Just wanted to pass on a tip as people may be cleaning up equipment as it gets put away for the hard water season. Mr Clean Magic Erasers work great for cleaning up dirty cork handles without having to resort to sandpaper or other abrasives. I was given an couple older rods for repair/re-wrap and the cork was pretty dirty. A couple minutes with the Magic Eraser and years of sweat, fish slime, and grime are removed without any damage to the cork. Cork still looks rough, but at least it's clean now.
A few rods on the go.....
The good, a custom Sage Float Rod donation build with the proceeds of the raffle going to the LHFC, to support their hatchery program.

The bad, a rod that after several days of fussing with the wood components of the fore grip I've decided to scrap it and start again.
Brian the river is famous for the small mouth bass population. It is a series of shallow water and rifts with a hard rocky bottom. You will find up to class 3 rapids between stretches that takes a special kind of boat and motor to run. The bottom of the boats are usually beefed up aluminum and some even have a hard plastic shield like the puck boards on a hockey rink. The Motors are a jet drive which draws water from the underside and accelerates it thru a snail shell cone providing thrust out the back for propulsion. Reverse is achieved by a bucket that drops over the drive outlet and redirects the water. The controls are moved forward to give you a better view of what is coming up before you hit it. My boat has an air boat steering assy on the left and the throttle on the right side. They are a very flat bottomed and wide boat to ride on top of the water making them draft less than 4 inches on plane. The motor is actually slightly higher or even with the bottom of the boat so damage is limited depending on what you hit.

Took my buddy to Angler Outfitters when looking for fish finder.
My buddy said to Monty "I cant decide weather to buy 7 or 9.
Monty walked over turned the 7 on and turn 9 on.
Pretty funny and we all know what happened.
Good to hear from you Rob. Long time
I have a saying about finders. KISS
I have my 4x elite and 5x elite. Simple machines to use, once you figure them out. My new addition, bird 598 is a brain scratcher for me, but getting there. It,s got fancy things like di.si. GPS as well, it is a nice feature. First for me. Always used land marks.LOL
Anyhoo, I know I was no help, but nice to see ya here.
Honestly man, these day's it's hard to go wrong with either Humminbird or Lowrance.. especially when comparing the lower end units like you mentioned. If your just looking for a simple graph with some extra options it's hard to beat what you have picked out.
A lot of guys will argue this like it's chevy vs ford vs mopar in the 70's.. brand loyalty means nothing nowadays and all units have ups and downs.
For the money this is hard to beat https://www.cabelas.ca/product/107619?productVariantId=298593&gclid=Cj0KCQiAsJfhBRCaARIsAO68ZM7YxfmaUjvC06a8537HlWtnLEA_Qdw43Y5sufSgR5WdoKpRHtwaK00aAsosEALw_wcB
