  1. https://www.princessauto.com/en/red-brush-on-electrical-tape/product/PA0008037103 Go and get a small can of liquid tape, put on several coats. I've used it on boat trailer wiring after soldering and shrink tube, on my big ring connectors on my travel trailer and cargo trailer. It doesn't crack or shrink and hasn't let any corrosion start.

  2. I wish more people would do this; BEFORE buying a used vehicle. I've lost customers after having to tell them that they just bought a pile of junk. Then I hear it was safety checked and thought it had to be ok. Sorry but all a safety certificate means is that the vehicle passed the minimum safety requirements on the day of the inspection. It doesn't mean there are no non-safety issues or that the brake pads are worn down to 3mm (min thickness) and will need brakes within a month or so. Dan.

  4. Here's what I started with and in my imagination of what to make with this jumble of parts? LOL This vid is what came of it. Will it catch fish; I have no idea? But it was fun to build. LOL Dan.

  5. Actually that’s the stuff that doesn’t concern me on this one lol. On this one, it’s mainly about corrosion. Frame, floors, rockers, fuel and brake lines, steel cooling components, suspension. . Brakes, tires, steering are all somewhat expected to need work. I need to know if the bones are solid.

  6. I would look into environmental splices like are used in the aircraft industry. There are two styles, one uses a butt style crimp and then has the shrink tube with a sealer on each end. The other style like I've used on engine harnesses has an integrated solder ring in the middle of the shrink tube again with a sealer ring on each end that melts and provides a much better seal than standard shrink sleeving. In your case I would think that the solder connection would be preferable to a crimp. With larger wires I've found that it helps to tin the wires first. You will need a quality heat gun that will melt the solder and is generally used with a U shaped attachment on the end of the heat gun so that it reflects the heat on the backside of the splice at the same time

  7. Fisherman's suggestion & solution is great! Bolt the wires together and apply multiple layers of the liquid tape! I've used this before and it works great!

  8. this is exactly why i posted here...although it doesnt "solve" my problem, it has now made me aware of something that I had absolutely no idea existed. My amazon order has already been placed! although maybe it does if I am going to use a bolt to make the connection. Do you find that the stuff comes off with a razor blade should I ever need to disconnect?

  9. I did mine with a bolt and taped the crap out of it. A copper nut and bolt would be best oh and it takes a while for the gps satellites to lock and the WiFi to the pedal or remote. So if you are stopping at a spot you want to fish right away or need control fast , turn on the trolling motor on before you get to your spot

  14. Guys trust me, if you are getting out there please be careful. The ice even on the smallest lakes as far north as the french river are still sketchy as hell. I couldn’t imagine guys going onto simcoe or anywhere south

  15. Yeah Long Point Bay has been a kind of a wash the last dozen of so years. Back in the 70s up to the early 90s we always had our own hut out there. Now we'd be lucky to have a weeks worth of walk-on ice? I still remember fishing out of my Dad's G10 Chevy 1/2 ton van; somewhere out on the middle of the bay? Van running, side sliding door open and the van's heater going full blast. LOL Froze the boys a few times; lucky that I have two kids after that; it was so cold. LOL Dan.

  17. It,s been over a month since I hit the river. All this messed up weather put me in a funk and the river a mess .What a gorgeous morning to hit the river. -1 no wind and NO other anglers to be seen . Now that is social distancing .Man is the water up. Where I would be knee deep,I was waist deep. I have not bottom bounced in many years, but this mornings conditions warranted it. Paid off. Fresh runner that is heading to the smoker Saturday morning.

  18. Only you and beans can get away with this comment. LOL Truth be told Cliff,I am not as limber as I once was. I have knee issues that takes me an hour to get moving in the AM, before I get my arse moving these days. I like to still walk some trails to the rivers, but at a slower pace. My ice fishing will be limited to closer spots , but most of them are not that far off shore anyways, but snow will determine my travel as well. As long as I get out, that is all that matters .

  19. Made the first trip over to camp a couple days ago. Going across Fish Bay was ok as a few folks I know have been crossing it recently but no one had been any further. Wanting to spend a few days out here to light a fire, relax and watch the world Juniors I loaded up the old bike and an ice chisel to check things out. As I entered the opening to Hunters Bay I stopped and walked a few yards and chiseled out a hole. A little over 4”, still good to go. A few yards more and it went to 3 1/2”. Uggh. At 3” I just about turned around but treaded carefully a few feet more and got back to 4”. This went on for another 500 yards and then progressed to over 6”. it took a couple hours to go a mile but I made it safely to achieve the goal. It’s very important to check ice thickness every few feet as it can vary greatly due to snow cover and underwater currents, especially around islands and shoals.

  20. Simcoe is a shitshow at the best of times, I can't even imagine what it's going to be like this year. City of Barrie, Township of Innisfil will be making $$$$ with parking tickets, lol.

  21. I bought a new 90HP Merc 4 stroke in 1999 and put a ton of hours on it over the next 10 years and never had a single issue with it. I sold it to a bud in 2009 and he drove it for another 7 or so years before it needed it's 1st repair. I'd say 17 problem free years is pretty darned impressive. I bought a new 150 Yamaha 4 stroke in 2010 and drove that one for 7 years before I quit fishing but they were also problem free years when I sold it. I've always figured if you take care of your gear and keep it well maintained it'll last you a long time.
