  1. Just a heads up for those who know and more importantly, those that don't, that in the 416 region, those "microsoft support people" are hard at it this week. Once last week and twice this week they have wanted to help me with my computer. If you don't know, Microsoft will NEVER call you, that's not the way they work. These people are trying to sabotage our computers in order to steal and extort us. I work from home, so I am home all day dealing with telemarketers and scammers calling the house. But these scammers tend to hit the most vulnerable of us and I just wanted to let everyone know that they are hitting our region pretty hard these days. HH

  2. Going to Windsor this weekend with a friend for my first time fishing for White Bass. I cannot find anything on the government website on white or silver bass. Their possession limits, seasons, etc. Nothing. The Detroit river and that area are Zone 19. The gov. document doesn't list white or silver bass as a species ... not in just Zone 19 ... but not anywhere in the full document.

  3. Just do like I do and screen your calls. If I don't recognise the # I let it go to voicemail. If they don't leave a message and call back 3 times without leaving a message I block the #.

  4. Next time a CO stops to check you for a licence, ask him for a business card. I haven't met one yet that wasn't willing to do so, and/or gave me their personal cell phone number.

  9. Drop shotting is one of the most successful techniques for many types of fish. Its even used in salt water applications. you can use plastics, dead and/or live bait. Another Bass technique I will be trying for 'eyes this spring is shaky head. inject a bit of air in a big crawler and bounce it along the bottom.. Super finesse technique that just has to work.

  10. My great grandparents bought land when it was first available as well. My grandparents actually met on the lake, as young children. They married, then bought their land from the government for something like $2.5 / foot of water front. He got 350 feet of water front for under a thousand bucks when he was 18 years old. He is 90 now...

  12. Me too, especially since they have never won one. And the payback to Boston for Bobby's 1974 goal would be good too.

  13. At the lodge on Great Bear we had two old Honda quads, they are 1980's vintage and are still being used daily during the season to this day. This is the unit I am looking to purchase. https://atvsxs.honda.ca/atv/rubicon/rubicon-500-dct-irs-eps

  15. That is where I start in normal years. Water is very high still so it will be interesting how the increased level impacts the fishery.

  16. Cliff, if it was 30 years ago I could fill all the seats with cute, young female co-pilots. But it isn't 30 years ago, Same great lady for 26 now. I still think she is young and beyond cute, she's a 6 foot tall beauty. Actually she modeled for a few years. If you got the Sears catalogues in the 80's you may have seen her. Also a Sunshine Girl. Many have asked over the years if she is legally blind, Funny. She is just as beautiful inside, that's the key for me.

  17. just like you...it has been 30 plus years since I have fished there BUT I do remember we caught a giant crappie while trolling for pike. Guy I was with was trolling a panther martin spinner and caught it on that...biggest crappie I ever saw. Can't remember what I had for breakfast today but I remember everything about that fish!

  18. Oh boy, can of worms. The ones to buy, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki. CF Moto is a new kid on the block however so far they seen to do well in reliability. Of the above 4+1, you may have to travel a bit to find a dealer but don't rule out the one you want because of that. The above models generally cost a bit more and fall under the caveat of "you get your moneys worth", rather than I bought the cheaper one but now I'm in the repair shop more than I want to be. Personal choice, Yamaha 450 or 700 Grizzly or Kodiak. More than strong enough and gentle on the gas. I've been around Yamaha models that had over 10K kilometers with just the basic maintenance, oil, tires, battery and maybe a lightbulb or two. Zero transmission problems, Zero belt problems, without a doubt Yamaha has the best drive train out there. Honda has grown up and improved on their machines, still lacking in ground clearance a bit. As for the ones to avoid, in no particular order Polaris, CanAm/BRP and Arctic Cat, (now Textron). I've seen too many Polaris ones first time out with problems, electrical gremlins, drive train gremlins, belts getting soaked and having to be towed back. Not starting in the cold. Can/Am clean out of the showroom, transmission problems related to electronics. Leaky oil and rad pumps. Arctic Cat, leave them in the litter box. There is another brand out now, Argo makes an ATV, the jury isn't saying much but rumblings I've heard, their ARGO 6x6 and 8x8 is what they are best at. Undoubtedly there will will be some that say their Polaris has never failed or their Canned Ham is bullet proof, It's like trying to write a story at -30 with a ball point pen in the snowbank. You pay now or you cry and pay for repairs and rebuilds.
