If I don't know what they are I wouldn't eat them. Buddy had a friend that ate some wild mushrooms and died a week later. There is no cure. We want you around here Cliff. Hence, I buy mine in the store for what it's worth.3 points

One more add on incase anyone ever searches this thread for information. If your trailer manufacturing date is older than 15 years old you are exempt from the RIV program and "canadian tire inspection" They harp on the month of manufacture as well, my trailer had all of this info stamped on it so I was sure to take a photo of the manufacturer plate and this saved me a pile of hassle. Hull is registered with transport canada, Trailer is registered with the province, taxes are paid, insurance is ordered. Time to get rigged for some fishing this weekend!2 points

Ended up going and getting it myself. They let me in with all of the appropriate paper work, certified cheque, double vax receipt, negative covid test etc.2 points

Just use zinc chromate primer on any bare aluminum followed with a decent marine topside paint. For price Rustoleum Topside works pretty good. I did this $250.00 jon boat for my nephews to putz around in with Rustoleum and I used truck bed liner for the interior.1 point

My favourite part was when I was literally about to leave Sunday and almost got myself trapped in the United States when I realized that my particular negative covid test was valid for entry into the United States but not for re-entry into canada. got re-covid tested and tried yesterday. all I can say is, being organized, polite, respectful and outright honest about everything is a good policy when dealing with customs and border security. keys for me were, bill of sale already signed by the owner, certified cheque in the name of the owner and the title search done. on the way back, they wanted the bill of sale, the title search and the proof of manufacturing date for the trailer. My particular trailer being just barely over 15 years old allowed for exemption from the RIV program. At least from what I can tell thus far. We shall see what service Ontario says when I go there today. also need to “re-plate” my boat as it has NY numbers on it and that won’t fly with the feds. small bonus for the trip, I filled up the truck with diesel and the 130 litre boat tank with $3.80 per gallon ethanol free premium funny of course I got randomly selected to take yet another covid test when I got back to canada. So I paid my taxes and headed to the testing facility. Boat is home now, now to get some rigging done!1 point

I ran 4 ga from my batteries to the motor. I shortened the wires coming off the motor as short as I could, and use one of these connectors. I haven't had an issue. It works slick. https://www.grainger.ca/en/product/p/WWG3BY23?gclid=CjwKCAjw_L6LBhBbEiwA4c46up-ttYeNJQdzGu34l0LYzU3iKZsK9wqIbb95UbTfPrDKeFqKeyDR8RoCSLAQAvD_BwE&cm_mmc=PPC:+Google+PLA&ef_id=CjwKCAjw_L6LBhBbEiwA4c46up-ttYeNJQdzGu34l0LYzU3iKZsK9wqIbb95UbTfPrDKeFqKeyDR8RoCSLAQAvD_BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!3645!3!483556496832!!!g!545678050530! Thanks for chiming in. I marked a bunch of bait off the deep hole by that rock, made quite a few passes but only pike and walleye. We tried for Sturgeon on a couple of nights but didn't seem to have any decent spots close to the cabin. Todd tried a double rig with cut sucker meat thinking it would keep the walleye's off .... no dice lol.1 point

but on a more serious note, is it possible that the whale sightings were in fact giant sturgeon?1 point

Guilty. reminds me of a limerick: "Said the mythical king of Siam, For women I don't give a damn. For a fat-bottomed boy Is my pride and my joy. They call me a buggar. I am."1 point

I saw this happen while walleye fishing in pointe au baril a decade ago. I was looking into the sunset a 7-8 foot whale jumped out of the water and splashed down.1 point

awesome nostalgia Phish I know that island behind the tail of the plane well yes, the sturgeon are there, 20+ years ago I saw natives pull a net, on that trip too I was WOT heading west towards frenchmans ( the deep section where it's safe to run without worries, you probably know where I'm talking about), I was staring blindly towards the horizon and at 500yds I saw a 200lbs orca breach and crash back into the water1 point

We did a trip to Aba back in 1993 with Nakina Outposts - flew in with the new Turbo Otter and stayed in the cabin nearest the Opichuan River inlet. That cabin was old then - needed lots of maintenance - the other cabin was almost totally collapsed. I recall having a walleye blast at the Opichuan River inlet - and also in the many holes along the Albany River - especially just below Frenchman's Rapids. Like you guys, we tried for the alleged trout - especially in the deep hole out from the cabin - lots of indications on the sounder but only caught one nice VERY deep green pike that felt like it came out of a refrigerator. No brookies and no sturgeon - and we set sturgeon lines out every day. Like all "River Lakes", the levels can fluctuate significantly and we were kinda cursed with very low water that required the outfitter to build an auxiliary dock well out into the lake so the plane could get it. The low levels also made us have to get into the water and drag boats upstream. A pain but the fishing was worth it. In the attached photo, that rock island behind the tail of the plane frequently has a few feet of water over it. We had done a two week canoe trip on the Albany two years earlier (from Osnaburg to Miminiska Lake (just before the Lodge there came back to life) and had some of the best walleye days ever. Although we never caught anything big, the numbers were off the charts. And we did get two nice sturgeon - they are there. phish1 point

Got out for a few shorter Musky sessions last week on Wabigoon Lake both solo and with friends. Musky were feisty and hungry, still to be found in 3’ - 6’ FOW in the remaining/ remnants of the cabbage and coontail weeds. Only had one session with no musky follows or netted, but picked up some decent pike that afternoon as a consolation prize for breaking my right arm casting…. Lol. Still throwing bucktails. Walleye are still around on the humps, as too are the crappie and bass, just haven’t spent much time fishing them while bigger toothy critters want to play.1 point
