Rizzo Posted Tuesday at 11:03 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 11:03 PM We have a 2021 Subaru Ascent, 2019 Jetta and 2016 Elantra and 5 drivers. Myself, my wife and 3 children (17, 18, 20). Have done the usual tricks like high deductibles etc. Just adding my 17 year old brought our rates from around $6300/year to around $9300 year. No claims, no points, everyone is a safe reliable driver (thankfully). Each car will be driven approx 18-20k in a year. Should I be looking around for other quotes or does this seem reasonable? I started to do an on-line quote (belair direct) but based on the questions I think it would take a guy of my typing speed an hour to complete it so I stopped. Any suggestions? Is it worth my effort to fill out the Belair forms or have others done this and found it to be a waste of time? Do you have a company I should reach out to? Or someone to definitely avoid? I have been with the same company for over 30 years but willing to switch if needed.
glen Posted Tuesday at 11:13 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 11:13 PM Some insurance companies are way higher than others. try co operators. Call them and tell them the story.
Rizzo Posted Tuesday at 11:30 PM Author Report Posted Tuesday at 11:30 PM I did eventually do one of these online quote things (not belair...different site). Rates appeared about the same as what I am paying. There was one company "Travelers" that was a few thousand less....but I read some reviews about them and they aren't positive!
akaShag Posted yesterday at 01:07 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:07 AM Are you a member of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH)? They have an affiliated insurance broker that might be worth looking into, although I have not personally dealt with them. I am very happy with my insurance broker here in Kingston, but I have no idea if they would insure people from elsewhere. (If this is something you want to look into, please send me a pm) Good luck! Doug
16 Footer Posted yesterday at 12:03 PM Report Posted yesterday at 12:03 PM I am a member and have car insurance with CAA at a good rate. Call them for a quote. Good luck if you live in Brampton.
John Posted yesterday at 12:06 PM Report Posted yesterday at 12:06 PM We have been with the same company for the past 30+ years. We have 2 recent vehicles, a boat a trailer and house and contents insured through them. Every now and again I get upset at rate increases and shop around. I have found (so far) that I could maybe save 2 or 300 a year by switching but have a level of comfort with our current broker/insurer in that the 2 or 3 claims we have made were handled swiftly and professionally.
Headhunter Posted yesterday at 02:45 PM Report Posted yesterday at 02:45 PM I had to make a claim a couple of years ago when a tree fell into my pool during a rather violent thunderstorm. My insurance hooked me up with a Project Manager who does nothing but work between the insurance company and the customer. We got to talking about insurance companies and the one thing that has stuck with me was his disgust with Belair. The will do anything to not pay out. Deny, deny deny! Food for thought! HH
