to learn it has been over three months since last fishing. Spent most of that time in Nunavut working... in plenty dark... and in plenty colder days than here at home, albeit I rarely ventured outside. On shift and call 24/7 for a month on end, it's the quieter times some evenings and weekends that I gotta keep busy. Creating some entries for the website was just one of those ways... This bit of a report takes four excerpts from previous trips with one new entry as well, to basically highlight the five different times I have been fortunate enough to visit Nunavut through work and play. Arctic char and those memories fishing are certainly a happy place to go, especially when the days are long away from family and fishing. In this picture loaded write-up are two excursions to the Tree River with my wife Brenda, and three other work trips to Kugaaruk, Taloyoak and Coral Harbour found within different areas of Nunavut. Some here may have seen a few of the char pictures before, but most have likely not seen them all together and accompanied by the best of the incredible scenery only the Arctic has to offer. A click away if you're interested... Fishing Canada's Arctic Char. Next char report I'm hoping will come from one of three rivers on Victoria Island near Cambridge Bay. If not there, it'll certainly be somewhere new. Spring is fast approaching, in the meantime stay safe on the ice. Bunk.

  2. Nothing like confronting someone in an aggressive manner when the other guy has a loaded weapon in his hand. Either stupid or brave, I think stupid. Trespassing isn't just a PA problem. I once visited my Uncle in place called Jerseyviile in southern Illinois during Deer season. The local paper had 2 full pages of owners names and addresses of posted land. Uncle Sal said no one reads them or the posted signs everywhere because he is constantly running off trespassers. They will even set up camps for the entire hunting season and leave a huge mess behind that he cleans up. These trespassers are so intelligent one left behind a magazine addressed to him. Unc gathered up the entire mess and delivered it to his doorstep. It still remains a problem. Not being a hunter I don't know if it is a problem here in Ontario. I've been told any posted land means no hunting for anyone including the owner, true or false? Logic tells me false.

  3. I went through the same thing one year. I am all set up on private property. Owned by a co worker. I am all jacked up for this hunt. I am sitting in my tree and hear walking. Oh here comes my deer. Turn my head and see a walker in orange. IHe has no clue I am there. As he walks under me I ask what the hell he is doing? He is surprised I am there. He says he has permission. I say the ..... you do. Yes, we have been dogging this property for years now. I ask to see written permission. Dont have that he says. I reach in my pocket and say I do. Turns out they had permission from the owners past father 20 years ago. The son came and told them dont let me catch you guys on here again. Here is the funny part. The next year I am in the same stand and hear the same sound from the same direction as the year prior. I was no ,,,, way, not again. Turn my head and it,s a buck. That was the best sight to see. Well next to him dropping 20 yards after I blasted him. LOL

  7. My wife and her 2 girlfriends just got back from DR a couple days ago and they stayed at the Best Western Plus on Dixie Rd near the airport. She said it was a pretty nice place with 2 beds and was only $120 for the night. They also provide a shuttle to & from the airport, included in the room price.

  9. Ok thanks Dave. I think I might have it. Here is a screen shot. This will update my current card? And, I get the advantage of Navi and Garmin products? Instead of updating my 2GB card online they will send me a new one? Thanks for answering these questions.

  10. Two Newfies were working for the city public works department. One would dig a hole and the other would follow behind him and fill the hole in. They worked up one side of the street, then down the other, then moved on to the next street, working furiously all day without rest, one man digging a hole, the other filling it in again. An onlooker was amazed at their hard work, but couldn't understand what they were doing. So he asked the hole digger, 'I'm impressed by the effort you two are putting in to your work, but I don't get it -- why do you dig a hole, only to have your partner follow behind and fill it up again?' The hole digger wiped his brow and sighed, 'Well, I suppose it probably looks odd because we're normally a three-person team. But today the guy who plants the trees called in sick.'

  11. Well at least they still got some work done. Things would have really went south if the hole digger took a sick day?

  12. yes I get HBO and every network from coast to coast...every sports network you can think of...every news channel....every PPV event...every movie channel known to man...hundreds of 24/7 VOD channels to stream all the old classics, Bonanza... Hogans heros...Green Acres...All in the family...Sandford and son etc.etc.....I will see if I can get you some info, in the mean try this free option... ustv247.com keep in mind with streaming you consume a lot of data....I stream movies, sports,tv shows and go through 500 gb minimum....unlimited internet is must and I would suggest at least a speed of 25 mbps.... And there is nothing wrong with Kodi....Kodi is just a media player, all streaming devices are not created equal there are good ones and there are bad ones and there is a learning curve but its not all that difficult....you do not need Kodi to use IPTV or stream movies/tv....and yes cable/sat/cell phone bills are crazy and that`s why I cut the cord several years ago!

  13. Hey guys, I just pulled the trigger on a new 2019 Can Am Max XT 850, looking to use it mainly for work around the house, plowing the driveway, but we also plan to use it on the various trails around us and offroad/onroad (legal here) in your experience is there anything i should be carrying with me on the bike? (Other then the obvious paperwork required for the authorities of course) Thanks in advance for any advice G
